  1. Unless you consider that very elegant prima ballerina wearing jewels from the Tsar, and other men, on her tutu, as a nod in that direction?
  2. At the ROH it's only without a big main cloakroom while the building work is going on, and they apologise for not, at the moment having a proper place for coats etc, only a number of smaller temporary ones at different levels.
  3. The new Fille programme also lists her as a First Soloist with the RB, with "In the 2015/16 and 2016/17 Seasons she is on a leave of absence dancing with Semperoper Ballett, Dresden, as a principal."
  4. And with a number of RB, ex-RB, and BRB dancers from the Hull area I'd expect something from them too.
  5. Have they redone the 2013 Ashton Celebration? The listing for this package one gives different casts for Thais and Voices of Spring.
  6. "Who's got a head like a pingpong ball?" (Sung round a scout/guide campfire) And anyone else know "Oh father, look at Uncle Jim, diving in the bathtub, learning how to swim" ? That's the one that really gets me. (Perhaps these misplaced earworms need their own section, so people don't alight on them unexpectedly and get caught!!!)
  7. And a mesmerising tour de force performance it was.
  8. The RB Lilac Fairy is a tutu dancing role. She briefly went into elegant long dress, I think it was the Makarava version of SB, but then quickly got her tutu back
  9. As regards the creature and the book. I see it, not finding the book for the first time, but having seen William learn from his book with Justine, the creature realises he can learn from the book in his pocket.
  10. Worth it to hear the spell-binding Walfram
  11. Ballet training could help with that shrinkage
  12. Yes, it was Marcelino Sambe. And what a clown he was, brilliantly danced and clowned!
  13. A quick comment. They both did well, and I loved their interpretations of their roles.
  14. Could they have been made specially for the TV so the 'colours' would give the desired impression in black and white? (I've seen face make-up for early TV reproduced which looked horrendous, but just right on the TV film)
  15. In the ticket exchange forum I've put details of a Traviata central balc standing ticket for sale. Margaret N
  16. I've posted details for this on ticket exchange forum. Please respond there if interested Margaret N
  17. An excellent evening in the Clore studio, with Leslie Collier and Sir Peter Wright coaching Akane Takada in Giselle. It'll be interesting to see the resulting performances. Our 'compere' for the evening was a very smartly dressed and well-spoken Alexander Campbell. (Now, why did I think of you, Janet McNulty?)
  18. "The Fairy's Wedding of The Shades" - Is that a magic wand waved to give Bayadere a happy ending? Could be interesting!
  19. I don't know what the arrangements are for Friends of the RB School booking for this years' performances at Holland Park (the ones that used to be in the Linbury) on June 30th(eve), July 1st(eve) and 2nd(mat and eve), but they should be available when general booking for Holland Park Opera opens on Feb15th online and Feb29th phone.
  20. And congratulations from me, and from my sister-in-law, Jill Norman, one time Akele of Swanland Cubs
  21. We were told at the Insight that it was being filmed for Sky TV. :-( No mention of whether there'll be a dvd.
  22. And besides the delicious Sugarplum of Yuhui Choi we had the delightful Rose Fairy of Francesca Hayward And I second the comment on the excellent behaviour of the young audience. There was a real, excited, chattering buzz before the start, then it all went silent as the lights went down - that magical moment.
