I know of different children who got a no at mds final at Tring but went on to get places at Elmhurst and White Lodge... One boy went to Elmhurst who wasn't recalled to the funding final. As for the waiting list, my oldest dd got her funding off the waiting list about 3 weeks after the audition. It does happen!

Good luck all. I remember only too well what it's like having been there a few times!

Good luck everyone and for Mds finals on Thursday.

Yes he is especially gifted. I remember he won awards when in a competition against cheetahs students, beating them all.

Anyone had news from ENBS yet?
-
Two years ago my daughter said the same thing... That they barely looked at her and that they had clearly made up their mind at the start that she was not right for them. Happily, ENBS did see something suitable for them. It is obvious that all the schools may vary in what they like... But as all have paid the same audition fee, they should feel they were watched.

I was shocked that a third of year 9 was assessed out of wl last year. A lot of heartache
-
To be honest I have never really worked out how it is done but they add fees together at tring and divide by number of dancers... Minus sibling discount. I don't think it is as much as half for subsequents tho'

We moved to tring when my fourth dancing child got an mds place at Tring. Made it easier to move from hants to herts to have them as day pupils rather than boarders ! Getting to love the canals but miss the sea

Could some kind moderator change my Coppelis to Coppelia?must clean my specs!

I thought anyone with little ones who have never been to the ballet might be interested in this. http://www.ballet.org.uk/whats-on/my-first-ballet-coppelia/ Last year I saw hundreds of little ones coming out of Aylesbury theatre having had a ball at a My First .

After 7 years full time training... Mostly in dance... It is time for him to get out there in the big wide world and find a job. Could be exciting times ahead
-
Sadly, it was not the news he was hoping for:) Never mind... Who knows what other opportunities lie around the corner and, on the upside, at least he won't be over £30000 in debt
-
Oh no! He thinks the letter will be here today. Am so nervous for him!
-
The mds is awarded for classical dance potential so it doesn't matter about the drama or singing. People get in without doing it.? The school finds it useful if they see someone they think might be better suited to theatre arts rather than dance.

My ds had his arts ed audition on Tuesday. I hope the results will be here soon as he is anxious. It is definitely where he wants to go but will they want him? I hate the waiting.

I would contact the school if there is a problem with the solo as I believe they can tell a lot about a student even before the solo. I certainly wouldn't not go. Also... Is there an old exam solo she could use?

I have been so interested in everyone's applications and progress through auditions that I quite forgot that it is my eldest son's Arts Ed audition next Tuesday!! If he doesn't get a place, it's time to find a job for him so fingers crossed everyone!!

Dancinggirl24 While it is true that those students offered continuation of mds into 6th form receive a letter saying that, given the level of funding offered , the school would find it strange for students to audition elsewhere and they are invited to discuss it with the staff. They are not manacled to the school but , especially since the change to dada, an mds place can be very beneficial to families. I know from personal experience that even where mds continuation is offered, the school will support application elsewhere if they believe it to be in the best interests of the student. This funding is separate to the dada funding for 6th form.
