  1. Well done to your daughter's friend. Wow... A long way to come for a final.
  2. Well done to your daughter's friend. Wow... A long way to come for a final.
  3. I hate to say it, but I think it was towards the end of the month! Such a long wait...
  4. First round for lower school all done.... Good luck to all waiting. Postmen up and down the country beware!
  5. What year was he auditioning for dancincingmum2002
  6. Someone else I heard asked and was told mid Feb. the last prelims are at the end of Jan so that makes sense. A long time to wait for everyone!
  7. It's horrid waiting on the letters, isn't i? Especially when the kids keep asking if the letter has arrived yet!
  8. When my four auditioned for Tring the letters took about 10 days after the audition to come.
  9. Good luck to all auditioning for Tring this year x
  10. If I understand correctly your daughter has been doing professional performances at ROH not youth ballet companies I haven't been through this before but I know others on the forum have experience of important year 9 appraisals and they will be able to tell of their experiences I'm sure. All the very best to your dd and to the family over the coming weeks. It is a stressful time for everyone. Let's hope for a positive outcome xx
  11. Our go completed the Elmhurst form for both of ours and then I photocopied it for little one' Tring audition.
  12. We had two children auditioning last year and needed medical forms for both our lovely go saw us in his private patient time and did not charge... Said it was his contribution to the arts. If mine ever get jobs, they owe him a company ticket! I thought it was very kind of him as he knows we struggle. X
  13. Happy New year to one and all
  14. I was watching that night too.... Dress circle was packed out too. I loved Daria and Vadim. She looks younger and more radiant than she did when the show opened two years ago....how is that possible? And he is a delight going from strength to strength and radiating a love of his art. Despite the cast changes I feel there is a high energy level in the company, even as they near the end of a long nutcracker run. I look forward to new things in the future under the new director but hope she continues to reach out to new audiences as enb has done recently in joint ventures with Flawless. I also thought young Freddie was particularly good.... But I could be accused of being a tad biased.
  15. I will pass that on to the children today. My 2 are loving it again and son wAs excited to get to hold Tamara's hand at the end. The company ( not the school) selects the children. The audition in sept and the children rehearse in school before joining the company in rehearsal at jay mews. The dancers for this production are of different heights and range from year 5 to year 10.. In this production Clara is burgeoning into womanhood with a yearning for the handsome nephew so it was choreographed on year 10 girls although it has been danced by younger.
  16. The children do about 21 performances each...which is enough, although my ds and dd would happily have done all 40. We have just started....19 left to do! They all take part in the singing...boys too...unless they are tone deaf! This is our 6th Christmas in a row with Nutcracker and every year I say it will be the last but the children have gained so much from the experience. I think this could be our last year tho' as my lad will be too tall next year to be Freddie//Fritz and it might be pleasant to have a whole Christmas at home. I'm sure my littlest dd will have something to say about that as she will be wanting to enjoy it all again next year. Never say never! My older dd made good friends during her time dancing with the company...such a lovely bunch of people. I think it is something they will remember for the rest of their lives. Last year I sobbed buckets watching my 2 lead the curtain call with the principals....now that's something I'm not likely to enjoy again. Special memories. Lucky children!
  17. Hi there ... You can find it in its entirety on YouTube.
  18. I wrote to question the department if there would be any overlap for families with some children on Thank you for your email about changes to the Dance and Drama Award (DaDA) scheme from September 2013. I am replying as a member of the policy team responsible for financial support for 16-19 year olds including DaDAs. As you are aware, a limited number of scholarships in the form of DaDAs, are available to help the most talented students attend specialist courses at private dance and drama schools. Awards are made to students on the basis of an assessment of talent, and potential to succeed in the profession. From September 2013, DaDAs will continue to support individuals who show the most talent and potential to succeed at audition, as decided by the school. The amount of support for fees and maintenance students receive under the revised arrangements will be based on an assessment of their gross family income. The income assessment will be undertaken by the appropriate DaDA school, using national scales which will be made available publicly. The number of DaDA awards available will however remain limited. As your children were offered DaDAs under the existing scheme arrangements they will continue to be supported under these arrangements until the end of their DaDA supported training. Only new starters from September 2013 will come under revised arrangements. The introduction of means testing is not intended to reduce costs, and we expect the total number of DaDA awards made to remain about the same. However a fully means tested scheme will result in students from lower income households receiving more support than they currently do, and students from higher income households contributing more to their overall costs. Your email questions whether the revised DaDA arrangements will overlap with the support that is available from MDS. MDS and DaDA are two very different schemes. MDS supports a large number of pupils from 8 years of age at a range of schools - covering academic education as well as vocational studies. DaDA on the other hand is a much smaller scheme supporting post 16 students at private schools with vocational study leading to one of a small number of specific qualifications. Both schemes have limited and fixed budgets. It would not be affordable or practical to offer further support through DaDA because a family had already been means tested for MDS support. It is obviously a matter of individual choice as to whether your children choose to study at a private institution and beyond the support offered through DaDA there is no further public funding available for additional support. We appreciate that families with several children face greater costs in educating them and considered this in looking at how DaDA should operate. But other families may also have dependent family they are struggling to support such as elderly relatives, or they may have other specific financial constraints. Therefore given our intention to support as many young people as possible, the limited and fixed DaDA budget available, and the need to be fair to all families, we will not be allowing extra support for siblings. Thank you for writing to us about this important matter. Yours sincerely, Looks like they expect the same family income to max out for multiple children. Not looking very hopeful for my guys ! Susan Baranovich Participation Division and some on the new means tested dada as the MDS already stretches the budget to what a family could afford and would that contribution be calculated in when adjusting fgures for dada. This is the reply:
  19. They were picked cos they turn well, bless. It was lovely to see ur dd. every time I saw her she was smiling my little loved it as she is desperate to board. This is the closest she'll get.
  20. My little dd just returned from a fab weekend. They saw Enb Nutcracker Fri night, had a ballet class and rehearsal for show yesterday and today and a Xmas party and games last night. The show today was fab... The 64 children involved ( 3 groups) put on 5 dances: flowers, mirlitons, Chinese, Russian and snowflakes. They did an amazing job! A good time had by all .
  21. My little dd had a ball at this today ... Well done to hdt who made her so interested in contemporary dance. Much fun had!
  22. Can confirm dancers get good roles. My son was a Marius in les mis a couple of years ago. Has now moved onto MT.
  23. Sorry to hear the disappointing news....but Kat09 is right...it's a 'no'for now,not a 'no' forever. My older dd had a number of 'no's along the way but has had some successes too. The 'no's make the yesses that much sweeter There will be something else just around the corner. The most important thing is not to lose heart and to remember that these classes are a bonus. Our children's joy of dancing will be there without them. Good luck x
  24. They insist on darned shoes at ENBS . We had 3 pairs to get ready at once. Sore fingers!
