  1. He was in a pas de quatre I think... But I couldn't get tickets as they had all gone when I tried to get one have booked my Holland Park ones for this year and will get the opera house one when paid. We'll be seeing a lot more of him from August on as he has accepted job with the company.
  2. There are some fab uk dancers who are not allowed to compete. I am sure that young Joseph Sissens, who is in the 3rd year at Upper School, would have given them all more than a run for their money. students there are not allowed to compete. not a problem for young Joe as he already has had a few offers of contracts
  3. Was just thinking that at least those dcs at RBS today won't have long to wait. Last year the results came on the Friday following the preliminary audition. Hope it went well for everyone today
  4. Good luck and don't be put off by the mega stretching going on everywhere
  5. Dancing 10 glad you finally got the good news you were waiting for. When are finals?
  6. There would be someone there to rake a message this morning as associates and upper school classes on on a Saturday. Good luck
  7. At Tring they looked for scoliosis and checked rotation in the hips. I seem to recall there was a proprioception test. It was a thorough examination and parent present for it whereas I don't recall being at Elmhurst one...but it was a while ago!
  8. When mine did those there was a simple ballet class for each lasting about an hour. Everyone at Elmhurst saw the physio. At Tring a few docs wer asked to see physio after the class and then docs were free to go. Results came quickly too
  9. We are all waiting on your news fingers crossed that you hear today.
  10. Thank you to everyone sharing good news and less good news. It is so easy to be swept along by the excitement of auditions and recalls but it's so important that everyone realises that there are more nos than yesses and that it doesn't necessarily mean anything for long term prospects. It is so good that we have this forum to help support each other on this mad journey. I doff my cap to all the children brave enough to put themselves out there...I would never have been that brave at 10/11. Learning to pick yourself up and dust yourself down is a hard but valuable lesson to learn that many adults find difficult. May they all keep dancing happily wherever they end up dancing
  11. My son was offered a place last year and he was at voc school so don't think that is the case....and a girl from his school the same .
  12. I think it is absolutely right that children and their parents should choose the school that is right for them I knew from the first moment I saw Tring that I wanted my dc to train there...there was a magical feel to the school. Also the ballet training there is very good; let's not forget that 3 children from Tring were selected for RBS Upper school last year...which suggests that the ballet training is of a very high standard so definitely worth not discounting
  13. Well done to you did for the first Royal invite to finals. I am sure you will have an enjoyable and memorable day. Well done to everyone's Dec going through the audition mill at the moment. Such bravery at a young age!
  14. When my dad did it we watched classes, had a Q and A and I think the physio was that day too. That year another upper school had its final that day so not everyone could attend tho it was advise able. That was 4 years ago tho.... May have changed.
  15. My first dd had done grade 5 RAD - no vocational exams and only a little pointe work when she was accepted with funding. My second dd had done grade 4 ISTD- no vocational exams and no pointe work when she was accepted with funding. My first ds had done grade 4 RAD-no vocational exams when he was accepted with funding and my second ds had only done grade 2 ISTD when he got his funding offer. I wouldn't worry too much about the level. I think they are really looking for potential and that level is not that important. I seem to remember Mary Goodhew writing theat she had once accepted a complete novice at ballet into WL .
  16. It is my understanding that the Head of Dance takes time to interview/speak to each of the dancers individually. That doesn't happen everywhere
  17. I am so sorry to learn of this. She was a lovely woman .
  18. It was exactly around now that my son began to hAve the colley wobbles about dance. He didn't do GCSEs dance but the pressures of GCSEs generally and a long term injury really brought him to the point of giving up dance. The dark nights and dark mornings don't help. A year on he has moved school so the routine is all different and he is enjoying dancing again. It was a bleak time for him so I hope you find a solution to make you happy... The most important thing.
  19. Yes Tring got outstanding all round too for post sixteen in inspection a few weeks ago.
  20. The lovely Joe Sissens has been offered a contract at Royal , still aged 17....
  21. There is principal male at Royal Danish too who trained exclusively at Tring
