  1. Balletmummy, you can audition at one venue for another location. You just need to ask/ let them know beforehand. A couple of years ago, my dd was unable to make the Manchester audition so she auditioned in Birmingham, but for Manchester classes.
  2. Yes! And in our recent experience, Stockport rather than Manchester.
  3. I would think Birmingham Hippodrome would be too big a theatre. They tend to go for smaller regional theatres.
  4. Lema, where is your dd doing her classes, is it Manchester or Birmingham? I know another dd going into her 3rd year as a JA in year 6 in Manchester. Well done everyone! Unfortunately my dd after two years of trying never got into JA's and now too old :-(
  5. In excellent condition as only worn a handful of times for a show! £12.50 including postage Inbox me if interested
  6. Yes pictures, I remember. I think there are 'bullies' in all walks of life! Just returned from rehearsal and dd and the other girl, a yr 5 pupil who dances at Elmhurst ja's were absolutely stunning to watch. (Dance teacher let us have a sneak preview). We may not have had a positive experience recently but she has risen above it and made me very proud tonight (brought a year to my eye).
  7. Mumontherun. I really feel for you and your dd! We have just had a very similar experience with my dd but not at Vocational school but at EYB. I would go as far to say that my daughter was being 'bullied' by her group of dancers. She can be a little shy round new people and because (I'm sure she was the youngest if the group ), they teased, laughed, and sniggered behind her back and seemed to just pick on anything to bring her down! I'm really proud that she stuck with rehearsals however said each morning she didn't want to go. She danced beautifully and really loved the performances however the back stage nastiness really spoiled the experience for her. It's really knocked her confidence but we are slowly getting back on track . She rehearses tonight as her and another ballet freak are dancing at their school fair a week on Sat so she is thrilled to have been picked by her dance teacher. It does seem that some children are just so cruel but as another has said, it's mainly jealousy as they see others as a threat. It's all a learning curve and makes them a stronger person. Good luck to your dd and the outcome! Thinking of you!
  8. Hi everyone! Amazing performance! Just so professional-we loved it x
  9. Just wondering if anyone else is going to see 'Copellia' in Stockport this evening performed by the English Yoith Ballet? My dd is performing and I'm really looking forward to seeing it!
  10. I found a massive bee on our windowsill in the kitchen today. It was huge and like you it was probably the biggest I've ever seen.
  11. Yes HappyMum, totally agree and feel so bad since I was born and raised in London, but moved north when I was in my early twenties! Love my life in the north but such great opportunities if you live near the capital!
  12. Sounds fantastic! Everything always in London though :-(
  13. Sounds lovely! Have a great weekend, unfortunately I can't get over to Holmfirth this weekend. Hope all goes well. I too saw An August Bank Holiday Lark at The New Vic in Newcastle Umder Lyme. Excellent!!
  14. I feel you would need a full day at each to really benefit! And yes, you need to take the tube (Victoria line) to Kings Cross from Victoria. Good luck
  15. My husband and I saw it's opening night early Feb at Newcastle under Lyme's New Vic theatre. What an amazing performance! Laughter in act 1 and tears in act 2. Brilliant acting and very poignant and moving!
  16. Hi, very well done on your achievements so far! Have you looked at The Hammond in Chester? Good luck
  17. I asked a question on another forum that I started but then have found this one and think it may be more successful. Just wondering if anyone is thinking of The Hammond Summer school?
  18. Thanks Sarahw glad your school enjoyed it. Are they not doing it again this year?
  19. Many thanks for your information picturesinthefirelight That's nice to know. Good luck to your dd
  20. Hi, has anyone booked yet for The Hammond Summer School? Anyone done it before and can give any advice, and is it better to go resedential or as a day student? Looking at this for my DD who is 11 and just about to go into yr 7.

  22. Hi Twiglet, my daughter auditioned for Stockport 11th March and was told along with any others that she was on a reserve list. There was a deadline in the letter of 25th March for those who were successful to respond by (2 weeks) and accept their place. My daughter then got her conformation on a Friday as some had dropped out by the deadline! If you can find out when the deadline is for Nottingham which will probably again be 2-3 weeks after audition (I assume it's Nottingham you are talking about), that should give you some indication. Hope this helps.
