  1. I really enjoyed opening night (and general rehearsal before that). But I would agree that I found the "band" a bit dull, a good number of times I thought that conducting was way too slow. Even the balance-experienced and music-stretching principals dancing both the Auroras I've seen looked like they had issues keeping up (or rather down) with the music.
  2. Oh yes, Struwwelpeter book is another scary one. The story where the boy doesn't want to eat his soup and dies eventually...
  3. So that is quite close to the original Grimm's Cinderella then, where the first one sister cuts off her toes, then the other one her heel so that they can fit in Cinderella's glass slipper. Both times the prince is unaware and takes first one, then the other sister with him and rides off home until the doves alert him to the blood in the respective sister's shoe, that the shoe is to small and that the correct sister is still at home. "Rucke di gu, rucke di gu, Blut is im Shuh, der Schuh ist zu klein, die rechte Braut sitzt noch daheim." The original Grimm's fairy tales are typically quite dark, unlike the pretty Disney versions.
  4. Gen X is 1965-1980 (I proudly fall into that category) You might be referring to Millennials or Gen Z 😉
  5. Is anyone else experiencing the links to the dancers' profiles leading to the "People Pages" landing page?
  6. I agree. And I think they played a bit faster too, the show ended a few minutes earlier than the ones before Christmas
  7. Krampus (plural Krampusse) is a devil-like folkloric figure, accompanying Saint Nicholas. Given that the Nutcracker story is based on a story by E.T.A. Hofmann, the Germanic relation to Krampus makes good sense https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krampus
  8. in case anyone is interested in some more photos, here are the links to my Facebook Nutcracker 2022 album and my Instagram account (one post for each of the 6 Nutcrackers I have seen so far this season) Facebook album Instagram
  9. this evening's cast sheet suggests that we will be treated to Snowflakes also in Act II 😉
  10. I had first read Winter Season by Toni Bentley (a former NYCB dancer) as a teenager, shortly after it was first published, and have re-read it a couple of times since.
  11. Here’s a link to my IG Post of Sae Maeda’s Clara debut performance on 6th Jan 2022 https://www.instagram.com/p/CYcpRe2II_E/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  12. I totally agree. And that's why I made a London RB trip (living in Abu Dhabi at the time) for Mara's farewell performance
  13. I get that donation all the time too but can't decline, so I reduce to £1. It's really rather cheeky of ROH to force a donation.
  14. I fat fingered and accidentally bought the Diamond Celebration on Sat afternoon but I am actually flying on holidays that Saturday. Hence, I am selling my Stalls Circle Standing (D-36) for Saturday 19th November 1pm - £13 If interested please leave a comment here and get in touch via PM. Many thanks, Silke
  15. Does anyone else experience Error 500 right now when trying to access the cast sheet page? I get this error message on Chrome as well as Microsoft Edge.
  16. the Facebook album is growing IG - 04 June 2022 matinée IG - 04 June 2022 evening still everyone moving rather quickly for their bows but I was ever so slightly better prepared for it
  17. Ms de la Parra actually wears this kind of suit every time, it's her "uniform", she wore a very similar one for the R&J's she conducted
