  1. If you like a simple cap sleeve with a little rouching at the front try Gaynor Minden. Available through eBay, all sizes and a range of colours. Dd wore one to all her Upper school auditions in Navy. It doesn't have to be strappy. Good luck 🍀
  2. Zurich Ballet Academy, Dutch National, John Cranko, Hamburg, Princess Grace, Vaganova, Bolshoi, Danzare and POB.
  3. The Totnes JA teacher is lovely and will not mind I'm sure. Good luck to your Dd, mine loved her time at Dartington 😁
  4. I think the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland offers the same degree funding arrangements x
  5. I think you can request to be reassessed if you have a change if circumtances. X
  6. We go on Photobox and make a poster of different photos from the past year and put it in a plastic clip frame. Light and easy to put on the wall and renew x
  7. I think it's either they take the debt or we as parents do đŸ˜ĸ
  8. Also, with the DaDa system there is no discount for siblings. We have been assessed on our income twice, separately, with out the costs for one removed before the other is assessed đŸ˜ĸ It's not affordable. The only positive is that you are only assessed once at the beginning of the 3 years, so you can go mad and work / earn til you drop after 😰 I deeply regret not looking abroad. Consider all your options, not just the UK x
  9. You can continue to claim child benefit, family allowance, so long as you don't earn above ÂŖ50,000, until the child is 20, so long as they are doing A levels with their diploma.
  10. Ds and Dd on DaDas at Elmhurst. The living costs are not billed separately, there is one bill for both based on your income as with the MDS. But BUPA, RAD and uniform costs are extra. Dd was reserve for ENBS, that would have cost us, middle earns, over ÂŖ5,000 a year more due to the separate London living expenses. 😰
  11. A memory foam topper. Boarding school mattresses are awful 😁
  12. Team uk did amazing. Conquering dancing in 40* and on an unexpected raked stage ? 36 juniors and 20 seniors from 7 countries. The jury watched them do a contemporary and ballet class, then their individual solos. 3 UK students made it to the final, my Dd included, all from Elmhurst. Prizes and scholarships awarded, many to the UK ? Dont understand how someone can attend two summer intensives at the same time in different parts of the world so I'm sure some will be returned. Overall an amazing, very expensive, experience for Dd. Solos at school will not be so scary anymore ? She made some lovely new friends from all over the world. The UK ?? did us proud ?? cant wait to get home to the UK weather though ☔ī¸ ?
  13. Geraldine Lamb Dance School in Saltash and Plymouth is fantastic ! All 3 of mine attended classes there. They have just won a silver medal in the Dance School of the Year competition. RAD ballet, lots attending RBS associates at Totnes and Elmhurst associates in Plymouth. My Dd and Ds both went from there to Elmhurst. Can't recommend the support enough ?
  14. Dd and I on our way to Florence via Rome. So excited ? Good luck to all the competitors ?
  15. Elmhurst pupils do have access to independent student advocates. Councilling services are available externally but these are not free. BUPA do have a dedicated Mental Health Team that pupils can access including Psychologists etc. I agree that there is still a stigma attached to mental health and not enough is being done to support our young dancers on their difficult journey. Us parents need help too sometimes ?
  16. My Ds started local ballet classes at 12, auditioned unsuccessfully for lower schools and 6:1. Started SAs at 16, then got a place at Elmhurst Upper school at 17. When it's your time it will happen ?
  17. For Elmhurst, everyone gets an audition and I requested which on was more convenient for us and was granted it. Apply early to get your choice. Good luck ?
  18. Totally agree Kat09. We are 5 years in with 3 more to go ? and 2 dc at vocational school. My heart goes out to all on the ballet rollercoaster ❤ī¸
  19. She is reserve for ENBS, had finals for RBS, declined Central and is staying at Elmhurst. Her brother is at Elmhurst. He was just taller than her at 16 and got a no. Went back a year later, 17 and taller, and got a yes. Since he has been there he has grown 3 more inches ? My children are just late growers unfortunately. Dd will grow next year ?
  20. I had heard about there being a minimum height. Dd is 5ft 2 and on the reserve list ? She did feel that she was the shortest at finals !
  21. 4 of the current year 11 girls were in each group. Dd said there were a few no shows ! Now the wait ???? The very best of luck to all ????????
  22. It's a yes for Dd ???? So excited ! By post Flora. Good luck to those waiting x
  23. Very excited that Dd has been offered a place at Covent Garden SS following her no result from finals. Unfortunately she will be unable to attend as it clashes with the Cechetti International Ballet Competition in Florence. Good luck to those on the waiting list ????????
  24. 3 Elmhurst girls going to Florence, Billy Elliot. Excited that my Dd is one of them and I'm her chaperone ???? Sorry about your Ds ☚ī¸
