  1. Thank you Primrose. It is really interesting to hear your dd experience.
  2. Hi, this step is currently being discussed in the Performances forum under RB Don Quixote 2014. Can anyone tell me if this step (or similar) would be part of a vocational grade syllabus or would it be a non syllabus type thing? Thanks
  3. Maybe CeliB or Talalee's mum have an opinion on how their dc are being trained compared to in the UK?
  4. Oh no - I would cry. Hopefully they will be on the train at the end of the day. Phone the train company quickly....
  5. I don't know any older students at vocational school but the younger ones seem extremely hard working, organised and motivated to me. Maybe we need to question the dancing education they receive? It seems there may be differing policies here and abroad...... Hopefully Mr Powney will update the education his students receive. On a related subject does anyone think the more petite size of many Asian girls would play a part in company selection?
  6. Lin That's a stunning video- thanks. I think the whole point of the Arts is that we all have an opinion.......

    Room 101

I agree. Unfortunately it is 'free' news- no journalistic enquiry required- so is very popular with broadcasters esp at this time of year. And it is embarrassing to hear it when compared to the other 'real' news events where lots of people have died (but you can't interview them for hours on end......)
  8. That's tricky Pictures - I would sleep on it for a few days.
  9. I am watching now on I-player. We are struggling to see much at all as costumes so dark against dark background with low lighting. Is this different live to those who have been? Very disappointing. Agree Edward Watson acting top class.
  10. I really appreciate the opinions of other dancing parents. As others have said before non dancing parents (and most of my friends are) just don't get our 'worries'-which is quite fair enough. ........
  11. Mummykool- I love the Grand Pas Classique. I don't have any technical knowledge but they made it look so easy so relaxing to watch. I know it's very personal but rarely feel like that watching ballet........
  12. Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone.

    No tights?

That was very illuminating taxi4ballet!! Some of those costumes make a tutu look cheap and I don't think I would put my child in many of them....... and how do you dance with half a peacock on your head??
  14. I agree the pressure on girls to be grown up or sexy or whatever is huge. It's not surprising our teen pregnancy rate is so high - they've done/had everything else by the time they're 13 some of these kids.

    Ebay problem

Now I've offered the return she 'hasn't got time to due to work commitments'. How long is reasonable for me to wait for the return?!!
  16. OMG you couldn't make it up could you? Good luck to both dds - at least it's over. ...... Alcohol all round for the parents.......
  17. Good luck to your dd pups mum - please let us know how she found it
  18. Sorry to hear about the nos. :-( Look on it as experience and good luck for the rest of the auditions. Xx
  19. Yes. A parent I know with a dd years ago at Tring said all sorts were added on and you only found out on next term's bill!! I guess they don't have time to ask everyone about everything but you would think prior approval would be required over a certain amount. You wouldn't give your child free rein to spend whatever on your credit card at home.

    Ebay problem

Well I still think my photo was accurate but I've offered a return...... My husband thinks I'm too soft! Don't know why I bothered to mark as 'no returns'!! Thanks for your thoughts. ....

    Hermes

I had a good experience with Hermes last week - but may've been lucky. Two parcels left at parcel shop delivered 4 days later.

    Ebay problem

I agree if it is a different colour than yes but I think my photo was accurate. .... I'll see what hers look like....

    Ebay problem

Hi all - I would value your opinion on this. I sold a purple North Face Jacket on ebay. The buyer says she is happy with the quality but not with the colour. She says it is much lighter than shown in the photo. I state no returns on my listings. I am gobsmacked to be honest. I really can't see any difference in colour. She says she has taken lots of photos that show it darker - im going to ask her to send them to me. We had a big sort out and listed some stuff prior to Xmas to generate some cash thinking it would be a good time to sell. If I accept a return I've lost the Christmas market and have the hassle of listing again. What do you think I should do??? Thanks
