  1. There are six west end theatres with the same or fewer seats and they do pretty well (one of them is home to the Mousetrap!). It's also significantly larger that the ROH's Linbury theatre, more than 2.5 times the size of SW's Lilian Baylis Theatre and 20% larger than the Theatre Royal Stratford East (which is a beautiful theatre that Ballet Black use). I'd say it's just the right size for its intended use.
  2. I stayed in the Doubletree in Granary Wharf last weekend and thought it was an excellent hotel.
  3. Not guesting but there were, of course, dancers from BRB along with RB, Northern, Scottish and ENB in Elite Syncopations during the 2017 MacMillan celebrations at the ROH.
  4. Glad to hear you enjoyed and are looking forward to a London performance!
  5. Also in the current Paris production (as noted in the FT review), Rudolf's beard falls off, the guns misfire and there are issues with tiaras. Minor mistakes and production issues can happen everywhere.
  6. Unfortunately, I watched this programme at the Linbury yesterday evening and it was the first time (I think) that I have left a performance by a ballet company thinking that I wished I'd gone to the football instead; mostly due to being brow-beaten by the music. All the pieces were too long for their concept and content. November's piece had inventive collaboration between the individual characters but the ensemble work didn't really do it for me. Quagebeur's piece started promisingly and about half-way through I thought it was going places but it became overly repetitive and lost inside its own concept. A shame as I often enjoy this choreographer's work. Finally, the 40-odd minute piece by Mbi. Some short bits of choreographic and design invention (I particularly liked the inteeaction with the shadow on the diagonal window) but, on the whole, too much filler for me. I'd sure others will enjoy this programme but it wasn't for me (unfortunately, as I was very much looking forward to it).
  7. I have SCS D26 available for this show. Face value is £12, please PM if interested.
  8. I was wondering whether it might just have been sent to those who have booked a ticket for Mayerling that evening.
  9. In the UK, copyright continues for 70 years after the death of the relevant creator. Ashton died in 1988 and Lanchbery in 2003 so quite a while to go for Fille!
  10. This ticket has been returned to the box office (and already resold, from the looks of it!).
  11. Which ballet are you interested in? If it's one owned by Anthony Russell-Roberts, you can get his contact details here.
  12. I have balcony D33 (the most central standing place on that level) available. Face value is £9, please PM if interested.
  13. Completely agree! Last week, my next event was at the end of the list of 63 events!
  14. A reminder that Helpmann added an N to the end of his name because Robert Helpman contains 13 letters.
  15. The dramatis personae of the ballet refers to these characters as Cinderella's Step-Sisters.
  16. I'm having no such problems (Chrome on ipad or iphone). Also no issues with the ability to delete the donation.
  17. On the day that booking opened for the Lion King, I wanted to check something on the Hippodrome website. I was around 8,700 in the queue at around 10 am that day and still hadn't reached the front of the queue when I left the office around 6 pm. Luckily I got through to the box office on the 'phone after about 25 minutes and the friendly, helpful and efficient staff sorted me out.
  18. Shame that we had to miss this bill in Birmingham due to the Avanti strikes but we’ll see it at the Wells.
  19. Nowhere near that. Even if you have the cote de boeuf (between two) it’s about a quarter of that.
  20. I think it’s worth a reminder that MacMillan used a dramaturg, Gillian Freeman, to create the scenario for his ballet.
