    Sim has a good point, because the start of season is always unpredictable: it's usually October, but unusually early this year. Also, the RB perform in rep with the Royal Opera, so there's no guarantee of what nights will be taken. I think the schedule usually comes out late March/early April, but one year I think it was late January or something weird. Welcome to the forum, BTW

    Actually, now I read the Evening Standard, I realise that it's only a limited number of lines anyway: the cross-London ones, rather than e.g. the District and Circle/Hammersmith & City etc.

    Another post from ambros1a, which I've copied over from the Paris Opera Ballet thread: "I don't know if there are many people on this forum from Ireland but Manon is live in HD in some cinemas (IMC, Lighthouse and Screen in Dublin; Carrick on Shannon and Letterkenny). The Manon performance is on May 18th and is the farewell performance of Aurélie Dupont. According to the Paris Opera website it will also be available from May 19th on Culturebox (online I think) There is also (to be confirmed) Nutcracker (recording) and Fêtez la Danse (which I think is a recording of the Défilé and Etudes from the livestream of October 4th) on December 18th.     Not to mention the one - I think it turned out to be their last with the RB - which was broadcast live to big screens across the country. It had a very large proportion of Trafalgar Square - my friend and me included - seriously in tears by the end! There is clearly a lot of anti-MacMillan feeling in the US, stoked in part over the years by various critics as well. This is one time when I really hope people don't let themselves be swayed by that. I suspect you'll have to resort to changing it for another performance of ... something or other. That woman has been so unlucky over the years. I wish her a speedy and full recovery.

    Sadly, only for those who don't have to rely on the railways. Some services, even local London ones, stop by 10.30 or so.

    If I watch it, I'm going to have to pay BT at least £6 for 24 hours' WiFi to get decent coverage, so I will probably watch as much as possible. For the last live stream, I had it running in the background, not realising just how much of my monthly allowance it was using up!     Thanks, Bluebird - have booked. It's ironic, isn't it, that I often look at these midweek matinees, think "Oh, that won't sell" and wait for the offers, then realise it's virtually sold out. Obviously not this time.

    Which is *really* ludicrous, when you come to think of it. It's only a few years since Osipova's Don Q's were one of the hottest tickets around. I didn't see Sarah and Rupert in that run, but did catch them earlier, in the summer. That was the one where Rupert made his debut on his birthday, I think? I seem to remember they were both extremely good, even though I wouldn't necessarily have thought it a particularly obvious role for Sarah. I'm just a little disappointed that, given that I haven't been able to book for every cast as it is, I'm going to get duplication.

    Perhaps, but since it would have cost me rather more than the ticket did to get up there and back, not to mention the loss of income (although I've actually lost quite a bit today anyway) that wasn't a viable option. Anyway, in the end I rang the box office. The first time it was engaged, but the second time I got through in about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the rest of the time I had to put up with having arias blasted at me - and they were on a loop which wasn't nearly long enough for the waiting time.

    First temporary password has finally come through after nearly an hour. Guess what: it doesn't work. It's probably been superseded by all the other ones I've requested, thinking that the request hadn't gone through. Pathetic.

    We give the Royal Opera House enough stick for its booking system on these pages, so it seems to me to be only fair to do the same for the London Coliseum when the occasion warrants. I've been at my computer for an hour and a half now, merely trying to book a ticket for Sweeney Todd, starring Bryn Terfel (I'm not actually concerned about casting: I just love Sweeney Todd). I got onto the site about half an hour before booking opened, intending to make sure I was logged in and everything to speed progress, and found myself already in the waiting-room, so I couldn't. Got in to book by about 10.10, and selected my performance. Then tried to log in. Found a note saying that if you hadn't logged in in the past year please send off for a password reminder - I presume this is since they started the new, ghastly website. So I did so, and guess what - an hour later I'm still waiting to be reminded of my password. So I tried to start a new account with another one of my email addresses: Internal System Error. So I'm stuck here wondering if I'm ever actually going to book myself a ticket or not before they all sell out. Very poor show.

    They don't usually put on so many performances of Manon, certainly - or at least not in one go. Last time around there were two different blocks, in two different seasons, and largely with different dancers in each.

    I've seen loads of professional orchestras re-adjust their chairs. I'm sure the musicians are likely to know better than the stagehands exactly where they should be positioned.

    Getting dizzy when bending down/standing up again is often associated with low blood pressure (which apparently is taken a lot more seriously in Germany than over her - but then *they* "don't have" M.E. over there). I'd say you definitely ought to get yourself checked out properly. Have you checked your medication online (British National Formulary, for example) to see whether it's appropriate for long-term administration?
