Ballet Confused Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 I have recently moved to London and would like to commence my child at a ballet school in London that provides good technique as well as dance quality and has a high success rate in the children progressing to vocational schools such as White Lodge. I find the Internet has a wealth of schools but it is very difficult to know which schools will provide her with the best training should she wish to continue as a dancer when she is older. In addition, it seems many of the schools have their own syllabus or are performance based rather than teach RAD, Vaganova or Cechetti. Is it better to send her to a school with exams and 1 of these methods?
Tulip Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Anna Deboison not sure of spelling, has an excellent reputation, look her up at young dancers. 3
Jan McNulty Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Hello Ballet Confused and welcome to the Forum! I am sure you will get lots of responses but it is also worth using the search facility to look around earlier threads as there is already huge amounts of information on the forum. 1
Jan McNulty Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Anna du Boisson's school for youngsters: http://www.westlondonschoolofdance.co.uk 2
RobR Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Dear Ballet Confused, I've sent you a pm. If it hasn't shown in your inbox it may have diverted to your junk mail. I hope it helps.
Lisa O`Brien Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I was also going to suggest Anna Du Boisson's school, just by what people have said about the school on this forum in the past, but for the life of me I couldn't remember her name or the school's. Certainly, reading about her full time Young Dancer's Academy ,it sounds very very impressive. 1
amos73 Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Anna du boisson runs full time vocational school from 11-16 called young dancer's academy, and after school non vocational classes at west London school of dance. Non syllabus classes but not just performance, high standard of technique is taught. Pm me if you have any questions as my dd did wlsd classes last year and is starting at vocational school in a few weeks. 2
Pas de Quatre Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 (edited) Agreed, I too would recommend Anna du Boisson. Another school I would highly recommend for Vaganova training is Russian Imperial Ballet School run by Olga Semenova. Many of her pupils are Associates in various schemes and one is joining the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg this Autumn. Olga also teaches for Vocational schools, including Central and English National Ballet School. Edited August 28, 2016 by Pas de Quatre 4
newtothismum Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 My daughter (8 years) is starting the Young Dancers Academy Associates in a couple of weeks! Very excited to learn more and become part of this school! 2
primrose Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 (edited) Another thumbs up for anna du boussin also Natalia Kremin ex principle dancer with ENB trained with the Bolshoi teaches the Vagonava method. Edited August 28, 2016 by primrose 2
Kate_N Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I see the young dancers at the Danceworks International Ballet course as they're leaving & I'm going in. They seem to have very high-powered, experienced & qualified teachers as well: http://www.danceworks-academy.net/
Canary Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Ballet Confused did you find a suitable school or teacher ?
Hopeful???? Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Another thumbs up for anna du boussin also Natalia Kremin ex principle dancer with ENB trained with the Bolshoi teaches the Vagonava method. NK was never a principal dancer at ENB, just to clarify the facts if the topic is still active .
Katniss Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Can I just also add as a recommendation, Sarah Toner in North London. Many of her students are at the top vocational school including RBS both at WL and the Upper School. She has danced with BRB and many other ballet companies. My DD went to her after she failed failed to get finals for Elmhurst and Tring . Just 3 months later,dd was offered a place at WL...For us what makes Sarah so unique, apart from her astounding credentials and contacts is her absolute passion and love for dance combined with the most wicked sense of humour and fun. Dd has never laughed so much during lessons and also has never made as much progress. For us it has been like hitting the lottery jackpot of ballet training and we are forever grateful to another forum member for recommending her... 4

Pas de Quatre Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Try doing a search on the ARBTA (Association of Russian Ballet & Theatre Arts) they have a schoolfinder. Natalia Kremen's school and Olga's MBA are both members. 1

taxi4ballet Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 There is a ballet school in Hitchin, Hertfordshire which teaches the Russian method I believe, although I can't remember what it is called and I have no personal knowledge of the school. Is it particularly the Russian method you are looking for?
