  1. Yes definitely get some physio advice, my dd have been plagued with recurrent ankle tendonitis that we probably should have responded to sooner. Also wish I had sorted out health insurance before she started to get the ankle pain as physio costs are stacking up! nHS referral would have taken weeks. I can suggest dance physio in the cambridge area if thats any use.
  2. Sue. m is your dd in the FB group for new starters yet that balletbunhead mentioned in earlier post? If not and she wants to be PM me and I will give my dd a nudge to add her.
  3. I've been told by a couple of current students/parents that you don't need to get the uniform from the specified supplier so I am planning to get as good as match as can from M&S or whatever for my dd. I get the impression they don't wear the school uniform much in sixth form.
  4. Hi NLc, may be interested in the unitard for my dd. are they one size?
  5. You could try stuffing the toe with newspaper when worn to get better shape as they dry.
  6. Have sent you a quick PM Balletbunhead
  7. Hi, yes, she is boarding, gives me one less thing to worry about.
  8. Hi balletbunhead. My dd is starting at Tring dance course in Sept and has been added to the group...amazing how connected everyone is- whoever started it - thank you its very helpful. Good to be able to finally look forward to Sept after the trials of auditions, offers, rejections, exams, injury... Congrats on your Dada funding. We went to see the Senior Show recently and were very impressed by the range and quality of the dancing.
  9. London Senior Ballet, sundays at Arts Ed Chiswick goes up to 18 and normally holds an audition in Sept. The graduate class is adv 1/2 standard I reckon though non syllabus.

May be worth looking of the Not a pushy mum forum as there is a lot of discussion about singing/acting stuff on there in the Training section.
  11. What is the location for the classes? Sorry can't see the details on the website , must be looking with eyes shut!
  12. Sorry to hear you are still waiting to hear Joemill. We have not heard anything from Rambert though we followed up on the waiting list about a month ago and they recommended we take other offers if have them as there are so few people turning down their Rambert offers. Hope there is still scope for something to work out for your dc.
  13. Porselli have some Suffolks online and I believe you can go there for fittings as it was recommended to me by the suffolk shop when they were unable to do fittings - but its in Norwich.
  14. Yes you're probably right nana lily, but I guess I thought the movement on the reserves of more general interest, as you say lots of people waiting. Sorry if mine is a frustrating post probably not particularly helpful.
  15. Next comp in 2017 according to BBC young dancer facebook page. Do hope girls are present across all heats next time.
  16. Will pm joemill, bit cryptic as never know whose listening so to speak!
  17. I do find it odd that so few girls were in the tv part of the competition. Wonder whether less girls applied in the first place.
  18. My dd has now been offered one of her reserve places so reshuffling of places must be chugging through the system.
  19. Perhaps if they run the competition again they should have male and female categories. Seem to remember the last ybdy was all/ mostly male winners too.
  20. All great talented dancers. Am I right in thinking that no girls other than South Asian category, where only girls competed, have gone through to finals?
  21. Ah thats interesting Guesty. I had come across Chysalis via the Tring site but hadn't clocked that it helps to serve that purpose.
  22. Congratulations for the yeses and for the benefit of any 'no's' out there my dd didn't get into Tring CBA when she applied in about Year 8 or 9 but did get offer of funded place at Upper School so never say never!
  23. Yes Pas de Quatre, good question, I think from what I read in the middelsex info that the conversion is considered as part time / distance ed and over two years so the possible one year of Student Finance left to Diploma students maybe would stretch...not sure though so will look further.
  24. Sugarplumsmum- Tring I believe offers the Level 6- I dont think there is a Level 7 Trinity Diploma? Thanks also Kat and Pas De Q That is helpful info 2dancersmum and is consistent with the impression I had from the web info. The fees are currently reasonable too so seems like a good option if wanting to stay in the dance profession but secure the BA hons after Trinity Diploma. I noticed that Ballet West also offer to take people with Diploma to complete to BA hons- not as convenient to do at same time as looking for work on graduation though!
  25. Most of the Bloch models appear to still be onsale at other online stores at the 'old' price but I guess will increase at some point. Unfortunately the ones suitable for my dd only available direct from Bloch.
