  1. They did the same with the 21st Century Choreographers stream. The live performance started at 7pm and the stream at 7.30pm. This allowed them to stream the ballets without an interval break. 'The Statement' followed directly after the Kyle Abraham piece. Might this mean that, although there will be a delay of 30 minutes before they show the performances of Apollo and the Tchaikovsky pas de deux, the performance of Dances at a Gathering will be shown live? Edited to suggest that maybe the Beauty stream is scheduled to start an hour after the beginning of the live performance so as to 'eliminate' two intervals.
  2. Might the rehearsal have been for one of the diverts in the Beauty mixed bill?
  3. 4. I'm not sure what you're looking at, Lynette, but, if you go to the calendar view, you'll find that there are 7 Swan Lakes between those dates (8 if you include the schools' matinée) https://www.roh.org.uk/calendar?date=2022-05
  5. New York Dialects Livestream postponed The following has been sent to subscribers: "Unfortunately, due to the impact of a seven-day lockdown in Victoria (as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak), we have had to reschedule our upcoming season of New York Dialects including our livestream. The good news is you won't miss out on seeing this incredible program, which critics in Sydney have hailed as "close to perfection". You can now watch the New York Dialects livestream in real time at 7.15pm AEST Thursday 14 October, or at your convenience until 5.30pm AEST Saturday 16 October."
  6. According to the ROH performance data base, it was Emma Jane Maguire. http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/performance.aspx?performance=4123&row=0
  7. Here's a quote from the website: " Purchase all four ballets and your 20% discount is automatically applied at checkout." i.e. there isn't a button for the season package. You have to book the productions one at a time and the discount is applied once you've booked the fourth one. It's a very fiddly process as you have to keep going backwards and forwards.

  9. A friend just sent me this link. I'm not sure whether or not this is completely new but it's, certainly, the first time I've seen it
  10. In a recent email from the ROH there was a link to the page from which all cast sheets will be available on the day of the performance. https://www.roh.org.uk/about/cast-sheets
  11. In case anyone was as confused as I was when it seemed that Rachmaninov had written such Mozartian music, it turns out that whoever posted these details got the music for Valentino Zucchetti's pieces the wrong way round. Mozart wrote the music for 'Outwardly Finds' and Yasmine Naghdi's solo was to the Rachmaninov.
  12. Search for messages from 'esales@roh.org.uk' with the subject line 'Order Confirmation' . These messages detail your original purchase(s) under the heading 'Tickets' . Below this, under the heading 'Gift Certificates,' you'll find your 'Redemption Code'. edit: apologies for the duplication. I wrote this before seeing bridiem's post above.
  13. The first quote comes from the "terms and conditions of sale": https://www.roh.org.uk/policies/terms-and-conditions-of-sale. To access the second quote, hover over "tickets and events" and, on the right hand sign you'll see 'returns and refunds'. Click on that and you'll find the second quote: https://www.roh.org.uk/about/ticket-refunds
  14. The exchange policy detailed above might, possibly, be temporary and limited to the duration of the current crisis. I just noticed the following on the ROH website: Ticket refunds We stand by our 'Book with Confidence, Exchange with Ease' pledge, as we know how important it is in current times. If you are not able to come to the theatre due to Covid-19, you can exchange your ticket or tickets for a gift certificate up to 24 hours prior to a performance.
  15. There's no mention of reselling. The following extract from the 'terms and conditions' makes it sound as if their new policy is similar to that of Sadler's Wells or The Barbican - i.e. you can return your tickets for credit (gift certificate) provided it's 24 hours before the performance. It seems too good to be true. Maybe they've just left something out? Here's what the 'terms and conditions' say: 2. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EXCHANGE 2.1. Tickets may only be exchanged to a ROH Gift Certificate. We are unable to exchange tickets to another ROH production. You may exchange your tickets for a Gift Certificate up to 24 hours before the scheduled performance. 2.2. All exchanges must be requested by email to boxoffice@roh.org.uk 2.3. The ROH Gift Certificate will be emailed to the email address on the registered account. 2.4. – All Gift Certificates are valid for 36 months from the date of issue 2.5. - During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the return of any ticket(s) will not supersede the requirement for social distancing inside the auditorium as legislated by current Government guidelines. For this reason, only entire seating groups can be returned for sale; single tickets cannot be returned unless they were originally purchased as a single ticket.
  16. Your memories are correct, Alison. According to the Performance Database, it was performed several times in 1994: http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/production.aspx?production=4465&row=0C Edited to add that Cooper, Trevitt and Nunn all appeared in Popular Song
  17. Not a total fantasy. I remember the Royal Ballet doing a Mark Morris Ballet around 19/20 years ago.... ....just looked it up: Gong in 2002: http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/work.aspx?work=253&row=7&letter=G&genre=Ballet& Edited to add that the first night cast included Darcey Bussell, Alina Cojocaru, Marianela Nuñez and Edward Watson. Edited again. I've just managed to find the link to the ballet.co.uk reviews for this bill, which included Wheeldon's Tryst and Ek's Carmen. http://web.archive.org/web/20030109034932/http://www.danze.co.uk/dcforum/happening/3119.html
  18. Sadly your prediction was correct. The following was contained in a message just received from the RBS: The Summer Performances are still a bit of an uncertainty. We are, however, determined for the students to perform and will do everything we can to ensure they do. Sadly, we will not be at Opera Holland Park this year, but we very much hope to be performing in the Royal Opera House. Let's hope that the Main House performance is able to go ahead.
  19. It was filmed in December 2016. Edited to add that it does star Ako Kondo and Andrew Killian but that Killian is Dr Coppélius. Chengwu Guo is Franz.
  20. Collier does appear in one of the diverts in Act 2. She's listed in the 'Pastorale' along with Carole Hill and Wayne Sleep. Maybe someone saw her name in the cast list and just assumed that she had a principal role?
  21. Just checked the the Sky Arts website and it’s scheduled for tomorrow at 12.20pm.
  22. Re catering arrangements, the following was in a recent Friends' email: "We are delighted to announce that the Piazza Terrace and Restaurant will be open around December performances. There are two and three-course menus from which to choose. We are also offering a children's menu, featuring such delights as potato gnocchi and vanilla cheesecake. Watch out for the email to ticket holders that will be sent next week. We encourage you to book quickly as we have limited capacity. Sadly due to Covid restrictions, we are unable to provide services in any of our other bars or restaurants." However there's no mention of ordering drinks via the app. Presumably it won't be possible if the bars are closed.
  23. I just checked the Radio Times archive for the date of broadcast and they have it as December 30, 2000. https://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/cfd8ed9746884d49b345be09ed0458fd According to Alina Cojocaru's bio (which is still on the ROH website) she was promoted in April 2001 http://www.roh.org.uk/people/alina-cojocaru Edited to add that, as BBB says, she did do both roles in the 2001/2 season (i.e. after she had been promoted to principal )
