  1. Wow Chunky, that certainly is a long time to be in the ‘Royal Family’! Thank you for sharing your story & I wish your young adult the very best of luck in their ongoing journey....xx I do an adult class with several people who trained at WL &/or RBS US (when at Talgarth Road) of varying ages & they are all still very much ‘Royal’.... it never leaves you & they never ‘leave’ the Royal! Dare I hope my DD might just get that lucky Royal summons to join the AA of waitlist? Well 🤞🏻🤞🏻for her but whoever are the fortunate ones to secure places I know will deserve & cherish them & I wish all the very best of luck!
  2. Yes, email 25th March - DD short wait list for Advanced Assoc in London (attended the London audition) 🤞🏻🤞🏻For your results
  3. Thanks - sounds worth a look (though hubbie did find a temp barre in garage I’d forgotten about! Bit long, bit wonky but working well & was free so we are good for now.... bit expect others will also be grateful of your info wrapsnbows - thanks! Stay happy & healthy!
  4. Going back a few years now & for year 7 entry (so this may not be current policy) I was told by the then Director of Dance that all at finals who didn’t get offer of funding were on a numbered reserve list for funding & - at that time - it was shared with us in request that we were not particularly high so best advice was to be looking at plans B/C..... I couldn’t say if you can get that info nowadays... Remember though that not that many per year group are even invited to finals across each year group so DC’s have already achieved much to be proud of! Also remember that it is often the same faces at finals for all the MDS lower schools & for the Ballet focussed Upper Schools. And the best of the best may well receive multiple offers of funded places from these schools but will only ever accept a place at ONE of them so that may free up a funded place at one or more school for another candidates on these schools reserve lists.... So well done to those with a yes to funded place & good luck deciding whether to accept it or another offer....& well done also to those on reserve list & GOOD LUCK! I really hope all the offers enable as many DC’s as possible to go to their first choice School....but also remember that another option still may offer exactly the right fit for their immediate future training at this time! Good luck with all the decisions & let’s hope that we can all look optimistically to Ballet life getting back to normal as soon as possible for our DC’s xx
  5. Ooh will try watch this when I get a moment! Never been to see theatre in Paris & at this time virtual tourist visit sounds a great option! Thanks for posting!
  6. Can I ask where from/how much please? Thank you!
  7. As said earlier, we’ve had lots of straight ‘no’ emails plus then a variety of titled wait lists & one hallowed (couple of years ago spring course) yes! Never got a place for either SA’s/Summer from any of those hallowed wait lists....but hoping this could be the year! Ironically, if it did happen not 100% sure doable but hey, ever the optimist 😀!
  8. Now that’s the million dollar question! I can assure you that there are various terms used as have had then all so cecDD applied for JA’s, MA’s, SA’s & Spring& Summer courses... we’ve had no’s, one yes (Spring) and then a variety of ‘wait list’ terms.... non of which have materialised into offer of a place.... these have been ‘Select Wait List’, ‘Short Wait List, ‘Priority WaitvList’ & ‘Director’s Wait List’ ( which sounded very grand as it listed that Mr X as inviting her to be on the list!!!) Personslly I think these are all one & the same List & if any places become available they will be offered to the ‘best fit’ candidate off whichever wait list...ie. a ten year old boy will be replaced by another ten year old boy. I’ve wondered if the different wait list names just depend on who did the email out that year for that group or indeed if they have fun making us all guess the order of priority! 🤣🤣😧😧😭😭 Do wish though that they’d adopt one term & it be more transparent & understandable & stop the (very natural) human nature response to wonder if X kid is ahead of Y kid in the ‘pecking order’!!! The key word to remember is these are kids being ‘judged/graded/rejected/given hope’. And most of their non dancing peers never get judged this way....though I’m sure it’s replicated where kids apply to join any form of elite sports/music etc training. Good luck to all!
