dancingdays77 Posted August 5, 2020 Share Posted August 5, 2020 Hello, My daughter is auditioning for a year 6 place this weekend. I know of 2 girls who auditioned for year 7 EYD places last weekend and they were in different Zoom groups. They had completely different audition classes which seemed to be different levels of ability. For example, one student had splits and pirouettes in their audition but the other girl didn’t. Has anyone else heard of this? I don’t understand how they can judge them fairly when they’ve done completely different auditions? Thank you! The only thing I can think of is that the girl in the splits and pirouette audition does have a stereotypical “ballet body”, which I guess they could probably tell from the photos. And having just looked back over the audition photos we sent in, I worry that DD has already been consigned to the not so good group if dancingdays' theory is correct 😂 What group is your DD in? I did the same thing in the run up to the RBS JA's and got myself in a right old state !! They just want to see what she has to offer- not perfection as they couldn't teach her anything if she's perfect. I am sure they would have emailed you if you need more. As far as I know photos are not important it’s to make reference to you your child later on in the process. I really wouldn’t worry. However if you think a live audition they'd have been in their normal classes getting themselves prepared for them. All we would've had to do is make sure they look the way they need to and arrive at the right time. With the auditions being the way they are it's all fell to us - them looking right, right amount of space, following guidelines, video quality the list is endless !! I just think we all deserve a big pat on the back for not just making it through lockdown but also still managing to make it possible for our dancers to audition 👏. Perhaps you should email and ask whether year 5 for Birmingham are Auditioning this weekend It would Be awful if your DD missed her audition.
