  1. I was extremely fortunate to see the ballet for real last year in Hamburg and I absolutely love it! I will watch again over the weekend. I was treated to Alina Cojacaru as the Princess/Odette - fabulous! I thought the way Neumeier wove the story around King Ludwig's incarceration was very clever.
  2. I have thoroughly enjoyed most of the NYCB snippets that have been streamed. Unfortunately I didn't watch Ballo a second time and missed Rotunda. The only one I haven't liked was Wheeldon's After The Rain. The Balanchine pieces have all been glorious what a genius he was and the Ratmansky DSCH was a pure delight from start to finish (including Ratmansky himself what a lovely man!).
  3. I was fortunate to see the Dutch premiere of Frida in February. I hadn't seen Broken Wings but loved Frida. Now having seen ENB's stream it was good to compare. I find myself preferring the Dutch version but only because there is more time to develop the storyline. Dance wise there is little between them as it's the same choreographer. So if you want more see Frida. Either way both are great productions and I enjoyed them both immensely.
  4. It would be helpful if people creating events in the calendar could please put the link to the performance in the text box when they create events so you can "click and go". I have done this for the Polish SB.
  5. Ahh it jumped and froze on me too do it wasn't my connection then. I saw Glass Pieces in Rome in January for the first time and really enjoyed it even if the music is a bit repetitive.
  6. Rome Opera Ballet are streaming yet another Sleeping Beauty with Nunez and Lantratov on you tube
  7. Irina Perren at Michailovsky Ballet notified a gala she is in is available on YouTube
  8. I put the link in the calendar event as I found I could add it to calendar.
  9. POB confirmed Giselle was geoblocked for copyright reasons. I must say that the Polish National Ballet Sleeping Beauty I watched yesterday was beautifil I really enjoyed it and especially seeing Dawid Trzesensimiech (ex Royal ballet) as Prince Desire. It was really lovely beautiful set and costumes (if a little orangey in aura at times!) It was esepcailly good that the Price and carabosse were dressed in silvery grey so it was easy to see them when the lights went down. It will air again on 18 and 25 April at 5pm UK time. Chinara Alizade was Aurora but I missed that she did not put her hands above her head when doing the Rose Adagio 😞
  10. Anna T and Matthew are real life partners so that probably helps. MG was really good in this.
  11. How can we add to the dates? The Polish National Ballet are showing Sleeping Beauty with ex RB dancer now principal Dawid Trzensimiech on 13/18/25 April https://teatrwielki.pl/en/the-theatre/news/single-news/n/spiaca-krolewna-online/ La Scala Milan have ballets and operas being released daily until 21/4/20 on demand for 30 days each via Raiplay.it not least SB with Semionova and DonQ with Osipova/Sarafanov The releases are mostly of operas as well calendar here (in italian) http://www.teatroallascala.org/it/calendario-trasmissioni-rai.html It helps to follow @raicultura and @teatroallascala on Twitter to get notifications of releases - They are using Raiplay.it as the platform which I can see on computer but I am getting a casting device so I can watch on TV. Sleeping Beauty - released 27/3 https://www.raiplay.it/programmi/labellaaddormentata?wt_mc=2.social.tw.raicultura_raicultura.&wt Don Q (was released 3/4/2020) https://www.raiplay.it/video/2020/03/Don-Chisciotte-1atto-bc39b9c4-355c-40ed-867d-697b6ca0fa3b.html Le Corsaire release date 21/4 but it is already on unless it's a different cast/show https://www.raiplay.it/video/2018/12/La-Corsaire-a4d34d86-5c89-4245-b58d-8941ecff56d3.html As regards PARIS OPERA BALLET I can't see anything it say geo-blocked and they said on Twitter we should be able to view but I can't. I really wanted to see the Robbins bill next week 😞 If anyone know how to view POB offerings please let me know!
  12. Yes it is a Ratmansky revamp done in 2009 if I remember rightly. I've seen it a few times in Amsterdam and always enjoy it. I agree with Janet about the chop and change in the gpdd I felt the normal order was interrupted! Nutcracker and The Mouse King is being streamed from tomorrow and next week Coppelia both of which are nice productions. I'm hoping the next two will work on their YouTube channel, they had coding issues with DQ so I couldn't watch it on the TV and had to use the computer. That said I've ordered myself a Chrome Cast device so I can watch what's on my phone on the TV.
  13. I'm watching The Bolshoi's Marco Spada on YouTube on the TV tonight. (Couldn't get DonQ from Dutch National Ballet in my TV so I'll watch on the computer.)
  14. La Scala Milan are to show an opera/ballet every day until 21 April and each video is available on demand for 30 days Kicks off with Sleeping Beauty starring Polina Semionova and Timofej Andrijashenko (sp) as per the above https://www.raiplay.it/programmi/labellaaddormentata?wt_mc=2.social.tw.raicultura_raicultura.&wt Dutch National Ballet will be showing ballet as well - including Ratmanksy's Don Quixote!!! Schedule tba. No idea when I will fit all this in.
  15. BBC Arts are showing all sorts of cultural things from exhibitions, plays, a book festival to dance looks worth a watch/listen/read. https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2020/culture-in-quarantine
  16. I thought it was very uninteresting rep when you consider what they must have in their vaults.
  17. I was clearing a load of stuff out yesterday (to prepare for WFH) and I happened upon 2 ROH booklets - you know those lovely 1/4ly ones they used to do and Polunin was on the front and inside cover - he was in his black Rudolph costume and I had both copies signed by him. I don't think her ever actually danced Rudolph at ROH in the end did he?
  18. I would also remember how ROH treated its regulars in the recent past by increasing prices to attract new audiences and to discourage its bread and butter regulars from coming so often. If my show in May is cancelled I am sorry to say I will be asking for a refund. This elephant doesn't forget.
  19. Please note that Bavarian State Opera are now streaming JEWELS on Saturday 21/3 instead of Swan Lake I think because the show isn't actually being performed to be live streamed. This is the Jewels that was live streamed last year ( I remember being really cross with Somova for wearing her own Mariinsky tutu for Diamonds - it was so old, greying and grubby looking which ruined the overall look as BSB had all beautiful shiny new costumes - Somova stuck out like a sore thumb yikes!)
  20. Zurich Opera have now cancelled all shows until 30 April - they are supposed to be "crediting" client accounts with the ticket price value to be used indefinitely against future shows - cheeky. They should be issuing proper refunds not a credit. I am not happy about that. If you want a refund you have to apply on a form - but no option to repay to the credit card you paid with as they ask for bank details. So out of touch/old fashioned.
  21. Zurich Opera House has cancelled all shows until 30 April. I was due to see Nutcracker next week but I will no rearrange my trip. Oddly they are only crediting funds to client theatre accounts though not issuing proper refunds unless you specifically request buy completing a form!!! I am not very happy about that, albeit I only bought cheap tickets anyway but if they cancel they should refund.
  22. When asked ROH advised me they will contact patrons as and when events are curtailed in the UK - meantime they are liaising with PHE.
  23. Oh dear - I hope the dancers are all Ok and that the show will proceed on 20th as I am going to Zurich to see it. If not then hopefully our tickets will be refunded. As it stands audience numbers have been reduced to 900 anyway to comply with local restrictions.
  24. Teatro de'll Opera Roma has cancelled several ballet and operas and I believe other Italian theatres are also reducing audience numbers to within prescribed limits. Zurich Opera Theatre has reduced audience to 900 persons. All seems sensible to me Just hope I get to see Nutcracker in Zurich in 2 weeks time.
