  1. Wow from me too!!! I did NOT see that coming. And I do have conflicted feelings. It's a coup for BRB in various ways, and I have a huge amount of affection and respect for him, and it will obviously bring them (an even higher) profile and publicity etc (and I hope attract donors). But I also hope that he acts very much as director, not as choreographer, and I can't honestly say that I have always felt great confidence about his artistic judgement (as opposed to his dancing). And what about all his work in/for Cuba? I hope he will be able to continue some of that. But I do hope it will work well for him and all at BRB!
  2. Yes - sorry, I just copied and pasted the tweet; but it should have said Friday (they've now corrected their original tweet).
  3. Seen on Twitter: cast change for Manon - due to injury, Rupert Pennefather will be replaced by Francesco Gabriele Frola for Thursday's (18 Jan) matinee performance at the London Coliseum.
  4. I think the point is that the summary page is the only page people (except Forum members who sadly now know better) are normally going to look at. Why would you click on the calendar date - let alone sign in, assuming you have an account which a lot of people don't - when the casting info is apparently already in front of you?
  5. Offering someone a contract does not imply (or require) agreement with their views. That said, these pronouncements are so obnoxious that they make me wonder if Polunin really understands what he's doing. I assume that he doesn't have an agent/manager/PR adviser; if he does, he's clearly not listening to them.
  6. I'm very sorry to hear this - I wish I'd known in advance even if I couldn't have gone to the performance. She's been a wonderful performer and a wonderful company member and she'll be very much missed. I wish her every happiness.
  7. I had assumed that for things like this it was a three-line whip and that the dancers (at least the leading ones) would really have no choice but to be there. Clearly not!
  8. I heard this programme by chance and thought it was wonderful!
  9. Just seen on Twitter: due to injury, Jurgita Dronina will be replaced by Rina Kanehara in the role of Odette/Odile for tomorrow's matinee performance.
  10. But that situation has arisen this season, so it's not unreasonable to fear that it might again. (Though I agree - and hope - that it would have been announced by now if so.)
  11. I'm so sorry about Corrales. I suppose (hope) that part of the reason he's being replaced for performances right into March may be that all this rep is new to him, so it's not just a question of brushing up a role (which would/could be quicker once he's fit again) but of learning it from scratch.
  12. Just seen on Twitter that due to illness Joseph Caley is replaced tonight by Isaac Hernandez.
  13. I assumed it was just because he won't be back from Cats yet - or was he due back by then?
  14. Yes, really interesting interview. Made me understand how crucial the conductor is for ballet, in that the orchestra absolutely have to follow him/her given that they can't see anything for themselves. (Of course orchestras always should follow the conductor! But that doesn't necessarily always happen all the time. And unlike with choral or operatic collaborators, the players can't see the dancers so the conductor is their eyes.)
  15. Great pics, Don Q Fan! Thanks for posting and I'm glad you enjoyed the performance so much.
  16. It would be helpful if they would supply consistent information about their performances/tickets rather than shooting the messenger. And the website still says 'limited availability' where in fact none, etc. Very irritating! Hope you enjoy the performance, Bruce!
  17. I see a bit of professional one-upmanship starting here. Let's just acknowledge that we're all stars, and we've all nailed it, and we're all incredibly proud of ourselves and each other, shall we?
  18. I think it was a good bill for adults. But with a different middle ballet it could have been a good bill for families/children too. I suppose it just depends what the RB/ROH decided they wanted to offer at Christmas. Not everything has to be suitable for children; but it's a bit surprising that they didn't want to target that market too (as an alternative to Nutcracker).
  19. I can only assume that this bill was not in fact aimed at families/children, but as an alternative bill to The Nutcracker for those NOT looking for a family/child-friendly show.
  20. It begins to sound as if we could form a company. What about The Royal National BalletForum Company? We've all been there after all. 😆🧚‍♂️🧚‍♀️
