  1. I haven't heard (no pun intended) of Casey Herd: who is he? Yes, disappointing that there are obviously so many injuries. I thought that ENB used to have rather a good record on injuries.
  2. I don't think it's that new, John - I certainly remember seeing the Concert Master or whatever they were calling him at the time credited on cast sheets years ago, and I don't think it was always in cases where he'd had a major solo or anything.
  3. So, Dave, was this supposed to be the first cast? (I'm assuming because of the presence of Yanowsky). If that's the case, does it mean that Ed Watson's not back from his foot op yet?
  4. Just spotted that Center Stage is on Movie Mix this coming Wednesday, 10th December, at 11.40 pm-2 am. It features Ethan Stiefel and a lot of ballet, if I recall correctly. Movie Mix is channel 32 on Freeview.
  5. You're sure it was a wasp? I had a very nasty bite on *my* ankle over the summer sometime, and I still don't know what caused it, but it took a lot of antihistamines to get it down to more manageable proportions. Anyway, back to the matter at hand, and thank you for posting your reactions, Lin.
  6. Stunning photos. Everything looks really sharp against that deep blue background.
  7. Please stop. I'm feeling the need for a "Vomit" button in addition to the "Like" button!
  8. I was wondering if the baby had arrived yet. Congratulations to the proud parents. Edit: Thanks to JohnM, who'd posted this link elsewhere: https://twitter.com/_stevenmcrae/status/540816742030016512
  9. Thanks, Joan. Yes! Winter's Tale, as hoped. I'm not sure about Cuban Night, though - does anyone know precisely what it was? Did they record Carlos' show at the ROH this summer, or is it something else? The Christmas RT is out on Saturday, so I guess anything scheduled will be set in stone already. And I'd love the chance to see most of those Sky performances on terrestrial TV Not to mention the Ashton bill from a year or two back, which I always assumed would make it onto the BBC at some stage.
  10. Well done, Sheila - I'd completely forgotten that! And welcome to the forum, esamuel08!
  11. ... *have* seen it again, I think. My grammar brain has obviously switched off for the night.
  12. Yep, I was afraid it was only going to be Picturehouses again. Pity. I'd've liked to see it again
  13. We have discussed on here before the reasons why flower throws are now discouraged at the ROH - but I can't remember what they are! It used to be the case that spring debuts in a major role were greeted with a throw of daffodils, usually, I think it was, which must have been particularly messy, given their sap, but now you mention it, that hasn't happened for a while. Farewells for principals, yes: Tamara Rojo's last Marguerite & Armand (guesting with the company) a couple of years ago, and I think the previous three were all Mayerlings: Cojocaru/Kobborg, Galeazzi and Benjamin. But I think I'm right in saying (and I'm sure that someone who has the DVD can confirm) that the last Watson Mayerling of the run which was filmed in 2009, I think it was, also had a flower throw. Or was it Different Drummer? It was something unexpected, I know that.
  14. Nice . Although I do wonder why they picked actresses to do the promo: how many fluent Dutch-speakers do they have among their principals these days?
  15. Yep. As I said, it was quite difficult to stomach that way. Very disorientating, I thought.
  16. This sounds familiar. I also had problems with the website when trying to book Sweeney Todd a few months ago. Can't remember what it was now, but something major - I had to ring the box office in the end to get a ticket.
  17. Hi Frank. We had a funding drive I'd guess 15 months ago, and I assume we'll repeat it when it looks likely to be necessary again.
  18. Well, the only time I've seen Lady of the Camelias (is the title really in English?) was a few years back for the POB cinema relay (recorded). I found it rather indigestible, but suspect that was down to all 3 acts being run together, which I don't think helped its structure.
  19. Yes, I would have loved to have had another look at it. Does anyone know anything about who's showing La Bayadère next weekend, apart from Picturehouse? I could quite happily go to that, too.
  20. ENB went through a period, maybe a decade or so ago, of presenting the male leads with a bottle of - something or other. I'm not sure why they stopped it. But this is a company, I think, where bouquets are from management rather than from supporters.
