  1. Iana Salenko to replace Obraztsova on Saturday. http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-evgenia-obraztsova-unable-to-dance-in-swan-lake-on-21-march-2015
  2. Sorry. Didn't realise there was another page to this thread and posted a reply to Alison's question before I realised it had already been answered. Maybe an administrator can remove this post now that I've deleted the redundant answer?
  3. There was an item on An American in Paris on yesterday's CBS Sunday Morning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKx5wuN_3SE Some of it seemed familiar to me and I suspect may have been available on line for some time. Still, it's good for the show to have exposure on network television.
  4. More cast changes for Swan Lake: http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-changes-swan-lake-on-19-and-21-february-2015
  5. Cast change for Swan Lake next Friday (February 13): http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-natalia-osipova-to-dance-in-swan-lake-on-13-february-2015
  6. They've moved since then. Here's the current address of the Mariinsky Theatre Trust. At least it was their address last summer. I don't think they've moved since: Mariinsky Theatre Trust Mare Street Studios - Unit 305 203-213 Mare Street London E8 3QE Tel: +44 (0)20 8510 9262
  7. There is certainly a Friends' organization. There doesn't seem to be any information on line but I do have the address of the person who runs it. It's probably not appropriate to post his address on line so I'll send it to you in a PM.
  8. I'd hesitated to post this link since it's from a French newspaper but, given that we already have a number of French language reviews, here's another: http://www.lefigaro.fr/musique/2014/12/12/03006-20141212ARTFIG00288--un-americain-a-paris-s-installe-au-theatre-du-chatelet.php
  9. Lovely to see you doing a detailed review again, Sim. Your insights have been much missed in recent times. More please!
  10. That was written last Friday so the Monday mentioned was yesterday. Maybe the casting for those roles isn't yet final.
  11. Detailed casting has now been put on the production pages http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/don-quixote-by-carlos-acosta A pity they don't think to list the Queen of the Dryads or Cupid
  12. Sarah Lamb is to replace Laura Morera in tonight's performance of The Age of Anxiety. No reason is given. http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-sarah-lamb-to-dance-in-the-age-of-anxiety-on-14-november-2014
  13. I'm amazed that a dancer who is, I assume, under contract to ENB should be able to give up a scheduled performance with her own company in order to replace a dancer in another company
  14. I think you’ve got this a little wrong. I was at all the performances and, although I don’t have the cast sheets to hand, I’m pretty sure of the following: The 2nd and 3rd performances were both danced by the following cast: Hamilton/Muntagirov/Naghdi/Acri/Stock/Zucchetti The 4th performance was danced by Nuñez/Clarke/Naghdi/Hay/Choe/Dyer The 5th performance (last night’s) was was danced by Nuñez/Clarke//Magri/Hay/Stock/Dyer Edited to try to highlight where my memory differs from yours
  15. Just noticed there has also been a cast change for Ceremony of Innocence Deirdre Chapman and Bennet Gartside to replace Christina Arestis and Edward Watson in two performances (November 14 and 17). http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-deirdre-chapman-and-bennet-gartside-to-dance-in-ceremony-of-innocence-on-14-and-17-november-2014
  16. Marianela Nuñez is to replace Fumi Kaneko in two performances of Don Q in January. Presumably Fumi's injury is still causing her problems http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-marianela-nunez-to-dance-in-don-quixote-on-3-and-7-january-2015
  17. Yes. They did La Bayadère together in the 2012/13 season.
  18. Assuming I'm not having a senior moment, I have no recollection of Marianela Nuñez dancing it before. Yuhui Choe was in the Company when it was last done but was not cast in it. I believe that the other dancers have all joined the company since that last run.
  19. So did Judith Mackrell in her blog (which was in yesterday's links): http://www.theguardian.com/stage/dance-blog/2014/oct/24/why-the-royal-ballet-frederick-ashton-centre-stage
  20. The word 'value' only came up in my attempt to paraphrase Alex Beard's comments. I'm pretty sure it's not a word he used.
  21. Well I enjoyed her performance. I found it very moving. I was, however, sitting in the amphitheatre. I accept that it's possible that those who were sitting closer might have found her interpretation too melodramatic. It can be hard to judge how to project to all areas of the House. For example, I saw her first Odette/Odile from the stalls circle seats next to the stage and found her characterisation of Odette overdone. I saw her third performance of the role from the amphitheatre and really enjoyed it.
  22. Alex Beard has said that he has plans to close part of the terrace so as to incorporate it into the main building. He has implied that the terrace is wonderful in summer but that, for the rest of the year, it is too exposed to the elements and that the space would be of more value if it were enclosed. He made these comments during a recent interview at the London Ballet Circle.
