  1. I have no experience in this but it does sound like “starting again” would be a good thing for her. She doesn’t need to worry about catching up with her peers, I know plenty of students who have started at different ages for various reasons. By repeating the year she will start with a new group and they will work their way through together.
  2. That’s a tough one and I really wouldn’t to be you. Having said that could you look at this year as being a foundation year ? Obviously that doesn’t solve the friendship issue but it might help her get her head around it. I am guessing they must have good reason for this.
  3. TBH I didn’t search them. DD only wears Bloch, she would love a Chloe and Maud pair but she needs to wear her current pair out 😀
  4. If they are black and white with the red heart they Chloe and Maud made by Bloch - two incredibly tap dancers.
  5. Exactly, go and give it ago. Better to have tried, rather than constantly thinking “what if” Good luck and let’s us know how it goes.
  6. Kate Barnard (katebarnard.com) is a Physio in Bedford who specialises in sports injuries. She is lovely and I am sure she could help you, if not she will certainly know who you should be seeing.
  7. I have no idea how easy it is for you to travel but Can I suggest you book her into Ballet West Summer School this summer and maybe look at other summer schools or end of year performances. Plus in March 2019 coming over to Move It, where you will be able to see a wide range of colleges / universities. In many ways because of her birthday you do have time on your hands, no rush, do the research.
  8. Just a quick question: what school year will she be ? From the information you have given she is going to be in yr 11 in September 2019, which is GCSE year, entry at 16 is exactly that 16+ not 15 and turning 16 during the first year.
  9. That’s the one DD got last year, she is a size 6 and we bought the Small, it’s a fab practice tutu.
  10. If you know her exam board next years exam dates will be on line. They will be provisional but it would give you an idea.
  11. That is half term week, there are never any GCSE or A levels that week.
  12. It is really important to remember that all our bodies need time to rest, no matter how old or young we are. Resting enables our bodies to recover.
  13. We had only heard good things but sadly our experience was not good. However I would say like all these things everyone has good and bad experiences, go along and see what you thing.
  14. I guess they are not working about travel arrangements because they are after dancers who are local to each venue.
  15. We had a result through from an exam taken at RAD HQ on March 21st about an hour ago.
  16. The only thing DD has had is a request the day after she submitted her application form to re send her video link .......
  17. I have to agree with Harwel, why do you need external classes especially if the child in question is at vocational school.
  18. Yes !you do need a doctor’s prescription. DD is on a 12 week prescribed dosage and it is a huge dosage. Once she has finished this she has to go on a daily multivitamin I will add she has an incredible healthy diet, she genuinely doesn’t do junk food.
  19. DD recently had blood tests for a ton of different things, no surprises to find she was low of Vit D considering she is in doors all day. She is on supplements and has continued as normal. I suspect the main culprit was last academic year - Yr 11 and still training for 16 hrs a week, 7 days a week. She feels much better and definitely isn’t as tired.
  20. I am for ever saying exams are stepping stones. Each exam leads on to the exam or adventure in the individuals life. As Pups said some people are better at taking exams than others, this doesn’t mean they are the best. I am not taking away the fact that getting a distinction is a fantastic achievement however there is so much more to dance ( music, drama, GCSE, A levels etc ) than the end result. I also have a DD who if too long is spent on the grade/ syllabus she goes backwards, having said that she took her GCSE Music two tears early and got an A* despite never getting a distinction in all her music exams. So much can depend on the day but as long as the child feels they have done their best the result is irrelevant
