    Likewise! I was fortunate enough to be at this performance (I thought at the time that my "Bravos" were quite loud, but could not hear them on the recording, perhaps because I was near the front of the stalls), and was thrilled to be able to revisit it. A huge "DANKE" to Stuttgart for making it available, and to Angela for pointing it out.

    The Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), the Los Angeles Music Center, and McCaw Hall (Seattle, where Pacific Northwest Ballet performs) have all canceled performances and are closing.

    Theatre closures now extend to North America. The War Memorial Auditorium, where San Francisco Ballet performs, has been closed as of today through March 20 by order of the Mayor of San Francisco, cutting very short (I.e., to exactly ONE performance—last night’s) SFB’s run of Balanchine’s Midsummer Night’s Dream.

    FYI, they are scheduled to dance Onegin with La Scala in California this summer.

    I was unable to attend that New York gala, but I believe that she and Friedemann danced only excerpts from M&A that evening. They danced the entire work (wonderfully) with Sarasota Ballet in New York in the 2016 Fall for Dance festival. They also danced the MacMillan Romeo & Juliet on tour with La Scala Ballet in Tokyo in 2013, IIRC. I agree wholeheatedly with your assessment of their partnership.

    I am traveling and don’t have my notes with me, but I believe I saw Storm-Jensen do Lilac once in the last run and 4 or 5 times this season, and each time, her variation was far from well -executed. Lilac Fairy requires more than a statuesque build and a pretty face. In a company with the depth of talent the RB currently possesses, I find it incomprehensible that a dancer who cannot execute the choreography is continually cast in the role.

    And, unfortunately, Sunday’s performance of Raymonda has Indeed been canceled. So sorry for Muntagirov and all the disappointed ticket holders.

    Yes, Muntagirov is scheduled for the 22nd. BUT it looks extremely unlikely: the current version of the rolling warning of possible cancellations issued by the Opera runs through that date, and they’ve stopped selling tickets for the performance. I had originally booked for 6 & 19 December, but when I read about the forthcoming “unlimited” strike to begin on 5 December, I switched my first ticket from the 6th to the 3rd, and am very glad to have done so! I feel very lucky to have been able to see that performance.

    IIRC, she was scheduled to dance it, but was injured or ill and did not. (I remember sitting through a performance feeling very disappointed.)

I don't believe Friedemann Vogel was ever listed for the London gala; the list in my earlier post is from the FB page of Daniele Cipriani, the producer of the Etoiles gala in ROME.     I saw nearly the original NYCB cast of DAAG (everyone except for Jonathan Prinz) several times, and then over the years with some additional changes but several of the core dancers remaining, and always loved it. As I did some subsequent performances with wonders like the young Gelsey Kirkland. And I saw nearly the original RB cast (everyone except, I think, for Jonathan Kelly), and time stood still. What a glorious performance! If I could magically go back in time and see again only five of the thousands of performances I've seen, that would be one of them. So I greatly anticipated the RB's revival, but I found the two performances I saw in the first cycle disappointing and flat. (To be fair, I've seen many other DAAG performances by other companies, including NYCB, in the last two decades or so that featured individual performances of brilliance, but were in their entirety unsatisfying.) I had been planning to skip the Marston/Scarlett program. There are a number of RB dancers, though, that I'd love to see in DAAG, and I suspect many of them will be cast, although not necessarily in the roles I would choose for them. (Casting may well be subject to the wishes of the Robbins Trust stagers.) So I think I will wait until casting is announced, and then if scheduling works and decent tickets are available, give it another chance.

    I travel independently to Moscow several times a year, and do not find it difficult. My Russian speaking is quite limited, but I do read Cyrillic. The Bolshoi Theatre puts tickets on sale roughly 3 months before the performance. Under the system initiated last season to solve the scalping problem, buyers purchasing during the first two weeks the performance is on sale are required to submit passport details, and a certificate, rather than the ticket itself, is issued, which must then be exchanged by the purchaser, who is asked to present passport and credit card, at one of the theatre's box offices, for the ticket. It's an extra step, but not very cumbersome.

    DQF, if I recall correctly, the Esmeralda performed by the Staatsballett Berlin was an abridged, 2-act version of the Bolshoi's 3-act version. Both productions were the work of Yuri Burlaka and Vasily Medvedev. Esmeralda has been out of the Bolshoi rep since Burlaka's tenure, and I fear that it will not be performed there again in my lifetime.
