  1. I know what you mean. I have started embracing the amphi, which I generally like a lot. However, Maylering for instance was hard from there because all women looked alike.
  2. Well I for one am very excited for Les Patineurs. Such a great Christmasy show instead of nutcracker. Don Q does not interest me. Having said that I got one of the last tickets today for the 18th. It is great to see shows doing well. Maylering, the night I saw it with Osipova, was empty in spots.
  3. No they will have a carbon and waste target. I mean is the change of cast sheet a good use of paper. I would say putting it on screens or announcing it is a far better way of doing things. Also they could just be being sloppy but it seems odd. Looks more like a change in how they do things.
  4. Are they increasing their environmental awareness. Everyone has targets and well it is the right thing. I can't imagine they are being sloppy.
  5. I, at times, struggled to know which girl was which. The wife and Mary yes but many of the others just melded into one. Don't really know of I liked it yet? I didn't feel that interested in the main character. As a show case to show off some male dance technique it was great. There where some empty seats near me. Which I have never seen before. Maybe it's been revived a bit too much recently.
  6. The Ballet of Canada would get complaints when the lovely Guillaume Cote did not dance with his frequent partner and wife. Whose name I think is Heather. It is not so unusual I think. We are narrative creatures and a dance partnership with many roles and a couple partnered regularly arc feeds into this need and especially of you believe the narrative they create on stage.
  7. Some do. Some don't. A theatre which sits 2000 will always have a mixture. I would warrant a quarter to see that cast, a quarter who are seeing many casts, a quarter because it is the Opera house, and a quarter just to see a ballet.
  8. Well perhaps Hayward will do the a firebird and Juliet. I would would dearly enjoy Campbell as her Romeo. If she doesn't though, she doesn't. Her career is really her own concern, if she is unhappy with the amount of work I would encourage her, or anyone, to look at other company's to guest or whatever. Campbell does seem to sometimes get overlooked though. They play safe with him, but again it's his own career and concern and he has certainly voiced wanting to do other things and doesn't seem dedicated to the RB. They both seem pretty savy as concerns future opportunities. Something tells me these two will be fine. Iron rod of a survivor in both.
  9. Can't believe another season over and after all this time Swan Lake completed. Hope everyone has a great break and that we soon hear more casting news. I do wonder how far in advance they do cast?
  10. Totally of topic but. The press are going through difficult times. Terrible for them and they are really as good as going out of business. I think they review a lot and the shift has been for people and companies to move to multi media platforms. Which the RB do amazingly well. Even look at the individual dancers. Instagram accounts galore which by and large prompt their careera with little private content. Any communicatoons department would urge this. I really would not be worried about reviews. Time is moving on.
  11. I was not aware but that would indeed be marvelous for both. And yes please do not make this Hayward/Naghdi it is wearing at times. Press is as press do.
  12. I would be beyond thrilled to see these partnerships dance Romeo and Juliet and I hope they do. The powers that be do strange things though. Also probably zero chance of either being in cinema broadcast. With Nunez, Lamb and Cuthbertson being the seniors and Osipova being a Superstar it will probably be one of those. Probably be Nunez and Vadim. The actually film it twice would any mistakes can be fixed for the DVD. As in Haywards slip last week. IF they decide to put Campbell and Hayward together they may do TV as a follow up to the Nutcracker. TV audiences do not like being confused and that show was a success for them.
  13. I think Campbell just needs to play the leads now. He is just at that stage. In Manon I could hear people talking about how the brother was a better dancer than the main guy. He was the brother. He is tending to focus attention on him. He has presence, talented, and no little chemistry with Hayward and seems a nice guy who is liked by all the ladies he dances with. Maybe time to let him just do princes role. Shocks me he was a fill in for injuries this year. If I were him I would be annoyed.
  14. I hope she was alright Alex Campbell was holding on tight to her at the end maybe she wasn't feeling so hot. She and Takada were lovely though. T For all the talk of Siegfried. He is weak. Very. The physic on these dancers. Nunez's calves are so defined and Campbell must have great technique in his legs because his gluts are immense. Vadim was marvelous. Radiated love. Is Benn supposed to choose one sister over the other?
  15. It was a wonderful show today. Throughly enjoyed it; and listening to running commentary from those around us. Campbell nearly stole the show. Really coming into his peak as a dancer. Bonnelli looked abit weak/distracted/tired next to him and Hayward. Calvert was gorgeous, and sensual as the mistress. Definitely a favourite for me: Manon. One of my favourites.
  16. It is no philosophical thinking or deep thinking but my only answer to that is: just the way it is at the moment. Media attach to certain characters. Does not make them more talented or anymore worthy. Well that tragedy apart. I meant it in all down to earth but admittedly elaborate vocabulary as a split. But yes that is very good description of what I see with Naghdi sometimes. I don't really see why. She is doing phenomenally and good for her. There are far more who get very little publicity etc at all. I am terribly fond of Takada for example who is given far less exposure and Stix Burnell who is joyous and others who are often overlooked.
  17. I see it often and mainly an attitude of bigging up latter against the former. I get it though. Hayward seems to get the more publicity, probably because she was in the Christmas show last year, and perhaps causes resentment. I see no real point to it though as it isn't a competitive sport and the reality is one or both could be lost to injury in a nanosecond. So I am just great full the RB are doing well.
  18. He is indeed and has time to grow and develop like us all. I find the often schism in attitude of Hayward and Naghdi unpalatable. We should, be grateful for such wonderful young dancers and hopeful that their careers be long and healthy.
  19. I think it does rather matter in some situations . And as always there will be a myrid for choices of performers and partners. I wish them all the best of luck.
  20. More experienced. Bigger reputations and ultimately will bring in more money. I am thrilled for Takada as well. Great news for them both. Other four were a shoe in.
  21. I would say in many ways its increasing reputation and earning more money.
  22. There are a number of issues. 1. Many have engagements elsewhere. 2. Some are learning complex dances for first time. 3. Lower ranks may dance more often but the workload is probably not as hard on their bodies as principals.
  23. I am sure it saw it on TV maybe 10 years ago. Very few black and white films on now anyway. When Feud started all my friends were excited and I was just oh I have seen all those films when I was small. No movie or tv ever captures anything accurately because its a snaphoot of life and therefore is doing well if it gets the essense across. No one wants to see courts ajourned for points of law to be discussed, or see surgerys last 18 hours, or teachers doing paper work etc.
