  1. I wasn't able to go to the cinema screening but I hope they'll do a DVD of this as I saw at the opera house and would love to see the dancers' faces close up.
  2. This is the first time that I haven't been able to get a seat in my chosen area since I started going to ballet 3 years ago. I hope it doesn't happen again, but clearly the Watson Mayerling is a hot ticket!
  3. Me too! Her face is so expressive. That last bit made me shed a tear and if she can do that in the nutcracker she would probably ruin me in a dramatic role.
  4. Bonelli seemed off when I saw him on Saturday as well. I've never seen him be anything less than impecable before. I agree with previous posters that the pas de deux looked uncomfortable and Nunez didn't shine in it for me either. I felt uneasy watching it.
  5. I'm watching. Gutted they can't show Tchai PDD! That interviewer during the break was a wreck. It was almost like a mocumentary.
  6. Shocking bit of audience behaviour at Corsaire last night in the balcony. A man in row B was livid at the person in front of him in row A, who apparently was leaning forward and obstructing his view. I get that it would be annoying but Row B man was so aggressive to row A, cursing and raising his voice. The person next to him, who was with someone in a wheelchair space, tried to shush him and he went off on her too saying she paid nothing for her seat and he'd paid a fortune. Luckily the angry man didn't return after the first act.
  7. I prefer ENB's because the story made more sense to me. I also preferred the costumes as from my vantage point last night I had some trouble telling the characters apart. Although the Bolshoi's jardin scene did look lush, if a but crowded as others have mentioned.
  8. I agree with the others that it was entirely too long and also preferred the ENB version. The story seemed quite thin and at times seemed almost forgotten. After 3 hours I wanted it to end and a lot of us thought it had, audience members rushing out, etc. Then there was a long scene change and the real ending, which was underwhelming despite the impressive set. The dancing did seem a bit wobbly at times but Alexandrova and Tikhomirova were wonderful. I'd been excited to see Lantratrov after all the glowing reviews but it didn't seem like he had all that much dancing to do. I preferred the other Bolshoi performance I saw, the Flames of Paris, which had the energy and passion that the Bolshoi is all about.
  9. Tikhomirova really caught my attention during the recent Bolshoi cinema broadcast of DQ. I'd love to see her as Kitri.
  10. I got an email from Groupon about this offering £15 and £20 deals. Check out their website.
  11. This is a bit cheeky, but does anyone know if you've asked the ROH to resell a ticket and it hasn't been successfully resold whether you can have it back before the performance so it doesn't go to waste? I panic bought for 2 different casts before casting was announced, but if I knew my ticket wasn't sold I'd like to go rather than lose out on both the money and performance.
  12. I'm a bit (pleasantly) surprised about Campbell as I didn't think he'd done that many principal roles.
  13. I quite liked the costumes. They seemed futuristic and tribal. But poor Ryoichi Hirano must have done something bad to be punished with that outfit!
  14. I wasn't sure about the McGregor piece at first but it grew on me and got more interesting and even a bit shocking as it went on. I was really impressed by Matthew Ball's dancing. This was the first time I've seen him in a prominent role. The Invitation had excellent choreography and acting by all the leads and Francesca Hayward was especially brilliant. This was my third time seeing Golden Hour and I loved it once again. One of the most beautiful scores I've heard and the choreography fits it like a glove. It's meant to be 40 mintues but it felt like 15 and I didn't want it to end. This was one of the better triple bills I've seen and the company was on excellent form.
  15. I went on Wednesday and there were the loudest cheers and most people standing that I've seen at covent garden in recent memory.
  16. Thanks for your replies. I will hold on to them for now and hope demand increases nearer the time. I thought tickets would fly off the shelves as it's the Bolshoi, which is why I panic bought! I did think of selling them on this site, but they're mid-price tickets and I usually see inexpensive ones listed.
  17. I got a bit overzealous in my Bolshoi booking before casting was announced and I have a couple of tickets I want to return. I'm not sure whether I should return them now as there's still plenty of tickets available or if it's better to return them nearer the time. When you return tickets do they let you know as soon as they've sold, or do you only find out after the performance is over?
  18. [before moving on, I mustn’t forget the very welcome return of Irek Mukhamedov to the stage - still electrifying in his presence, true in his interpretation and generous in his partnering. He must have sweated off as many kilograms dancing in Diego’s fat suit as he used to do in the whole of Spartacus] I didn't realise he was wearing a fat suit!
  19. Casting has just been posted in this forum, look in ballet/dance news.
