  1. Maybe when people stop trying to produce counterfeit currency.
  2. This was announced about 3 years ago so they've had plenty of time to sort out the machines.
  3. I don't know every one of Haydn's 104 (or 108, if you include some that aren't numbered) symphonies in detail, but I'm pretty sure none of them have five movements. Also, I don't know any that last much more than 30 minutes (most are around the 20 minute mark).
  4. The problem for the company is that the number of people who want to know this information is small relative to the full audience size. Also, these roles can be shifted about at the last minute, even if someone needs to be taken off Lilac Fairy, for instance, to play a lesser role due to illness or injury (as actually happened recently). They need to balance the need to announce changes, change cast slips etc. with the perceived need for the audience to know casting in advance. If I want to know when a specific dancer is due to dance a specific role, I ask them or phone the ballet office.
  5. The website pages are all linked, so if a dancer is listed on the production page as dancing a role, it will also show on that dancer's profile page.
  6. This might raise a smile for some contributors to this thread... Last night, being the anniversary of the premiere of The Two Pigeons, I was listening to the music for the ballet. My phone was playing on shuffle and at the end of one movement, the style of the music changed dramatically and I heard "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park".
  7. It is a minefield so take care (the law is quite nuanced and too detailed to go into on a web-forum). Our AUP is very clear on this and the moderators will act in accordance with a conservative interpretation of their legal obligations.
  8. The website says 7 o'clock. Saturday evening ballet performances are almost always 7 o'clock starts.
  9. Which is why we have a (pretty well policed) AUP.
  10. Except, unless no-one applauds, the creatives won't hear silence. And they won't see you not clapping either (unless you're in the front row or so).
  11. 2694 applications for 632 spaces. Offers sent out from 1 March.
  12. In case anyone is interested, Henry and Olivia announced on Twitter this morning that they got married yesterday. They are honeymooning in Antigua. Good use of the mid-season break, I'd say!
  13. Here's a video of his first public appearance after becoming engaged to Princess Margaret (at Royal Opera House!): https://mobile.twitter.com/BBCArchive/status/819936930204782595/video/1
  14. I agree with that sentiment entirely. However, security decisions need to be taken in a proportionate manner. Elected governments have determined (having been advised by their security services) that it is appropriate for photo ID to be required to travel on an aircraft or through the Channel Tunnel. The UK would grind to a halt if photo ID were required to board a train or coach. I'm reminded of a TV programme a few years ago where members of the public (or minor celebs, I can't quite remember) where placed in a situation room during a simulated potential terrorist attack. One episode involved a hijacked plane; the participants refused to shoot down the plane and it crashed into the Houses of Parliament - the security advisers said the participants made the wrong decision. Another involved a bomb on a tube train that exploded whilst the train was under the Thames; the participants decided not to close the flood doors as there may still have been people alive on the train - the tunnel collapsed and flooded the entire underground network, killing thousands more. Again, the security advisers said this was the wrong decision. All just goes to show these are not easy decisions to make.
  15. Because you can kill a lot more people by crashing an aircraft into something than doing the same with a coach.
  16. There's just not enough time to do everything! Having said that, last year I managed (not including cinecasts) 96 trips to the ballet, 19 to the opera, 18 to the theatre and 71 concerts.
