My daughter has been given a place for the junior modern ballet course at RCS in the summer holidays. Just wanted to know if anyone has any experience of this course and if it’s worth it for an 8 year old to attend? Thanks

Please ask questions about Upper School/6th Form auditions in this thread. Do also make use of the "search" facility (top right of the forum pages) in case your question has been asked before. :-) I apologise for not tagging all Upper Schools but tags are limited in number. Hi, My DD has been with Scottish Ballet Mid Associates this past year and has been accepted on the associate programme for Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for 23/34. Ultimately her aim is to study the modern ballet degree at RCS…. I’m just wondering I anyone can shed any light as to why fees are SO much more at RCS (when worked out per hour) when the teachers seem to be the same as those at Scottish Ballet???

Please could anyone give me more information about the BA Modern Ballet course at RCS. With COVID restrictions we have not been able to visit the school which makes the decision process very difficult. I have been offered a place and am very excited but I have other schools to also consider. Anything you can tell me about the school will be gratefully received. Thanks.

My dd has made it through to final audition end of March. She really loved her first audition and got a lovely vibe but i am just looking for feedback on the school and what to expect at final audition please.

I’ve just noticed that RCS and Elmhurst finals are on the same day! Did it happen previously? What do you do in this situation? It’s so unfortunate! If a DC can afford to audition just to a few schools, is lucky to get finals and then put in this situation it’s just not right. I know I should wait to see if my DC gets any finals and then worry but just planning ahead

Hi, I would be grateful for any feedback on the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland BA Modern Ballet Course and if they run a Ballet Summer School Course (re the summer course ideally what ballet level this would be aimed at). Doing a bit of research for dd auditioning in 2019. Thanks in advance 😊 -
Hi Dd has applied to RCS and sent everything via UCAS around October. We have requested the London audition as that is easier for us to get to. We have been checking the UCAS tracking site but it still shows no audition date. Just checking no one else has heard and I’m looking in the wrong place ! Anxious to hear now as getting close for booking trains and accomadation if needed, depending on audition time etc. Thanks loulou

I'm applying for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's Modern Ballet course for Sept. 2015 entry. As the application is done through CUKAS, you have to write a 4000 word personal statement Could those who have applied to RCS/have experience of writing personal statements for dance give any advice on what is important to include? And is the personal statement really that important for this kind of course where so much is based on talent, physicality etc. at audition? Thanks x

Good morning all. I and my DD had the pleasure of travelling to Glasgow this week as she was auditioning at RCS. The facilities at Spiers Lock are superb and all the staff we met were most welcoming. I'm wondering does anyone else here have DC auditioning here this year or DC in situ - particularly girls. I would love to get some in site into the programme from those that might already be underway in their studies or have graduated. Many thanks. Kat

Hello - I'm a new member on the forum and wondered if anyone can comment or give advice on the Scottish Ballet School. My niece has been accepted in September to commence her BA in Modern Ballet in Glasgow but has also been accepted at Central in London. Its a difficult decision for her and we do not know anyone else who has been to either schools. She is 17 and has just finished her first year of A Levels in Spanish and German - she would like to continue at least one of these in her own time but again information on how she could do this seems hard to find because the system is different in Scotland. She is favouring Scotland but would like to read anyones comments if anyone has been or may also be going.. Thanks for any help. Dexter169

Hello, just wondering, if there is anybody out there with any personal experience or knows of anybody who has completed or is currently on this course who has given any feedback. My DD has been offered a place here and at another etsablished school in London and although thought the course in Scotland seemed very friendly and caring we only know what we experienced at the auditions and the information from the website and what we were given on the day. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
