Happymum Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Here we go again ????. The auditions dates are announced! Who is auditioning at Elmhurst this year? My DS will be trying for year 7 place. After dropping my older DD at vocational school this afternoon I will give myself a couple of weeks off before I start to worry about application forms and dreaded photos. But good to have the dates. 5
Karen Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Thank you for flagging this up Happymum. Need to get on with it now too! 1
taxi4ballet Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Good Heavens, is it that time of year already?!! 4
balletmum13 Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 My dd is desperate to audition!! She is going into year 9 now. Have you heard of anyone gaining a place for year ten entry? 1
Picturesinthefirelight Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 There is often quite a bit of movement between the schools going into Year 10.
Happymum Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 Yes, sadly some children are assessed out in year 9 (not only in Elmhurst) so there are places available for new year 10 students. 1
csmith263 Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 My DS will be auditioning for a year 7 place he has his heart set on vocational school!

TBG Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 (edited) My DD will be auditioning for Yr 8. Unsuccessful at finaL audition for Yr 7 place ( came down with flu the day before audition). Not sure how she managed to audition as dh couldn't even get out of bed the following week when he had her flu. Fingers crossed for Yr8. Edited September 16, 2016 by TBG 1

Happymum Posted September 30, 2016 Author Posted September 30, 2016 I've received an email that my DS's audition will be on 29th November. I'm very pleased with my self - I've already book a hotel. I hope I stay organised and calm until the audition process is over ???? 4
balletbean Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 A simple question, as a newbie to all this. Application PHOTOS:- Are they looking for professional photographic studio quality or clear photos taken by a parent in a dance studio setting? I have the info on the positions and clothing but nothing else. I don't want to get it all wrong and lessen any chances because of a simple error Any advice gratefully received. Thank you
Happymum Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 Don't worry about profesional photos. I took my DS's photos my self and in a hall not a Dance studio. Then I let his teacher decide which were the best to send. I did the same 2 years ago with my DD's photos and she was successful in getting a place at more then one Voc. School 2

lilacfairy Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 We took photos ourselves, most places will offer auditions ,after all they are receiving fees for everyone that gets one.
Dancermum Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Does anyone know if for upper school they audition boys & girls together or separately?
balletmum20 Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Does anyone know if for upper school they audition boys & girls together or separately?
Lifeafterballet Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Prelims are together and finals separate as I recall.
Sparkle2015 Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Does anyone know roughly when they would hold the finals?
Noobag06 Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Hello, Sorry to jump in. I just wondered if anyone who has had audition details yet can confirm if they are required to do a solo, and if so, how long? Thank you.
Happymum Posted October 20, 2016 Author Posted October 20, 2016 No solo needed in Elmhurst. For preliminary auditions it will just be an 1,5h long ballet class (including flexibility test). This is how it was done for the last 5 (ish) years, haven't received details for this year but I guess it will be the same 1
