  1. I'd go for ENB's, myself, production-wise. It's very straightforward and handsome-looking, but then I am one of the many non-fans of the RB production And of course you might want to look at the quality of the Odette-Odiles you could get
  2. And to think I complain about a 30% markup at the Coliseum
  3. Anyone want to bet on the Friends suggesting you might like to upgrade your membership? (but then if lots of people did that it would be counterproductive, wouldn't it?!)
  4. Ah, but it allows Everybody to have his/her say, even if what they're saying isn't really worth repeating, let alone retweeting
  5. Quite. I assume that there must be some way for Friends to buy additional tickets later, because otherwise the companies, the RB especially, are going to lose an awful lot of ticket receipts. But there's no question of the general public not being able to buy tickets: a minimum of 20% of tickets are held back for public booking.
  6. Funny. If you'd asked me, I'd probably have said the same thing. Edit: Oops, missed John's reply first time around. I'm not sure I remember that cast: Cass and Nicky Roberts don't ring a bell. But then, that was pre-Ballet.co, when I hadn't really seriously got into the idea of seeing multiple casts, so perhaps it's not so surprising. (I do wish, looking at that archive, there was a way to see what parts of a triple bill were performed together, but it doesn't look as though that's the case)
  7. £10 off top two prices* Tue 28 Oct - Fri 31 Oct eves only Quote 'LIVINGDOLL' to book http://www.atgtickets.com/?utm_source=cheetah&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Solus-Oxford-ENB10 **Booking Fees: Online & Telephone £2.90 per ticket fee + £4; In person at the box office no fees apply. All sales including, but not limited to, tickets, promotions, discounts and concessions are subject to terms and conditions of sale and availability. Unless stated, offers cannot be used on premium seats, in conjunction with any other discount or applied retrospectively. Hmm, maybe the £7.00 booking fee is contributing to tickets not selling too well?
  8. I did, Bluebird, so thanks for saving me the effort. And the second-best cast I've seen was the alternative one: http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/performance.aspx?row=1&performance=2104&page=5 As I said, I think the above cast was scheduled precisely same 2 years later, but Cojocaru was injured and replaced by Marquez, McRae replaced Kobborg and Ludovic Ondiviela replaced McRae. As I said, you need to grab the cast when you can, because there's no guarantee it will ever be repeated.
  9. I think others will already have done so, capybara I'm not a Friend, so it doesn't affect me, but it does seem to me from what I've heard that they've gone from one extreme to the other. We'll have to ask Kevin O'Hare not to schedule 9 different casts in future Actually, can you imagine what hell that's going to make public booking? It's already busy enough, but if more Friends are going to be on there trying to make up the dozen or so peformances of Swan Lake they were unable to book for, it's going to be dreadful.
  10. I've said it before and I'll say it again: they should keep the relevant seats in the ROH off sale for all scheduled performances of Symphonic Variations, just in case they find the dream cast so they can film it. They weren't quick enough off the mark back in 2005, tried to schedule the same cast a couple of years later for filming and it was scuppered by injury. Should have grabbed the opportunity while they had it.

Yep, that's what they usually recommend. I mean, why should you work your backside off for a client who won't pay? (I hope you have others who will!) You don't happen to do something vaguely creative, do you? If so, you could try pointing out that copyright remains yours until you're paid (and if that's not in your T&Cs, it should be!)
  12. I think it's Protestant. By definition, it can't be Anglican, surely? Anyway, we're getting a bit off-track here ...
  13. I hate to point this out, Bruce, but the Gorbals are in Glasgow. The minister would therefore be Church of Scotland, or Presbyterian, or something, I think - quite a different kettle of fish.
  14. Thanks for that, Pulcinella. Perhaps someone will leave a copy on the train for me
  15. If you see anything that looks promising and want to send me a scan, I'll see if I can decipher it
  16. On the Odeon website, there was a special section for Manon encore screenings. I don't know about others. Did you try the old Time Out listing I posted probably in last year's cinema thread?
  17. CC, I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through: that's an awful lot to cope with, and it's no wonder you're feeling so awful. Don't forget the Samaritans, will you, if you need to offload verbally to someone? It can help a lot http://www.samaritans.org/ And I hope you're getting help with your own health problems. If not, please do speak to your GP or someone.
  18. I'd guess curtain down was about 10.25 tonight, so be warned. Some of the overrun might be due to the first-night party taking a long time to return to their seats, or it may have been due to the time taken to erect the set, I don't know.
  19. I gave the cinema a miss last night - apart from anything else, I had work to do - so didn't see this. Given that the cast wasn't one of my top three, I'm now wondering how those casts would have looked onscreen Petunia, I'm not sure whether Hayward was one of the deportees: I had assumed from hair and skin tone that it was her, but then I saw what I thought was the same dancer in the cast where she was dancing Manon, and she can't have been in two places at once!
  20. God forbid. Mine too, at least ballet-going ones. But then there was the last one of his in that run, and for that matter the third one in his first run ... And yes, my thoughts too were on upgrading Hayward to Mary Vetsera in due course.

Taxi, I know what you mean I had a German client last year who took 3 months to pay me ... 60 quid! Have you visited http://payontime.co.uk/? You're entitled to charge interest on anything not settled within 30 days. Fonty, taking a client to the Small Claims Court is actually very cheap, I gather. Not only that, but sending them a copy of the paperwork you're intending to file there has a marvellous effect of concentrating the brain, I'm told. OTOH, you run the risk of losing the client, but if they're not paying anyway that may not be such a loss.
