  1. I've just checked the original German and compared it to the Google translation. I'm afraid that, on this occasion, Google Translate got it completely wrong! For some reason Google Translate changed the word order. They put a phrase in the wrong place and made nonsense of the original text. For those who know German, the original is below. I've highlighted the phrase which refers to the initial five seasons of her contract and mentions that she's succeeding Christian Spuck.
  2. I'm not sure where you found that translation. Below is what I found on their website. It does seem that Cathy Marston's contract is, initially, for five seasons but I don't see any indication that Spuck will be returning after that. Renowned choreographer Cathy Marston will take over as new Ballet Director and Chief Choreographer of the Ballett Zürich. For an initial period of five years, this British-born, Swiss-bred artist will succeed Christian Spuck for the 2023/24 season, after he takes over artistic directorship of the Staatsballett Berlin. Spuck has successfully led the Ballett Zürich since 2012, and his switch to Berlin with the 2023/24 season will see him leading Germany’s largest independent ballet company. https://www.ballett-zuerich.ch/en/
  3. Re Cinderella Gala March 27 Amphitheatre L48 £45 A friend can no longer use the ticket I bought her for the Cinderella Gala, March 27. I was just about to return it to the Box Office but thought I should check here in case somebody on the Forum might want to use it. It's in the Amphitheatre, on the aisle immediately behind the staircase (L48). It's cheaper than other seats in that area because it's considered restricted view as it has a ledge in front of it. The advantage of this is that you have no audience members in front of you. If interested, please post here and also send me a PM. If there's no interest, I'll return it to the Box Office at the beginning of next week.
  4. I didn’t buy a programme but took a photo of the relevant page of a friend’s programme. Apologies for the quality of the photo.
  5. I’ve just checked the price of the same seats for the Kaufmann Werther (which will be very much in demand) They are £18 (as opposed to £22 for Beauty and Cinderella)
  6. Below are other examples which illustrate the thinking of those who set the prices. i.e. they clearly think a restricted view is less important for ballet than it is for opera! Front row Upper Slips (the ones furthest from the stage) Sleeping Beauty £22 Cinderella £22. Barber of Seville £15 Marriage of Figaro £16.
  7. Many thanks for this fascinating review, Sheila. I just saw that tonight's performance has been cancelled due to today's strikes but they haven't cancelled the cinema relay as they recorded the March 4 performance and are intending to stream that to cinemas.
  8. I have the original cast saved on my computer and it was as follows: Saturday 28 April 2018, 7.30pm Takada McRae Hay Choe Whitehead

  10. Also Elgar’s wife in Ashton’s Enigma Variations. She was due to be filmed as the gypsy in Two Pigeons but, due to injury, was replaced by Fumi Kaneko. Since she’s such a wonderful Ashton dancer, I’m hoping she’ll be the Fairy Godmother in the Cinderella cinema relay.
  11. The opera programmes are often more substantial than the ballet programmes and usually have a number of varied and interesting articles in them.
  12. Ticket spoken for. Lachlan, I'll need an email address so as to be able to forward the ticket to you.
  13. I'm unable to use my ticket for tomorrow's Tannhäuser rehearsal which starts at 6pm. It's free of charge to anyone who's able to use it. Despite being in the rear amphitheatre (U55) it has an excellent full view. If interested, please post here and send me a PM.
  14. The seat view doesn’t make the restriction very clear but part of stage right is definitely not visible from B16.
  15. I just checked the price of stalls circle B16. I I know it’s restricted as I’ve sat there (in the days when it was only £32). The price is definitely £112!
  16. Thank you oncnp. I've just tried to do this. I hope it's worked!
  17. Sorry, Alison, but I've searched everywhere for the 'calendar tab' you mention and have been unable to find it. Maybe you could post the Finnish National Ballet's Liam Scarlett Carmen for me?
  18. Finnish National Ballet's website is streaming Liam Scarlett's Carmen. It appears to have been recorded a couple of days ago (January 21) and, according to the website, it will remain available for streaming until May 20: https://oopperabaletti.fi/en/stage24/carmen-ballet-recording/ Maybe somebody could add this to the Upcoming Events? I've forgotten how to do this and haven't been able to find the instructions.
  19. The production dates from 2006 but the costumes were changed some years later so as to be closer to the original Messel designs. Might it have been during Monica Mason's final year as director - i.e. the 2011/12 season? I'm sure somebody will remember.
  20. There will be a matinée on August 5. Here are the dates and prices for the Summer Season. I just posted them on the Summer Season thread so I hope it's OK to repeat them here: https://media.wordfly.com/roh/2022-23-bp4-pricing-v2.pdf?utm_source=wordfly&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2023_Jan_Friends_Enews_13&utm_content=version_A&emailsource=70498
  21. Dates and prices for the Summer Season are in the Friends' E-news that was sent out this evening: https://media.wordfly.com/roh/2022-23-bp4-pricing-v2.pdf?utm_source=wordfly&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2023_Jan_Friends_Enews_13&utm_content=version_A&emailsource=70498
  22. Assuming Spotify gives the music in the order used by NDT, I think the items might have been rearranged for the Australian Ballet production. Also, some pieces appear to have been changed. Before booking, some people might like to explore the music used so I've pieced together the information which was given at the end of last June's stream of the Australian Ballet production and have added extra details found on the Australian Ballet website (https://australianballet.com.au/blog/a-to-z-of-kunstkamer) and have come up with the following: If anyone who also watched the stream notices any inaccuracies in the following, I'd be grateful if they'd point them out. Part One I Archive: Purcell arr.
