  1. hiya, can anyone tell me a bit about the EYB casting days? not really sure what to expect!
  2. I did my intermediate exam today so if you have any more questions feel free to message me:')
  3. I wouldn't go for RAD for the lower grades as the new syllabus is really quite strange (anyone else agree?) and doesn't seem to be as focussed on classical technique as it used to be!
  4. ah I really want to do one of these but they're all so far away
  5. seeing all this just kinda makes me feel like I don't do enough! not suggesting that overtraining is a a positive thing at all but at the end of the day these kids are getting more training, when I was 10 I was only doing 1 hour a week!
  6. trying to fit in as much as possible really!! haven't done any at RAD as of yet ????
  7. thanks taxi4ballet I have an audition for Tring CBA in November actually, so hopefully that will be successful
  8. I know there's probably threads for individual associates courses but I wasn't sure if there was one with multiple... basically I want to do a ballet associates course or something similar, I'm 17 and looking to apply to vocational dance school for September 2016, but I'm trying to figure out if I should bother applying to ballet schools or not! also if anyone knows of any teachers that do private lessons in hertfordshire/Bedfordshire area that'd be fab too. any other suggestions welcome
  9. hiya, idk if there's always a thread about this but I couldn't find anything! I struggle a bit with pointe work, and my teacher has said my arches are fine but my metatarsals are a bit weak and that's my main problem, I was wondering if anyone had any ways I can strengthen them to help? Thanks!
  10. aw I probably did see you tbh, it was all a bit of a blur!
  11. I'm super happy and really surprised!!:') I was 42 wearing a light blue leotard:') what number were you??
  12. I got an email today offering me a place!! I really didn't expect it tbh, but im really excited!! <3
  13. this sounds like a really cool project, I don't have anything you could use at the moment but I hope you find some and look forward to hearing more about it
  14. I was just wondering if anyone knew if the people on the waiting list were contacted either way if they were needed or not or only if they have got a place?
  15. yay!! this is the best thing I've read all day, I loved the last world ballet day I still watch the videos from time to time, I find them very inspiring:') hopefully I won't have too many lessons that day so I can sit and watch it!!
  16. thanks. I'm hoping to go to dance works at some point and I'm looking into the rambert workshops as well! I'm 17
  17. thanks!! I managed to get them swapped though it cost me £10 to send them back! They were really good about it though and sent them back really fast. Second time I sewed on my ribbons with my sewing machine - much easier!
  18. Hiya, I was wondering if anyone knew of any summer workshops in contemporary or ballet around July/August time, that are in or around London? I'm thinking of doing a few rather than an intensive!
  19. I'm having a similar dilemma. I'm currently in Year 12 and did AS Dance and Drama and I'm doing a Level 3 BTEC in Fashion and Clothing which is a 2 year course - meaning if I dropped it after this year I wouldn't get anything for it. I'm dropping Drama and just doing Dance and Fashion next year. My ultimate aim is to go to a vocational dance school but I'm struggling with which ones to apply to and do feel pressured by school to look at uni courses as well which I'm not overly keen on the idea of; but also all of the courses seem to have such different names and there's so many it's stressful looking through and attempting to compare them all! My school is also offering a number of trips to uni open days and we have multiple assemblies/lectures on applying for uni but there doesn't seem to be any kind of focus on any other options that are available!
  20. Hi, so I went to the EYB Senior audition in Stevenage on Monday, I messed up a really easy enchainment and then kinda felt that was it; and then everyone who didn't get in (there was only about 15 of us, there was 60 in the audition) were all put on the waiting list. I wondered if anyone had been in this position before and had any idea on chances of getting in, how many people don't accept their places roughly or whatever? thanks!
  21. ahh this is awesome for me because I'm too old for the senior associates and I'm doing my A Levels at the moment - hoping to apply for vocational training September 2016 so this would be amazing to get into:')
  22. mine were from dancia too!! they were really horrible to sew as well took much longer than normal (did you also find this) and as soon as I finished to put them on the elastic broke.
  23. ok so yesterday after a lot of deliberation I bought some gaynor mindens, got them home and earlier finished sewing on the ribbons, went to put them on and tightened the elastic... I must've pulled the elastic a little too tight because about 3 inches came flying off the end and now the end is lost inside the casing somewhere, I can't even feel whereabouts it is. if anyone has a solution please let me know as I'm having a slight meltdown as you can imagine!!
  24. I'm sure there's probably similar threads already in existence but I'm starting another one anyway! I'm wondering if anyone knows of any shops in London to buy pointe shoes that sell more than one brand? I'm going to sadlers wells next week so anywhere near there or that is easily accessible on the tube would be great??
