  1. Yes, I liked that one, accusing Hanna Weibye of not understanding English. That'll be Dr. Hanna Weibye, junior research fellow at King's College Cambridge, from Edinburgh.
  2. Interestingly, Tchaikovsky ballets are apparently amongst the loudest pieces the orchestra plays.
  3. I will not apologise. Your final sentence was completely out of order, no matter how I rose this morning.
  4. Then you should have been more clear as that's not how it reads. In any event and no matter to what you were responding, your final sentence was, and still is, a revolting statement.
  5. The floor under the side seats can be opened so as to allow sound to dissipate (and it's usually the horns and brass that are under or nearest to that area). This can sometimes lead to the odd effect for some in the audience that the brass and horns are playing in the stalls circle, but that's a tiny price to pay to ensure the musicians, who give us such pleasure, are protected.
  6. I think it's disgusting that you don't think it's appropriate for professional musicians to be accorded a working environment that protects their health and well-being. You really should be ashamed of yourself.
  7. There's also one performance with only 23 seats available, which is as good as sold out for a theatre with a capacity of 2,256. But what strikes me as interesting about the advance ticket sales for this bill is that, barring one performance where there are about 100 seats in the lower tiers, the vast majority of the unsold tickets are in the cheaper areas of the house. I don't know whether this is just people who would sit elsewhere for "traditional" ballets make use of the top price tickets being that bit cheaper or whether it relates to the economic demographic of people interested in the bill. It would be great to understand the ticket sales but I don't think we will ever get the chance.
  8. Over 90% of the tickets are sold already, which is, I would say, slightly higher than the average advance sale for a triple bill. As to your second suggestion, do you have any evidence to suggest that this is indeed the case?
  9. If anyone is interested, there are reduced price tickets available at tkts.
  10. The order and running time (taken from the show webpage) is as follows: Human Seasons (40 mins) Interval (25 mins) After the Rain (25 mins) Interval (30 mins) Flight Pattern (35 mins) Means the Gorecki is cut as the symphony usually runs about 52 minutes.
  11. O'Hare has previously said there will be no more promotions to character artist (principal or otherwise).
  12. This ticket has been returned to the box office. Interestingly, the hold music on the 'phone was the Sleeping Beauty waltz...
  13. Thanks Fonty. I was also going to say that the RB's Lilac Fairy variation doesn't contain Italian fouettés. Italian fouettés are those found in Gamzatti's variation and that of the Queen of the Dryads in Don Q (a developé followed by a turn with a transition of the leg into attitude, though it can also end in arabesque). The Lilac Fairy simply does a fouetté whilst turning. Interesting that many other major ballet companies do not include this (pretty difficult) step in their Lilac Fairy variation.
