  5. They have been around for 20 years or so. DD was talking about them today liking the excitement of getting your first La Duca’s to your first pointe shoes or getting Jason Samuel Smiths. Yes they do seem to vary depending on the style. You can check on the web site for how they differ and they will help if you call them. They don’t refund but do exchange.
  6. Can you get her to start using the Duolingo App? It’s great for learning new languages. When DC went at that age there were a number whose first language was not English. The important thing is to be able to understand the teachers in class. The children will be fine together. I used to spend summers abroad in countries I didn’t speak the language and children do manage to communicate well.
  7. This came up in my Instagram feed - I don’t know anything about it but as it’s Germany thought it might be of interest. https://instagram.com/youngstarsballet?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  8. Yes it is the Insight billed as REHEARSING: THE SLEEPING BEAUTY CLORE STUDIO
  9. Hoping for a single ticket for this rehearsal. Thank you 🙏🏻
  10. What age group is your DC? What are their aspirations as a dancer? Each of these will offer different things. There may also be others that people can suggest.
  11. This looks like it will be an interesting read. https://pointemagazine.com/alice-robb-chats-about-her-new-book-dont-think-dear-on-loving-and-leaving-ballet/?fbclid=IwAR29GaZFtMNvmKU_dRePnRSc3oOyQHHzmdlVpXVvVvRmgPOmeH1pcG3O-pM
  12. I have first hand information that RBS was aware of the comment with regards a member of their staff. I take it that this is why the thread is now closed.
  13. Okay - I’ll get back you with what DC suggests.
  14. Are you looking for RAD Adv2 work or just that level of class? Even the Adv/Pro classes cover a number of levels and Adv2 work is hard. I can ask DC which they consider to be best for technique and in terms of getting any individual corrections. It depends on if they just want to keep up with fitness and work on what they know they need to work on or require support in an area. That’s sometimes not easy in an open class.
  15. Thank you - I am sorted!!! Does anyone have a spare seat for this evening’s performance? They are coming up at the box office but I keep missing them. Thank you.
  16. Hoping to pick up a single SCS ticket for tomorrow’s matinee. Thank you.
  17. Yes most definitely - DC’s friend was offered DaDA from wait list.
  18. The DaDA is for the fees and maintenance but unless your family income is less than £33k you won’t be eligible for the maintenance component. From £33k to £90k there is a sliding scale of contribution. So yes if you are not eligible it will be at least £30k a year.
  19. When DC did NYB the girls were expected to buy a branded leotard and t-shirt to wear for publicity shots. She loved the leotard - plain colour with logo you didn’t see anyway so don’t understand why it was needed - but can’t recall the t-shirt. If I recall the next year the t- shirt was quite distinctive. Other other items were optional. If I recall it was under £40 but that was 4 years ago. You will need to get shoes and tights for each dance and have pointe shoes for rehearsals and the shows, if the dance requires them. The costs of the Birmingham nonresidential days and one or two overnights in London- depending on how far you are away - are the biggest additional costs.
  20. ENB have just restated their adult classes and I and am sure I read they were running taster sessions.
  21. There are usually around 15 girls in Birmingham and 15 in London. The times vary from year to year but it’s about three hours around 2.30 to 6.30. Over the last few years, based on the times DD and friends of various ages have been going, there has been flexibility on the timing from term to term. Congratulations on the place.
  22. Others maybe able to confirm but DC is pretty sure this is an invitation to join classes at WL where they assess you against the current year with the possibility of being offered a place. We know of a case where this happened but it wasn’t called quite the same thing. Royal have a number of names for waitlists so I am assuming they do the same for the various personal invitations.
  23. We have heard of a DC been given an offer - Wednesday or Thursday last week.
  24. Other than some giving up places I haven’t heard of a place from waitlist. There will be others still waiting Elmhurst results so still time.
  25. Which audition group was your daughter in for the 1st round? I think it was roughly Group 1 Juniors and Group 2 Years 7 to 10 and Group 3 Years 11 and above
