  1. My dd is attending with a few others from her dance school to participate with others from local dance schools in an afternoon of dance tomorrow. I am try gutted I can not go to watch as have work commitments. She however is very excited. Is anyone else's dc attending?
  2. Pictures. I was one smug mum a couple of weeks ago as I received a written report from a teacher who was unable to see us at parents evening and he couldn't have been more praiseworthy of DD. Without any prompting he said she never let her absences let her fall behind with her school work! Just what I needed to not just hear, but have written evidence of for any future absences required!
  3. Snowflake, I could literally write a book about authorised/unauthorised absences!! Had a nightmare of a situation back end of last year with dd headmaster/school! Yes, agree you need to write a letter and request that the code be changed. Post a copy to head of governors also! Heads normally back down once you get them involved-I know from experience!
  4. Hi Niccia, I replied on your other thread ealier today. My dd is in year 7 and wasn't offered a place. I think the older you are, the harder it is since the classes are pretty well established so you would have to be pretty outstanding for them to fit you in. Your dd did very well, especially if she was nervous etc. My dd is pretty used to auditions, and to knock backs! She is more MT than dance. A brilliant performer but unfortunately does not have the ballet/dance body! We have had knock backs from Elmust x2 and RBS. We shall just pursue her MT and acting now. She has appeared in professional Xmas productions so we will have that to focus on again later in the year hopefully! Anyway, ballet and tap exams next week to keep us busy for now! Many congratulations again to your DD and keep in touch with how she progresses!! Best of luck x
  5. Niccia, well done to your DD on gaining an associate place! My DD was also there last Sat but unfortunately it was a no for us! I agree with pictures in that the summer school will be good to give her an insight to boarding and the teaching there! My DD did it last year and although loved the dancing, didn't like being away from home! Good luck to your DD with the classes, and your dance journey!
  6. Why oh why is GCSE dance taught by PE teachers and not dance teachers-well it is in our school anyway! DD is only in yr 7 but her dance principal positively frowns when you mention GCSE dance at the school! On top of this, apparently so much extra time is taken up at lunchtimes and after school to prepare for the exam etc. I know we have a couple of years to decide but in people's opinion does further education I.e btec in performing arts like you to have GCSE dance? Drama is a similar problem with most of its teachers being English teachers also and Drama not being their focus!
  7. Hi, just returned from the Hammond for associate class auditions. DD seems to think it went ok. Not getting our hopes up too much for a 'yes' as very few places available. All good experience though. Was anybody else's DC there?
  8. May I say, many congratulations to those who have been successful with obtaining final auditions. How very exciting-you must be super proud! Good luck to you all and fingers crossed you get the funding you need!
  9. DD did this last year and loved the classes & teaching. It is very good value for money! We are looking into her going again this year. Pictures, is your DD going or are you looking elsewhere?
  10. Sending get well wishes! Hope she makes it. And I agree with the comment about echinicia. Works wonders for me.
  11. Bethany Rose? I remember her-she was a beautiful dancer to watch! I have to admit I did love that show and was sad it my lasted two seasons. I think the air show timing was completely wrong!
  12. There is a pizza express, just past the Palace Theatre!
  13. Redroofs, Slyvia young, Italia Conti all do summer MT courses
  14. Well good luck for your dd forthcoming auditions! I hope she gets a place at her preferred choice. I'm sure her associate classes will be of great help! And good luck with the Xmas present!
  15. Foot spa kit for those tired feet? Is your dd auditioning for Royal Ballet school Lema. I note she has auditioned for Tring and Elmhurst. If so what about something from their shop? A nice pen, or a teddy bear? My dd got a nice pen for her teacher from the shop when she auditioned for associate classes.
  16. There is also the prayer dance for more experienced pointe dancers which is a smaller group to morning hours group Hope this helps. It's a lovely ballet-good luck with your DC casting!
  17. In our experience , rehearsals are all within the month leading up to performance!
  18. In my experience of associate auditions it has been school year related. He is very young so hopefully next year will be better for him. A child's very first audition is very daunting and at least he knows what to expect. I agree with the idea of a private lesson before hand which may give him that extra bit of confidence. Good luck
  19. My daughter has just been offered a late level 1 class! Over the moon! Having auditioned for RBS and Elmhurst associates without success, finally someone believes in my dd!!
  20. Wow Pictures! What an exciting trip to London you have planned!! Sounds fab! Hopefully see you tomorrow?
  21. That's great! Will be lovely to see you!
  22. My dd is getting ready for Hammond Summer School tomorrow (residential) and just wondering if any one else on here's dc is going?
