  3. Thanks for the info Pulcinella - that is very tempting!
  4. BTW Martin James is from and trained in New Zealand. He joined LFB from RNZB and then followed Peter Schaufuss to Berlin and then the Royal Danish Ballet. He was a principal with RDB unitl he retired.
  5. Hello Pointytoes and welcome to the Forum. Good luck to your DD. Please let us know how you get on.
  6. Hello HappyBalletMum and welcome to the Forum. Congratulations to your DD. I can't answer your question but I am sure other members will be able to chip in. Do let us know how she gets on!
  7. The male dancer is Martin James but I can't put a name to the girl. I loved Makarova's production of Swan Lake for LFB, especially the Ashton sections - Neapolitan, PdQ and some of Act 4.
  8. Please continue to post Booklover89. We are all entitled to our opinions, you just as much as anyone else. Personally I think standards slipped sometime after around 1990 when I was tutted for wearing trousers in the stalls!!! I have worn jeans on 2 visits recently and noone has turned a hair!! And I was in the orchestra stalls!! I like the concept of an overall evening. A trip to the theatre is usually a treat and to be able to combine it with a meal/refreshments in the same location is great! Especially in such a great location.
  9. I don't know if this will be of any interest to our ballet teacher members: http://www.professionaldanceexperience.org.uk/balletteacherseminar/

  11. Good advice Balletfanp. You really should report him TQ.
  12. Well I'm just home from my impromptu trip to Southport. I really enjoyed the production. If you know anything about Aladdin you should be able to follow the story quite easily. The story is simply and attractively told without the need to resort to pantomime characters. The set is absolutely charming and the costumes are a riot of colour. I liked the music too, it had a real Eastern influence and was very tuneful. This hard-working company performed this piece with elegance and commitment. There are some very pretty pdd - I especially liked one for the genie-ess and the genie. There seemed to be a lot of young children in the audience and I am sure they must have enjoyed the performance as it is very accessible. The audience response at the end was very enthusiastic. I am so glad I got an unexpected opportunity to go!
  13. How about tonight? A last minute change of plan means I may be able to get to Southport!
  14. Blummin' pesky Canadians taking the world over again!!!! Sorry for the misdirection on the photograph.
  15. They are at the Brindley in Runcorn on 14th April and Buxton Opera House in June.

  17. Hello Anon! I've modified the title slightly to make it a bit clearer. There have been quite a few threads on Tring CBA over the last couple of years relating mostly to auditions for those years. They show up if you search on "Tring Classical Ballet" (the search facility doesn't like CBA). Although the threads won't answer your specific query they may give you some good background information.
  18. Hello DawnB14 and welcome to the Forum. Congratulations to your DS and Shygirlsmum's DD! Fantastic news for you both
  19. Very well done to your DD Audsj. I hope you will continue to post now that your daughter will be staying in Canada. We'd love to hear how she progresses!
  20. I've amended the title of this thread as so much has been affected. ENB have just tweeted that tomorrow's 11am performance of My First Swan Lake at the Peacock Theatre has been cancelled. https://twitter.com/ENBallet/status/583998944738414592
  21. I wouldn't have said 8 wears is unreasonable. It's worth trying to get an exchange/refund. I assume you've still got the original receipt. I bought my niece a pair of Vans for Christmas and asked for a gift receipt. I bought them a good 8 weeks before Christmas and the shop said they will consider returns on a case by case basis for up to a year!!!
  22. I have that problem with my phone too Nana! Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rambert-School-of-Ballet-and-Contemporary-Dance/127864160561762?fref=ts
