WEBSITE VIEWS FROM SEATS AT ROYAL OPERA HOUSE
Bluebird replied to alison's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Saodan's method helps but you have to know which level the seat is on and which door is used to access it: -
This one too (which reviews both of yesterday's performances): https://slippedisc.com/2022/04/alastair-macaulay-triple-ashton-returns-to-covent-garden/

National Dance Awards (for 2021)
Bluebird replied to Irmgard's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
If you click on the link you'll find the following: The qualifying period for performances, both live in the UK and digital (available in the UK) was between 1st January and 31st December 2021 Since Kaneko's Swan Lake was in 2022, it wouldn't qualify. She could, however, qualify for next year's nominations. However, this would, of course, depend on how many members of the Dance Section of the Critics' Circle saw her performance. Edited to add link referred to above: https://criticscircle.org.uk/nominations-for-national-dance-awards-announced/ -
Royal Ballet Insight Events - News & links
Bluebird replied to John Mallinson's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
It's not a glitch. The booking dates have been missing for several weeks. When I wrote to the Box Office at the beginning of this month, they gave me the following reason: "The details for Next Generation Festival have not yet been confirmed, we will update the website when we have more information about dates."- 537 replies

English National Ballet - The Forsythe Evening
Bluebird replied to alison's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Indeed, Anna. I only just thought to check their twitter feed and found the tweet below. Clearly a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing! @TfL Hi Chris, thanks for getting in touch and sorry for any disruption to your journey. Angel station is closed due to the temporary unavailability of station staff. Thanks, Sue.- 78 replies

English National Ballet - The Forsythe Evening
Bluebird replied to alison's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
The TFL website gives no indication that Angel station is closed. This is the only information it gives: "From Saturday 15 January to mid May 2022, the Northern line will be closed between Kennington and Moorgate as part of major upgrade works. During this time, Angel Station is expected to be busy between 07:45-08:45 and 16:30-18:45. Please consider travelling at the quieter times for a more comfortable journey. If you must travel at the busier times, allow more time for your journey" Edited to add that I've just found a possible source of the confusion. Angel Station is due to be closed next Saturday, April 16 (as well as Good Friday, April 15) "NORTHERN LINE: Good Friday 15 and Saturday 16 April, no service between Euston (Bank Branch) / Charing Cross and Stockwell / Battersea Power Station."- 78 replies

English National Ballet - The Forsythe Evening
Bluebird replied to alison's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
From The Box Office have sent me an email offering tickets to The Forsythe Evening but the prices quoted are more expensive than are available from Sadler's Wells itself. - eg they are selling £25 tickets for £28.75. Maybe Capybara has been sent a different link?- 78 replies

By using Saodan’s method. Ignore the above attempt to give you the link (I'm unable to delete it) This link should work better: https://www.balletcoforum.com/topic/19277-royal-ballet-don-quixote-spring-2019/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-269428

ROH "Spring" booking - problems and experiences

You just need to pass on the exact redemption code. I've often used redemption codes given to me by members of my family and they have gone through without any problems. -

If you mean the very beginning when she becomes a swan, I’m pretty sure it was Ginevra Zambon- 1,276 replies

Here's the link to the view from Balcony Standing B73: http://d33ex4wp0jsts.cloudfront.net/venues/main-stage/level-3-balcony-3e/b-73-stage-view-1280x853.jpg From this photo, the view does appear to be very restricted. Perhaps somebody who has actually stood there could confirm?

Royal Ballet - Romeo and Juliet - Winter 2022
Bluebird replied to MJW's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
I've never seen Isabel Lubach as one of the harlots. That doesn't, of course, guarantee that it's a début at tomorrow's matinée performance but I think it might well be. I haven't, yet, been able to find the casting for tomorrow evening. -
ENGLISH NATIONAL BALLET: RAYMONDA
Bluebird replied to capybara's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Indeed, Shiori Kase's performance on Saturday was far more 'spirited' than it had been on the opening night. On the opening night, her Act 1 characterisation, in particular, had been somewhat subdued. That certainly wasn't the case on Saturday. -

Unfortunately the sight lines aren't good everywhere in the Barbican Theatre. When the ROH was closed in the late nineties, we saw a couple of operas there. We sat at the extreme side of the Circle, in row FF, and were not able to see any action at our side of the stage. I would estimate that we missed around a quarter of the stage from those seats.
-
The seatplan.com website has photos of the views from many of the seats in the Barbican Theatre: https://seatplan.com/london/barbican-theatre/seating-plan/ Edited to add that I've just checked the photos of the view from AA1 in the Upper Circle and they're both photos of the Anything Goes set!

Royal Ballet - Romeo and Juliet - Winter 2022
Bluebird replied to MJW's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Explanation I just found in the Performance History in a Romeo & Juliet programme from 2002: "The version usually performed contains 52 musical numbers. In the present production a few minor cuts have been made to maintain the dramatic impetus: a folkdance from Act II and the Mandoline Serenade from Act III have been omitted. The latter has been interpolated into the ballroom scene in Act I." (written by Ivor Guest) Edited to add that I am, of course, assuming that the Mandoline Serenade, referred to in the article by Ivor Guest, is the one where Juliet is strumming the mandolin while her friends, and then Romeo, dance.
