  1. I like the Cafe in the Crypt, except that the wifi never works in there any more Oh, and the chef has an intermittent obsession on putting courgettes in everything, which means that I can't eat anything.
  2. Well, 2 out of the 3 reviews I've seen so far haven't exactly been enthusiastic - about the bill as a whole, not necessarily Multiverse.
  3. So, as far as I can see, those who dislike Multiverse fall into 3 camps: i) those who dislike the music ii) those who dislike the choreography, and iii) those who dislike both. Is that a fair assessment? I must say that I came out of it with quite a headache myself, although am not sure whether it was totally caused by the work or whether it was already starting.
  4. More of those random thoughts which keep appearing at odd moments during the ballet: - what about the secondary group of officers, the ones who dive off the ship? What did they do during the original Act I when it was, I understand, set as a picnic in the countryside? Was there a lake? Is the "going for a swim" bit an addition? - I've only just realised that the dancer who plays Anna Vyrubova in Acts I and II then becomes the Matron in Act III. What, if anything, does it say that she "changes sides" while everyone else appears to stay the same? - I noticed from one of the old reviews which Lynette linked to, I think it was, that there was a mention of Anna's "silent scream" in Act III - yet all 3 ballerinas in this run were vocal in their screaming. Is that another change?
  5. Thanks, Aileen. I spotted it this morning just before I went out, but forgot to post about it.
  6. Wondering who'll be replacing Steven McRae in Chroma and Multiverse for the rest of the run?
  7. Thanks, Janet: I'd rather given up on Exmouth Market in recent months and used the café - or Cote up by Islington Green.
  8. That was the notorious "hanging chad" election, wasn't it?
  9. Personal votes, I guess you mean. I've been left the past few days wondering if the time differences across the USA actually tend to disadvantage the West Coast states, given that the whole election appeared to have been done and dusted before their votes were counted anyway.
  10. Even things way back as far as Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 have pointed in that direction. In a society where not a few people already vote as if an election was simply a televised popularity (or reverse-popularity) contest, that wouldn't surprise me.
  11. But on the other hand, others (and I don't mean the usual suspects) have said how much they enjoy working with him. So I guess it takes all sorts ...
  12. I don't suppose you have an account with Tesco Bank? Right now, that would be a very good excuse.
  13. That said, there are quite a few restaurants around St. Paul's, which should normally only be a short bus ride away from the ROH. (They're much less busy on a Saturday evening)
  14. I hadn't registered that it was the Lord Mayor's Show this weekend. Something to take into consideration if going e.g. to the ROH tomorrow.
  15. Unfortunately, I was unable to fit it into my schedule - shame there wasn't a performance on Wednesday
  16. I was thinking more of help and advice from mental health charities, Anna, but I suspect the end result would be similar.
  17. Benugo? Cote is fine provided you can get in, which is not always a given. I've been known to use other branches, then whiz down to Covent Garden on the tube.
  18. What will happen if she does suspect you've been ignoring her, Lisa? I think you probably need some expert/professional advice on this: I don't know what the mental health charities provide in the way of support on this, but you need to find a middle way which works for you, ideally while not excessively upsetting your sister.
  19. From an email received earlier today: "Akram Khan's Giselle returns in 2017 Returning to London by popular demand for six performances Following its sensational 2016 world premiere and UK tour, Akram Khan’s Giselle – a ‘beautiful and intelligent remaking” (New York Times) – returns to Sadler's Wells, 20 – 23 September 2017. The iconic story of love, betrayal and redemption has been given a haunting reinterpretation, with stunning costumes and set design by Academy Award winning designer Tim Yip (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), and stirring music by Vincenzo Lamagna adapted from the original Adolphe Adam score, performed live by English National Ballet Philharmonic."
  20. Glad to know it's only minor, although I wonder whether she might be better not risking it, given that she's got a heavy workload over the next week.
