  1. Thank you for bumping this, sarahw: I'd completely forgotten that I'd started it! Yes, it was prompted by my hearing reports of what Alex Beard had said about the terrace being underused, which didn't seem to tally with my experiences when I'm out there, so I was curious and thought I might keep a tally. Unfortunately, I don't get to go very often, so if anyone else feels like contributing, please feel free!
  2. This made me think of the old "LiveJournal cut", a feature on LJ which allowed you effectively to "cut out" a piece of your text and, I think, hide it behind a link which you had to click on if you wanted to read more. Presumably blogging software has something similar?
  3. If the plans are on the wall opposite the ROH Shop, then what's happened to Black History Month? That *is* this month, isn't it?
  4. HAven't they got some just coming up? Or just past, or something?

    Scoliosis

Not to mention Alexandra Ansanelli and Wendy Whelan, as I was surprised to find out the other day. (What is it about NYCB???!!!)
  6. Didn't realise this hadn't posted this morning! I'd assumed from that interview, wherever it was, that he was working permanently for ENB? Angela, you're the native speaker of course, but are you sure that "rude" is actually the best translation of "rĂ¼de"? I'd have thought something like "abrasive" might have been nearer the mark.
  7. Not sure on that front, but he's danced with Zenaida before, hasn't he?
  8. Hmm, that's only 3 days' recovery time. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Has anyone seen their Nutcracker? If so, what did you think? Bromley's relatively easy for me to get to, so I might consider it.
  10. [At this point, the discussion deviated onto the ROH reconfiguration plans, so I've moved that to another thread here: http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/8141-roh-reconfiguration-plans/, as I thought it might be of interest.]
  11. Oh great . Is it going to be possible to get *any* fresh air any more without having to leave the building entirely?
  12. If it's reserved for disabled use only, then wouldn't it be operable by a RADAR key? I do think it depends very much on the situation: one of my local Sainsburys only has a disabled loo, so you have to use it or nothing. And for the ROH balcony ones you can normally spot if there's anyone using a wheelchair or crutches or whatever, which gives you an indication - there often isn't. (And what if a non-disabled person has an emergency of sorts? You wouldn't expect them to run up a couple of flights of stairs if, say, they were about to be sick.) And then of course there's the "invisible disability" business again - often the only ground-floor toilet in a restaurant is the disabled one, and if you can't manage stairs well you should of course use it, but giving way to any "properly" disabled person whose need is greater.
  13. Love it! I guess it must have been well past his bedtime
  14. I got my 20% discount - or are you saying there's nothing left on this current booking period that you wanted?
  15. Thanks, BBB. I wonder where these "bands" are, because they don't correlate with standard ROH pricing bands. That means if I risk buying one I may end up in a seat I can't sit in again.
  16. Very interesting, thank you, Terpsichore. But I would have to take issue with "A young woman throws herself in the river and is dragged out unconscious. A clergyman tries unsuccessfully to revive her. He covers her with a shroud and leaves her for dead. A stranger appears and revives her." Surely the whole point is that she is dead, and the stranger brings her back to life, otherwise where is the Miracle of the title?
  17. Mary, it wasn't remotely incompetent I just thought from previous experience that it might be easier to have all the broadcasts in the same thread, as certain subjects tend to crop up throughout the season - and not all the broadcasts attract as much comment as this one has.
  18. Certainly had in France sometime last century - as had the automatic lights-out feature. I swear the latter was designed on the basis of optimum time for men, not women! I initially thought it was someone outside playing a joke.
  19. Good points, Floss, although I'm not sure about the last one: I suspect that there was some other factor at work here. I rather think that reflects the difference in thinking between the current and the previous AD? Yes, Ashton is "so difficult" - although it must ultimately be rewarding when you conquer its challenges, I would think. I wonder if they were even offered it? Several of them had roles elsewhere, and it seems these days that management generally don't like to give them more than 1 role in a mixed bill.
