  1. Glad you're sorted. We still haven't heard back from white lodge about the birmingham audition so I'll maybe have to give them a call incase I have missed it too
  2. I'm looking for Easter Intensives for my 12 year old dd currently working at Intermediate level & trying to put together a list for her to look at before we decide. So far I have Malvern Ballet Seminars, Masters of Ballet & Ballet Boost. Are there any others worth taking a look at that I have missed?
  3. Has anyone received confirmation of auditions for white lodge? We selected the Birmingham audition for a year 8 place & I think the date for that is 1st February but haven't heard anything since
  4. Yes dd has an audition date for the 11th. She will be auditioning for year 8.
  5. Can anyone point me in the direction of where to find the poses for the photographs for Tring?
  6. Pickford Winter Classes are on 2nd & 3rd January at Dancexchange in Birmingham. Errol is also running classes on 18th - 22nd December from intermediate level up also at Dancexchange
  7. There were a few similar on sale on the Bloch website at a good price depending on what size you were after though I'm guessing it would still probably be more expensive than what they would be at wholesale prices. Good luck with the search 😀
  8. I immediately thought Bloch or Mirella though I looked up the Bloch website & didn't see that particular leotard on it. There are some that are quite similar though. I wonder could it be an old style?
  9. That was one thing I worried about so definitely best to call the airport & the airline to check. The flight we were on was within the UK on easyJet. Admittedly I didn't call ahead as I just didn't think until I was in the queue for security but would definitely call ahead next time to be sure. Our measurements were slightly bigger but again I tucked it gently under my arm & kept my fingers crossed. I did however book a seat with extra legroom & put it at my feet rather than risk it being bashed about with other peoples luggage in the overhead lockers. It wasn't the most comfortable flight but was only a short one & the tutu was in pristine condition when we opened it up
  10. What fantastic news. Congratulations
  11. When we flew with dd's which was hooped we folded it gently in half then half again like a taco taking care not to press down so as not to damage the hoop. We then put it inside a plastic bag.. like the size you get for a pedal bin & then inside a bag & just brought it onto the plane as carry on luggage. I was worried about damaging the hoop too but the tutu maker reassured me that the hoop is more resilient than we imagine it to be
  12. Masters of Ballet is another one definitely worth looking at. My dd is 11 & recently done a week at it. I was very impressed at how much she progressed in the week & she is keen to do the 2 weeks at it next year.
  13. Love lily make gorgeous skirts. They have lots of different fabric & style options too. DD has quite a few of their skirts now & they are all beautifully made
  14. My dd is 11 & going week 3 as well
  15. My dd went last year & is going again this year. Last year was her first time staying over & she was nervous too as she didn't know anyone but said the house parents were lovely & made sure all of the kids were settled. DD shared with another girl who she is still in contact with along with quite a few others that she got to know. There were approximately 20 in each group but she felt that everyone got attention & were given personal corrections. She was in the youngest group last year & they done ballet with a bit of jazz & performed a ballet piece & a jazz piece at the parents showing of work on the last day. DD said it was a very friendly summer school & the teachers, staff & the other kids were all lovely & the food was good too.
  16. I always tie the elastics to suit & then double knot them & cut off the excess leaving just enough to tuck securely inside the shoe by not too much that it's uncomfortable. DD has never needed to readjust them as they are usually worn out before then. I usually unpick the elastics rather than cutting them off & then sew on the ribbons. DD has always found the ribbons are enough & has never needed to use any elastic with satin ballet shoes.
  17. That is a really inspiring story. Huge congratulations to your dd
  18. Personally my dd didn't but she did practice in the satin shoes with ribbons with her teacher in a few private lessons before the competition
  19. They don't need broken in as such but like legseleven my dd does like to wear hers a few times before competitions. DD doesn't put socks over them though as it's the sole that she likes to get a couple of uses as she says they feel better then & less slippy then. I'm imagining that it's probably more a case of the grip, for want of a better word, is more similar to what their normal shoes are.
  20. With the so danca shoes if you are buying online my dd has always ordered half a size up from her normal street shoe size & they have always been a perfect fit
