LinMM
Me too! It must be a pretty serious injury if he’s out for the whole season which happened not so long ago as well. I’ve missed him this year so let’s hope next season goes well.

FionaM
I hope someone with rehabilitation qualifications is helping Cesar to re-hab and re-train carefully and correctly as this has now been two lengthy injury time-outs since joining RB. Fingers crossed. C
LinMM
Well it does look as if the RB does have very good medical provision for injuries etc. well looking at what Stephen McRae has posted in last couple of years but on the other hand have no real idea whether he had to sort out himself or the RB helped him etc. But I’m sure all the dancers must talk to each other about how to deal with injuries and who best to go to see and so on.

Fingers crossed. C Unlike Steven, Cesar chooses to keep any injury problems he has to himself. But, given the amount of staff time and effort invested in Steven (and documented by him in detail on IG), it does indeed appear that the RB is well-placed to provide the appropriate help, supplemented, as necessary, by other specialists.

Sophoife
Ruka Akri is half-Japanese so is probably used to being called that 😂 but I had a good laugh at Rural Event. I must say, it's highly intriguing that back in November Alex Campbell was down to dance Romeo, then he was replaced by Cesar Corrales, now due to Corrales' ongoing injury issues Alex is back!
Ondine
Rural Event is very funny! The Marriage of Leeds How Fille translates as that I will never understand! (I'm assuming it's Fille, music: Ferdinand Errol = Ferdinand Hérold) And Lucas B. Brentzrod. Is he new to the company? 😁 Edited June 10, 2023 by Ondine

Naomi M
Himeji is indeed a rural town, quite far from Tokyo although they have a magnificent castle which is a world heritage. This gala performance is the venue’s first Royal Ballet performance and has sold out quickly. We Tokyo residents are also envious of this program as what we have is Diamonds, For Four, Prima and Month in the Country.
LinMM
Ooo I don’t know there’s all sorts going on up on them Yorkshire Moors! ( to be said with heavy Yorkshire accent) I have to say I always have to double check the spelling of Lukas name when mentioning him! This is a great programme with lots of younger dancers getting opportunities to show their talents Edited June 10, 2023 by LinMM
bridiem
Given that all this will have been rehearsed/prepared, WHY can we not see such a gala programme in London?! Maybe the promoters of the Japan tour require something unique to them, but couldn't we have had a variation on the theme?

Well, there were questions on here earlier as to why Joe Sissens was rehearsing Romeo and the guess was for a Gala (in the first instance, at least). Agree that Isabella G would be a fabulous Juliet. Lukas B could be dancing Prince Gremin in Japan but, especially after his star characterisation as a Suitor in Cinderella, anything (including Onegin) would appear possible down the line. 2

Ondine
Is that just about everyone in the company with Japanese heritage being given a gala slot? It's going to be quite a night! What a treat! I wonder why some are 'starring' and not others? 🤨 Lovely that Viola Pantuso and Daichi Igarashi are being given the opportunity to perform the pas de deux from "Diana and Acteon". They did this for the Erik Bruhn prize and Daichi won Best Male Dancer. They were terrific, it's a pity the performance (streamed live) video was removed from the competition website after about 12 hours. Enough time presumbly for the dancers and relatives and friends to catch it. I watched it several times. Delightful. I hope they bring the house down! Both still so young.

Hopefully if anyone on here is going then they can report on which one was danced.
OnePigeon
I saw Lukas Braensrod as Reece Clarke’s replacement in the role of Bay Middleton in Mayerling back in November. He really stood out to me and had a great handsome stage presence. He definitely brought some fun to the Wellington role in Cinderella too - I think he’s one to watch. Lucky, lucky Japan!
Naomi M
By the way Mariko Sasaki and Lukas Braensrod will be dancing in a full length Nutcracker outdoors in Japan this July, in a mountain resort called Kiyosato. This is a performance with beautiful nature backdrop accompanied with fireworks and the company Ballet Chambre Ouest is where Mariko studied ballet, her home company in Japan. https://www.fieldballet.com/ Lukas’s message https://www.fieldballet.com/news/佐々木万璃子さんパートナー〉英国ロイヤルバレ/ 8

Sadly not even Laura Morera's final performance could tempt me to the ROH this summer. I've thought for a while it would be a good idea for the RB to do an annual gala as a fund raiser if they could manage it. One being given on tour and already prepared and rehearsed would have been ideal. If only it could be filmed.
