    So glad everything is moving on for you Michelle. I just wanted to second your recommendation for 'dancing in the street'. I only use them as an online store, as they are too far for me to travel to, but they have always been fantastic and so helpful. I've been known to ring and say 'DD wears this flat ballet shoe, but we need an X shoe etc' and they advise and have been known to measure things for me!

    I can't help with shops or fitters, but DD wears Bloch European in a XXX and she has very wide feet! She has tried several others, but always ends up back with these.

    That is F section ( 16 yrs and older ) Character territory !!! Occasionally you get a happy or funny character dance at that age, but usually there is death of some form or the other! We call it the 'doom & gloom' section !!! 😆

    I love to see 'old fashioned' age appropriate duets for little ones, rather than some 'all singing all dancing blinged to the eyeballs' routines! Going to the seaside, playing and/or falling out with friends!, fairies. I saw several duets/trios from Mary Poppins/Chitty/Oliver/Annie and the like. Lots of disney themed too -- pinochio/jiminy cricket, peterpan and tink, mermaids, frozen, etc! have fun!

    My DD has never danced with BB or in Hull, but we know many girls who do. It may be that if you can't make the audition, they offer you an 'in class' audition another time? I know this is something they do. Good luck and best wishes to your DD

    Quite agree ... it seems to be a 'rite of passage' for the serious triple threats ... first pointe shoes, then Jason Samuel's, then La Ducas ! It comes to something when Pointe Shoes are the cheapest shoes you buy! Although, you shouldn't have to replace the others as frequently! DD has had to wait till her feet stopped growing to get hers!

    We had similar, but paid for classes as DD went to the majority and just watched or took part in the bits she could do. It ensured she didn't miss anything being taught. We did lose money for competitions, intensives and exams. (Although we got a partial refund for exams)

    My DDs dance school took RAD exams recently. The results were back within a few days! Never known them so quick!

    DD attends dance competitions both with her dance school and independently. These give her the opportunity to perform and create memories, as well as strengthen friendships. Being placed and winning a medal or trophy is an added bonus.

    Prima Dance Events have an intensive for a couple of days in half term in Halifax at Studio 59. DD has only done their dance comps, but everything is well organised.

    My DD has just been auditioning for post 18 musical theatre courses. She wore a pair of smart trousers in a bright colour and then a plain contrasting fitted sleeveless top, with a pair of nude heels (a couple of colleges said no higher than 2 inches). Sometimes she wore her hair down, sometimes in a low pony and sometimes left it in a ballet bun. This is very much her usual 'style' and so she was much more comfortable than if she'd worn a dress for example. Definitely agree with Balletbean that it's a 'Sunday lunch' not 'Saturday night' outfit! And the outfit is not 'costuming' the song. DD wore light makeup and only lip gloss for her auditions as that is what she usually wears. Some of the girls she met had 'audition leotards', but DD tended to take a couple of favourites with her, and wore which took her fancy when it was time to dance. Best of luck to your DD Joanne1.     DD has very wide feet and started off with Bloch European in XXX. A few years later, and a try with an assortment of shoes... she is (and has been for past year) back with the Bloch European. A fair few of her friends also wear them as they come in a variety of widths and 2 strengths of shank. We use planet dance near Leeds, which is obviously not in London, but has a wide variety of shoes to try.

    Highly recommend the Renaissance Arts Scholars. My DD is in her 6th year with them! And is also auditioning with them for post 18 studies. They are worked hard, but DD really enjoys the classes and they have definitely helped her develop into the dancer she is today. Classes are every other week on a Sunday afternoon, with ballet and jazz classes, and optional vocal and pointe classes. Auditions are usually held in the summer term for the next academic years entry.

    Probably too late, and no use for hotels, but the the 'your parking space' and 'just park' have parking spaces near Quarry Hill that are reasonably priced for the whole day.

    DD is getting ready to send off UCAS form and assorted applications for colleges. Do the colleges usually have auditions on particular days? A friend's child seemed to have most of their auditions on a wednesday or thursday, but I didn't know if that was luck?! Just trying to get my head around that bit of it, as I'm leaving the rest of it to DD! She seems very calm about it, I'm thoroughly confused having read what is required! 😆 I would love them to be at weekends, but I expect that is wishful thinking! Thanks xx

    Renaissance Arts Conservatoire in Leeds does Ballet and Jazz. It takes students from 16, but a lot go at 18. DD has been dancing with them as a 'Scholar' ( additional training for those who still attend their regular school and dance classes ) for the past 5 years, and I am very impressed by them.
