  1. That's a shame. We are just sorting a flat in Tring now and haven't had any problems with the landlord. So far!
  2. I think there was 26! Amazing how you forget these things quickly!
  3. Hi. Congratulations to your daughter. Tring is excellent and my dd has loved every minute of being there. She started in lower sixth and out of the 26 in the year I would say 10 to 13 of them had not been in vocational school before. There is lots of support...I am sure your daughter will thrive there. Pm me if u want any more info.
  4. Fantastic news and best wishes to all your family x
  5. Hi. I spoke to ED and he said there are a couple of boys who are interested in going but they haven't confirmed. Either way . don't worry. Your son will get excellent teaching and there are always several chaperones that are lads. It is an excellent as!
  6. My daughter is a chaperone this year. There are always some boys from uk and overseas that attend. I will email ED who runs it and ask for you if you want. Great teachers again this year
  7. I definitely know of people getting in from reserve list. Lots of movement after all the finals are done and into the summer. Don't lose hope at all and congrats on the place x
  8. I didnt get child benefit but my dd only did 1 A level. If you get a Dada place with the maintenance grant then you don't continue to qualify for tax credit.
  9. I am our schools marketing rep and I put something in every time about our performing arts students.just did a lovely feature on where they have all secured places at. I am mindful to cover everyone as much as possible. Maths challenge...sports success. High achievers and also students who are 'just doing something good'. We are lucky that our school recognises the need of marketing and since being in post I have changed our reporting systems. Major biased tho cause I love the arts x
  10. If they are not on a MDS already from lower school and they have a place for lower sixth then yes, they are part of the DADA auditions.
  11. Good luck SP. Your always so lovely with your words and support for everyone. Wishing you success. You write so beautifully, with such passion and eloquence. Ever considered journalism?
  12. My dd has been to the dance summer school. Its fantastic. Full days and nights! The school where they are is beautiful. My dd has been asked as a chaperone this year so she will see you there! Definitely worth it. They will pick up from Edinburgh airport too. Well done to your dd!
  13. Wow. I just watched your son! He is fantastic. All the best to him. Helen
  14. If you go to the library they have a book there which lists pots of money you can apply for to help with costs of further educational. I found out that a local business supports the arts and gives £250. Not a lot in the big spectrum but certainly helps. Can't remember the name of the book but I am sure the library when know. Its not online so worth a trip if you can go. Hope it helps. Tring boarding is expensive but they have been great and when my daughter became I'll they looked after her so well. Pm me your email and I will send you other links I have found. In the meantime enjoy having time together over the hols.
  15. There are always ways of cutting costs slightly... Take your own bupa out! I made a massive saving this year! Thanks to the help on here
  16. Thats not our experience. As a single parent on less than £21k My dd received a full DaDA and full maintenance grant. She was offered it straight after DaDA audition so point system must have been in effect as we needed the full amount. That said, DaDA covers school fees and maintenance grant covers accommodation and food. But it doesn't so I have to find the money to pay the difference. Its v. Hard. No treats for me but I would not change it. She is loving life and making the most of every experience. My dd did not go to rbs/central associates, just a small local dance school. She did go to Graham Fletcher to. Hope that gives hope !
  17. Take a look at www.thedancesummerschool.co.UK too. Great teachers and full evening entertainment. My dad has been for several years and this year will be a chaperone. Elmhurst is always good too!
  18. I don't have experience of the My course but my dad is there for dance. All of their courses seem very high standard and so much talent there that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tring.
  19. My dad also had this. We saw an osteopath that put her spine and hips back in line. She is now at Tring and when she comes home she has a sports massage and realignment! Dancing is so hard on the body. The cost of treatment is well worth it as my dd doesn't feel hip pain anymore even tho the level of dance has increased. Its all about looking after the body I think. Dancers are very much fine tuned athletes... Just without the appreciation!
  20. It's a lovely audition day. Enjoy and keep us in touch!
  21. She will love it at Tring! Fantastic news!
  22. 3rd year at Tring is being part of their company ..Encore. It's a chance to shine in front of people but also it teaches the students how to act as part of a company. There are students that leave after 2 years as they decide they want uni or other dance courses. Its really up to the individual.
