  1. Yep that is correct. they stopped mine for 2nd year as level 6 diploma is classed as a higher course. You have to be doing 2 or 3 to get CB. Give with one hand and take from another!
  2. My dad just uses no 7 and works just fine!
  3. My daughter is not as academic and although gained excellent GCSEs she didn't want to take A Levels at all. We compromised at A Level art! She is now in upper sixth and has dropped it to do all the morning classes but She has friends who are still doing 2,3 and 4 alongside the IPS level 6 Dance Diploma so I think its really up to the individual and what best works for you. Education is always important and if you are academic then it obviously comes easier. As TutuGirl says...you can always re evaluate at 2nd year but I don't think it makes a difference to them being offered a place. They are just encouraging continued education. Ask any questions you want! Fair few mother's on her of Tringalings. great place. My dad has been happy since day one and is flying there. Good luck and keep us in touch!
  4. No. The washing powder is already in the machine...they just pick a programme and push the button!
  5. My daughter is a prefect this year and no doubt they will all be there to greet you and welcome your dd and you to the Tring family! They are well looked after. Exciting times for all who are starting and returning back!
  6. Voted for both of them. So talented and Tring brings the best out of their students in all dance genre. My daughter loves it there. Exciting final ahead.
  7. Boyband featuring another Tring Park male dancer are also through to the final x
  8. Isn't that what festivals are for tho? This comp simply seems a money maker for tv.
  9. Sorry. Cant give you a lift as i am in leicester but i can bring your daughter and her bags home to mine and you can pick her up later sat or sun if thats any help at all!
  10. I have been to Trings senior dance show and i thought it was brilliant. Great original storyline. Lots of big numbers that the students were in for both classical and jazz. Loved it!
  11. Agree. My dd took just one A Level ( get to keep child benefit as long as one took!) That allows her to do most of the morning classes with 2nd and 3rd years. Some of her friends took 3 and along with IPS its a fair bit of work. Most dropping one going into next year. But like encarte says its up to you and dd. We do know a few taking the full 4 and they are doing fine, they are gifted with academics too and coping fine. also dont think that you are tied in. We know of dancers who sign up for A Levels then decided it wasnt for them and dropped out after the first term. Hope it helps!
  12. Tring is a wonderful place. My dd is just finishing lower sixth and has been welcomed warmly and made such nice friends. They are like a family. Just watched the senior show last night and the standard is off the wall. Get excited for what your son will enjoy and achieve. Keep us posted!
  13. Yes you get to take them to their rooms. Then they want you to get off tho! X
  14. I emailed them yesterday on this and Helen said sge hoped to get final balance details out this week by email.
  15. My dd had done very little contemporary before going at 16. Summer schools and an hour a week for six months before she went. Same as you our dance school didnt cover it but now she loves it and has settled into the style.
  16. Hi all. In case any dancers are near ...my dd's old Dance School are running a syllabus based ss for grade 5 to advanced 1 week July 14 to 18 and primary to grade 4 during 18 Aug to 22Aug. All exam bases to prepare for exam work specifically so only good if you are doing ISTD work. Great standard and high up teachers within the ISTD. If you want further info you can pm me or call the principal direct on 07850 084797. Just tell them u saw it on here. I did ask the teacher before posting this and she is really happy if students attend who are not part of the school as long as they are already learning under the ISTD.
  17. Yes my dd also just does one A Level so we can keep CB! Its still allows her to do plenty of morning classes which she loves. She also loves being at Tring!
  18. First year i sent them all on one word document! Dd still got a place so i think getting the right position is more important than the setting and where theyw have been taken.
  19. I sent a bouquet of sweets to my dd when she made finals of the schools comp and I couldn't make it. Work wouldn't give me time off It was great though.she loved it and got to share the sweets with everyone so it went down well! She loves just getting a letter though...nothing beats opening a card or letter just saying hi! We are all so savy with social media and texting but snail mail still rocks !
  20. I wouldn't worry. Let her enjoy these last few months at her dance school in the knowledge that a great experience with like minded children is waiting for her come sept. Be proud she has a places there are so many orhers who would love one!
  21. I also sing Trings praises. My dd is loving it there. She is lower sixth but knew when we went for the open day it was her top choice. She loves the ethos and comradery they all have. The suport from each other is fantastic. After watching shows by them I am blown away by what they achieve. Lower school included. Its where your dd and you feel that's more important not what anyone else says! Go with your gut feeling.
