  1. Maybe. Doesn't seem the type. Always looking for a challenge maybe.
  2. For something that may be considered niche and sitting over 2000. ROH does very well indeed. Hardly an empty seat. Ever. However it is an expensive art form to go to and to run. Having said that being more open - you will be able to go up to viewing deck - may be part of the public funding. Open up to visitors, be more approachable etc.
  3. Well yes of course and it is pragmatic and sensible but Singing in the Rain is now and he has a very full time job. He would have left or taken a sabbatical I suppose.
  4. Anyone read tbe Country Life interview with Alexander Campbell? Parts of it really interested me. He talks of auditioning for an American in Paris but what would he have done. Taqken a sabbatical? Lots of other comments which makes me think he will stick with ballet as long as its interesting but he wants to do other stuff. Perhaps that is not surprising given presenting interests. Made me think powers that be should be thinking about giving him fresh things to do. I found it interesting from a sheer lack of ambition for ballet career point of you.
  5. Well given they are principal I am inclined to think they all have what it takes to do it. 20'/30's...about right for character who is young. I would like to see as many as possible attempt it but with four big hitters and this talk of six casts I do wonder.
  6. My feeling is all principals of right age should be given a go but they are saying six casts? Which reduces that liklihood. Of course can have six casts and more leads. If only six lead pairs. Nagdi wiuld probably come behind some others who have been there longer. But hopefully more people will get a shot but Lamb, Vuthberydon and Nunez are a given.
  7. Glorious show tonight just glorious. First time seeing Nutcracker live after a life of listening to music, telling the story, teaching the dances. Anyway I just adored it. O'Sullivan got many compliments that I could hear. Stix Burnell was a great Rose Fairy. Hayward and Campbell practically brought down the house with the pas de deux. After seeing them both with other partners they really do have something when dancing together, which is of course for a myrid of reasons which ultimately can be summed up as luck. I know people are weary sometimes because it is every year but its a wonderful production and Clara and Hans inclusion works in relation to the story.
  8. I somehow do not think anyone but principals will get a go. It would be unfairnif she had a go over Nagdhi. Never know who will get injured.
  9. I would say so. Maybe not Naghdi and Ball though this time. Hayward and Campbell having a year on them.
  10. Some one else in my life is Haywood. I think subconsciously I always thought that was hwr name.
  11. Maybe. We know Nunez. Probably Cuthbertson, Lamb, Osipova, Haywood and Naghdi maybe. There seems there could be many more though. The should announce fairly soon.
  12. Poor auld McRae. Opps. But yes. Campbell looks very much younger. It is just the baby face. Nunez is spending more and more time in South America. But then Osipova is not really there full time either really. I am afraid I brought up quite a morbid topic.
  13. Soares is 36/7 and I always thought McRae was older. Anyway there are inevitable retirements approaching. You need to think future.
  14. Well reality is Watson, McRae, Soares are coming up for retire in next few years as will Cut, Nunez, Lamb on female side. It is as it always is though. You need one eye on future. Great signing.
  15. He should have been doing this part anyway. Shame Sambe is injured though.
  16. I think he is quite versatile and has quite a few partners. And by versatile I mean the right height for many of the smaller ballerinas. He is extraordinary with Hayward though. Their Lovers Leave rehearsal was just palpable. Why I don't know...just the way it is I suppose. Sometimes performers, like everyone else I guess, just click on the right level. I do have fingers crossed for Manon and Swan Lake later in the year. Surely. Surely. He got made principal. Now dances with the principal girls. Sad but I think that is it. There is definitely more so list men who partner principal girls than the other way around.
  17. It was glorious. They are developing a truly fantastic partnership on stage. I hope the powers that be let it continue. Quite. What a treat. It was lovely to see. Cuthbertson obviously still a little unsure but you can see her trust in Watson.matter all these years of working together, trusting eachother. Such a strong partnership.
  18. Saw tonight. The Dream wonderful. Hayward is an exquisitely light dancer and quiet on her feet. As is Sambe. People were very supportive of him and he is very light on his feet up he, understandably, didn't match her. Stars were the lovers and puck and bottom. Just adored. Symphonic Variations was very blink and you missed it. Recce very impressive. Acting in M and A was wonderful. You felt their connection and bought into it. Stand out piece and pair of the night.
  19. Just checked. It really does not seem to be selling well. Too soon or/and perhaps it is the we are narrative animals and stories are generally more popular with the general public.
  20. Booked to see Haywood as she has been ill last two times I went to see her. Sorry to miss Osipova, Polonin and Hayward but won't stretch for another ticket. Looking forward to Sambe and excited to know who the lovers will be.
  21. I quite agree. The ability to,lets say bend our wishes and wants to the competing will of the group is necessary in all walks of life. Actually it is pretty much socialisation. Cogges in the wheel. Doesn't make you mediocre far from it. The royal ballet isn't mediocre. Far from it, they are well trained, prepared and efficient with some great talents past, present and future.
  22. I shouldn't think it matters where they train or that they should have an obligation to the schools that train them but perhaps they do and perhaps more likely it suits where they want to be for family and friends reasons. Soares is winding down, as is Watson really. And several of the others, because of height and style have their long term partners and several more are not suited a variety of the principal females because of height. The first soloists ladies often dance with partners not of equal rank. Of course often as talented. For what it is Naghdi does not have long to wait to make principal anyway and it should necessitate from options for Matty/James as well.
