  1. Looking back at my records, travelling from South London to Brighton for a conference a couple of years ago, it cost me about £25 for lateish rush-hour. I was shocked when I got down there to find the ticket machines selling tickets up to London for getting on for twice that.
  2. Interesting view of the production, courtesy of today's links: http://www.artsjournal.com/performancemonkey/2016/11/propwatch-the-lace-in-giselle.html
  3. Ah, I hadn't realised Nutcracker started so soon. That would explain it, then. Thanks.
  4. I've been nosing around the casting again, and notice that there are some updates as of 11th November. Also, some performances are only showing Clara, Sugar Plum and Prince (or whatever he's called in this production).
  5. I am surprised they didn't fit in a Sunday show or something, though, when they realised how much demand there was.
  6. Maybe they want to know what socioeconomic category you fall into for some reason?
  7. I must admit, I was surprised not to see a near-100% standing ovation in the Second Circle. Ones have been given for much less. I was under the impression that the evening was somehow under time pressure. Having been delayed for the not-uncommon reason of a restaurant being slow to deal with bills, I only arrived shortly before 7.30, reminding myself that I probably didn't need to hurry because this was Sadler's Wells and they never started on time, but they were more punctual than usual, the interval didn't seem as excessively stretched as is usual with first nights, and as you mention the curtain calls weren't over-generous.
  8. Yes, I think both are only scheduled in the Christmas/New Year performances, aren't they?
  9. The background to this, basically, is that I heard half-a-dozen people at Sadler's Wells tonight asking whether there was a DVD, or similar, so thought I'd test the water
  10. I don't know Miz en Bouche - how far down is it? (It's not the one which used to be an Italian restaurant with an open courtyard, I suppose?)
  11. Thought we might as well use the Poll feature for a change! I'm thinking probably the Rojo/Streeter/Corrales/Quagebeur cast, but open to alternatives. All views welcome, no included, so as to get an accurate idea of potential interest. You can add any comments below.
  12. As I was saying when I was so rudely interrupted - aka the train pulling out of the station before the incredibly sluggish broadband could respond and post my comments: Wow, just wow. (Can you tell that I'm virtually speechless? )
  13. Drat - I missed it. And I think London was totally covered by cloud last night
  14. I hadn't registered that Kaneko and Kish were scheduled to have been dancing together. I suppose it makes it easier to replace a pairing rather than to have to fit in extra rehearsals with someone else.
  15. Thanks, Lynette, but I think he said it for Invitus Invitam too. Possibly that's a common way of working for him, then.
  16. Strada in Great Queen Street (5 mins walk away) has a "£5 pizza Mondays" offer Actually, not to mention some sort of fixed-price 2/3-course menu (also valid on Saturdays)! Mind you, the local Café Rouges do the latter as well.
  17. IE 11 is happy to sign me out every now and then on the current laptop, even if I don't want to be!
  18. (Incidentally, I noticed that January performances of the RB's Nutcracker hadn't sold hugely well, either)

  20. I never *did* understand why it was so essential for repeats from a long time ago all to be on the same day (especially given that there was a RB repeat scheduled for that day) ...