  9. Completely forgot about this one! SWL Advanced Assoc London.... not even sure I know what this actually is? Weekly Saturday lesson? So used to just ticking those boxes! Won’t raise Royal hopes though as places never came up from SWL for SA’s & summer schools the last couple of years....still, nice to get a ‘maybe’ at least! Congrats to the yes’s & rest of our DC’s can try, try & try again! Let’s hope good news shared here helps raise all our spirits will looking to a brighter future! xx
  10. Contact them.... explain perhaps all the extra online home schooling making internet a problem & but a bit of time! I’m sure they will extend based on current situation....
  11. Yes, very good point... we all want our kids to be able to go back as if neverchaving been away once they can & that will only happen if schools remain ‘as if open’ albeit with staff homeworkimg. Presumably too there will be access to various Yreadury measures to help ease the burden on schools (vocational & independent dance ) finances.... & hopefully families paying some/all fees may too benefit from some assistance.... Looking very much as if we all just have to ‘suck it up & make the best of it we can’ We may all be poorer but most important is we remain healthy & support all our family members, friends, colleagues & of course schools & their staff.
  12. It’s got me thinking about next term & vocational fees.... Don’t have insurance (seemed pointless to take any in GCSE year as if something made dance not possible kid would still attend as it’s exam year....) Well how foolish does that look now? Always supposing insurance would actually cover & pay our for this extraordinary situation? I hope it does for those savvy souls who did take it out... Has anyone heard anything about what could happen if no swift return as far as next term fees etc? I appreciate schools will try provide distance learning etc but that can in no way make up for vocational dance training in studios with teachers & peers plus performance opportunities etc.... At same time I’m so worried for the dedicated staff across all areas of a school (teachers, house parents, cooks etc etc ) & how this impacts on them & the long term running & viability of a school... Such desperately sad & worrying times on so many levels 😟
  13. Tango Dancer I’m impressed:- Ballet, Bellydance, Swing & Samba Wot no Tango???😁
  14. As a total technophobe....when you say Live stream is that via Instagram/Facebook/YouTube? Do you just log in at set time & are they then left up to follow at another time if needed? thx
  15. I worry about the lack of momentum - especially for more recreational dancers -making many just fade away & not return to classes; again a possible financial loss for (mostly the smaller) schools. We must all try keep talking dance, dance, dance as much as we can...& do all we can to remain body & mind healthy & happy! Good Luck & Love to ALL
  16. Can you please explain further? Is this an online barre class or a brand of barre to buy?
  17. Be nice if RAD (& other bodies) could provide some level of free temporary access to their online content during this crisis to support its students & teachers (or at least at a reduced fee?) with perhaps discount incentive on future purchases to those who have already paid full fees etc for app access/DVD’s etc....
  18. Ha ha! I’m still someone who uses video & dvd’s! No sky or anything!! One day will get with technology.... My 92 year old Dad is ahead of me on this!! I need to start asking him to record on his sky box any ballet things to watch when I visit 🤣
  19. That must be so devastating after so much hard work & anticipation. Thoughts go out to all.... Guess other colleges in same boat re: grad showcases so let’s hope this is just a slight postponement to them all getting the opportunity to show their talents & embark on fulfilling careers! As the song goes... ”pick yourself up, dust yourself off & start all over again!” Thats showbiz
  20. Oh no! I feel deeply for all who are affected by this.... so much prep building up to the exam day..... just hope all can maintain the momentum & am sure all will do their best as & when normality can return Sending hugs x
  21. Fantastic to hear of an adult dancer supported to progress through the Vocational levels! I’d be interested to hear if you are in a ‘regular’ class & general ages.... I took RAD Inter aged 50 a couple of years ago but have since struggled to find any class to progress & sadly now feel I’ve completely lost the standard/fitness/health level I’d reached 🙁 But am ever hopeful that one day I can ‘get it back!’ If only I could find a class in a location on a day I can regularly attend! (Privates not an option financially sadly) In these challenging times maybe I’ll find some online option that just might kickstart me again! 🤞🏻 Life for us adult dancers is often complicated..... your story is reminding me to try give myself a proverbial kick up the **** & just try get on & somehow make it happen! GOOD LUCK!
  22. Thanks for the heads up.... I’ve avoided ever joining Facebook but this new ‘life’ may just tip me over the edge to have to join!
  23. Hope it can go ahead & wishing you really good luck! xx
