  1. Prices are slightly lower for Romeo and Juliet matinées. The top price is reduced by £17 (£110 instead of £127). The bottom price is only reduced by £1 (£5 instead of £6) i.e. the lower the evening price, the lower the reduction. Edited to correct typo
  2. "In an interview that Osipova gave to Euronews last month, she said that she wanted to get away from classical roles and concentrate on the kind of roles that she felt suited her better. hope it's OK to quote the relevant section: “Over the last ten years I have danced a variety of roles. Now, I want to focus on the things for which I have a special talent – psychological and dramatic roles or contemporary dance for which it seems to me I have a great ability. Right now, there are many interesting choreographers and there are so many things happening around and for me I really want to try it all and I think that I will gradually retreat further from classics,” she opined." http://www.euronews....lle-mal-gardee/ (with thanks to Dansomanie for finding the interview) Edited to provide the link to the English version. Apologies for originally posting the link to the French version. I only just realised that, since Euronews is a multilingual channel, there must also be an English version!
  3. Yet more award nominations for Wheeldon, Cope and Fairchild: http://www.theatermania.com/broadway/news/2015-astaire-award-nominations-announced_72779.html Edited to add that the nominations are for the 2015 Fred and Adele Astaire Awards. Jill Paice was also nominated for her role in American in Paris.
  4. . Luca Acri, Marcelino Sambé and David Yudes. I think that's all but I'm happy to be corrected if there were more.
  5. Just noticed an announcement on the ROH website: "A note from Kevin O'Hare on ballet casting for Autumn Season (updated 29/04/15) Some patrons have asked about casting details for Autumn Season. As it becomes increasingly difficult to create accurate detailed information so far in advance of the published performances I feel that it is preferable to delay announcing casting in order to try and minimize the likelihood of changes. I am now pleased to be able to confirm that the casting will be released on 5 May in advance of booking opening." http://www.roh.org.uk/news/autumn-201516
  6. Interestingly, Calvert has now disappeared from the May 14 performance as well. http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/woolf-works-by-wayne-mcgregor This would seem to indicate that the removal of the 8th female dancer (the third on the list) might have been intentional and not an error
  7. I've had a flyer from the Wycombe Swan. The RNZB Giselle will be there Friday November 6 (7.30pm) and Saturday November 7 (2.30pm and 7.30pm)
  8. It came in answer to Bruce Wall's question. The information is available in the ROH Magazine which is sent to Friends of Covent Garden. The magazines are sent to Friends in batches. This is why some Friends received it two weeks ago, others only in the last few days.
  9. Some further information: The full length ballets and the mixed bills do not have the same prices . There is a slight variation. The prices in brackets are for matinées Stalls Circle Standing: £11 (£10) for Romeo and Nutcracker £10 (£8) for The Viscera and Two Pigeons mixed bills £4 Connectome/Raven Girl Amphitheatre standing: £6 (£5) Romeo and Nutcracker £5 (£4) Viscera and Two Pigeons mixed bills £2 Connectome/Raven Girl
  10. Yet more award nominations for An American in Paris: http://www.broadwayworld.com/article/2015-Drama-Desk-Nominations-Announced-Updating-LIVE-20150423 Nominated in 12 categories for the 2015 Drama Desk Awards, including outstanding musical and outstanding actor and actress in a musical (Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope)
  11. Calvert has now reappeared at one performance only (May 14) Something very strange going on with the website!
  12. Hamilton was already in the first night cast. Interestingly, the third named female dancer seems to have disappeared from both casts - Nuñez from the first cast and Calvert from the second cast. I wonder if this is a website error. http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/woolf-works-by-wayne-mcgregor Edited to add link to ROH website
  13. More award nominations for An American in Paris and Leanne Cope and Robert Fairchild: http://dramaleague.org/events/awards/nominees The nominations were for the 'outstanding production of a Broadway or Off-Broadway musical'and the 'distinguished performance award'.
  14. The ROH website now has details of subsidiary casting for Fille: http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/la-fille-mal-gardee-by-frederick-ashton
  15. Since SC standing places have been included, the seats in the end sections have not formed part of the day seat allocation
  16. As far as I know, they are not removing all of the stalls circle day seat allocation. As I understand it, the rest of the current allocation of day seats in row C of the stalls circle will still be available next season (C22-26 and 87-91) Of course these seats are considerably more expensive than stalls circle standing (around £20 for mixed bills and up to £35 for full length works)
  17. I just had confirmation from the online booking team that, from the Autumn Season, the number of day places will be reduced and that these 23 day places will not be replaced.
  18. Thanks for finding these, Bruce. However I couldn't get your link to the Variety review to work. This one seems OK: http://variety.com/2015/legit/reviews/american-in-paris-review-broadway-1201471069/
  19. When was he promoted? The ROH website still has him as an Artist. http://www.roh.org.uk/about/the-royal-ballet/artists
  20. Thanks for that, BBB. Sounds like an interesting book. I also find the history of the Tube quite fascinating.
  21. When I was young there was a station called simply ‘Strand’ which was between Leicester Square and Charing Cross on the Northern Line. The exit I used to use led directly into Villiers Street (almost opposite John Adam Street). I believe that the underground station that was then known as Charing Cross is now known as Embankment.
  22. I've just posted this on the Swan Lake thread. We have, at last, been told who is replacing Lauren Cuthbertson in the two April performances. http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-lauren-cuthbertson-unable-to-dance-in-swan-lake-on-26-march-and-2-9-april-2015 Takada on the 2nd and Salenko on the 9th
  23. Akane Takada to dance with Muntagirov April 2nd. Salenko April 9 http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-lauren-cuthbertson-unable-to-dance-in-swan-lake-on-26-march-and-2-9-april-2015
  24. The brief item Ian refers to can be found 19 minutes into last night's BBC London News. You'll have to watch it this afternoon, however, as it seems it will only be available until 7pm tonight. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b05gwnqk/bbc-london-news-26032015
  25. http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-lauren-cuthbertson-unable-to-dance-in-swan-lake-on-26-march-and-2-9-april-2015 She appears to be doing March 26 only.
