  1. We will be making trip to Southend when get these GCSE's out of the way.
  2. Hello- wondered if anyone has had direct , or indirect, experience of the Trinity level 6 Diploma conversion course offered by Middlesex University to gain BA (hons)...not sure how long this route has been available to those who have done the Trinity diploma but would be interesting to hear of experiences. Thinking ahead as always. Edited to make a bit more sense
  3. Just looked at website and seems they have all gone up. My dd's now 59.95. Ridiculous. Will look at Russian Pointe instead now.thanks for warning Kat.
  4. No way thats huge hike...is it all pointe or just some models?
  5. Is it the RAD associate school one that is cancelled?
  6. Oh dear, sorry to hear that joemill and debs. Wonder if anyone got an offer after the recall. I phoned and heard that they have had a higher take up on offers this year than previously so maybe less to go round than anticipated at this point. There could be movement yet though as things shake down.
  7. Hello all- did anyone go to the Rambert reserves recall audition on 30th or hear of anyone who has gone? Wondering if there is any movement on the offers as a result. My dd still on a waiting list - couldn't get to the recall.
  8. My dd got GM with hard shank, they were ok at the barre for short sessions and we briefly thought they were going to work out but I think she found them too weak in the shank for full ballet session and stopped using them. Vamp a bit low too.
  9. Try OPES summer school, in August.
  10. Hi littleballerina, she is 16, year 11 now,not been to opes before but looking forward to it ( when has anytime to think about anything ohter than gcse revision!)
  11. My dd also week2 OPES, so nice to have such straightforward application procedure after all the auditioning grief! One to look forward to.

Peanut68, I believe you can get a list from the School of homestay accom for Tring?
  13. If you think it would be good for her to continue with dance in the long term then I wouldn't push the practice, just let her find her own way with it.
  14. Not sure if its any use but there is a ready reckoner for Mds on the royal ballet school website.
  15. Sorry to hear this Regattah , what a worry.
  16. Congrats to those getting places. Is that lowe school as a matter of interest?
  17. Have you tried asking RAD if they can arrange suitable private lessons or maybe joining their Saturday classes? I have same same problem with my dd having very limited access to Advanced 2 lessons so will be trying to to get something sorted for as soon as GCSE exams end.
  18. elizabethlahav- I can't answer your question too many unknowns and variables! However my dd has been offered a Dada at Tring but we have not completed the full dada income assessment yet - I think we get sent the forms for this in late April. I would guess that once these assessments have been done there could be a little bit of shuffling of the reserve lists as there will be more clarity on the level commitments from the Dada pot.
  19. Thanks Kat09 , do many of them deshank their dead pointe shoes or do they buy soft block? Soft blocks very expensive for what they are but my dd's deshanked pointeshoes look a bit clown-like...which is fine if everyone in the same boat!
  20. Thanks for warnings on pointe shoe wear. What about ordinary flat ballet shoes, I guess most use fabric split sole type things? Do they need to bother with soft blocks at post 16 schools? How many flat shoes , roughly, do your think dd's get though in a term, and any suggestons for most hard wearing?
  21. I am also trying to get to grips with the detailed finances now and it is interesting how the calculations and financial implications vary according to own circumstances and funding scheme. Eg MDS seems to be gross income, Dada household income and student loans household income but different tax year to dada - all with different sliding scales.
  22. He is sure to have a great time Gollyrox as Elmhurst SS is a very supportive and safe environment for them to enjoy and progress in dance. Nothing to worry about other than them getting more of the ballet bug!
  23. Thanks all for your comments, support and pm's along the audition-road, it has been, and continues to be, very much appreciated.
  24. Thanks yes it does seem to be about getting the right fit but also I think my dd is a step behind her peers which is reflected in the outcomes so far, good set of finals, set of no's, set of reserves. She has funded offer at Tring which is fantastic though and I hope will give her the platform to catch up!
  25. 'No' here too. I do look forward though to seeing the successful dancers in Ballet Central in three years time!
