  1. There is a travelodge at totteridge & whetstone which is about 1/2 mile from the tube & then it's a bu/taxi to LSC (although I have walked the few miles between them)
  2. Whoops _I answered a completely different question ignore me
  3. DD did this for a few castings, an associates scheme & a summer school I did one video uploaded on Vimeo - but I also split it down so there was a ballet section, a tap section, an MT section & so on My video editing skills are improving but the learning curve has been very steep......for a real job I think I'd have a professional do it But it's been something I've loved doing
  4. DD & I were standing on a platform at a station (ordinary hair & makeup) & the rail worker on the platform asked if she enjoyed her dance classes - she was standing in third apparently! At Blackpool we were regularly recognised by out competition hair & make up & because at the time DH was the only male black dance teacher
  5. That works for me I can be a systems analyst & Project Manager for it
  6. DD a Ballroom dancer for many years is 'significantly not ready' to take her test after many, many driving lessons according to her driving teacher
  7. I told you all years ago - spreadsheets are the future Although I am flirting with a database atm......
  8. Just in case anyone is interested DD loved it there http://www.artistryyouthdance.com/
  9. Performers Easter School is very good - DD did it as a pre-voc & the standard is good - but it could be a bit clique as the pre-vocs attend The Arts Ed one DD did (2 weeks - Bugsy Malone), she enjoyed but everyone was younger and not what I expected - our fault as we should have researched better I imagine LSC's summer school would be excellent
  10. Moomin - I love in the second link how there are High calorie snack to have & low calorie snacks to avoid.....DD would probably have 2 from each list Her BMI is OK at about 18.6 so we wouldn't get a dieticians appt. Milkshake is the way to go I think
  11. Condensed milk & a banana solved the taste issue & we may well not buy again after this lot is finished.
  12. TBH her GP isn't very interested - I'm wondering if there is someone at the physio practise we went to I'll keep you all updated with what I find out Thanks DrDance - I appreciate it
  13. That is the one she has munchkin - & frozen spinach has been bought (yuk!)
  14. She is pretty good at eating - generally I guess I'm trying to fix two problems with one solution 1) the physio thinks she needs more protein 2) she can't snack easily any more because of the retainer & I'm worried she will lose weight & she wanted a blender thingie to make shakes with spinach & fruit & stuff
  15. She is taking iron supplements & vitamin D, we won't get a GP appt now before she goes back, wish I'd thought of that when she got back
  16. This is all really complicated - I don't really understand it - we've been given the name of a shop to go & look at - hopefully someone there can talk us through it The websites seem to expect a level of knowledge eg just protein vs protein plus carbs; & I just don't know enough yet, so I'll keep googling DD has decided vanilla might be better than chocolate
  17. We ended up at Boots & Holland and Barrett She doesn't like the chocolate flavour I'll try that vanilla one Drdance I am concerned that with her retainer (brace came off just before Christmas) she will eat less....& she gets so tired after class- she got a blendactive for Christmas so smoothies are in her future
  18. Thanks Munchkin, is that a particular brand? Where do you buy it from?
  19. Is anyone or their children using protein shakes? DD was advised to by the physio (20g x3; am, pm & after her hardest class) But we are a bit stumped as to what to buy - she doesn't like the taste of the one we tried & they cost a lot to be 'not nice' As she struggles to maintain her weight my brother has suggested we get one with plenty of fat in it - but so many seem to be about weight control/loss - which would be completely unsuitable. He also thinks dance might be more like long distance running or even rugby so if we go to a proper sports/bodybuilding shop that's what we should say, is he right? (she does a lot of commercial and Jazz on her course alongside tap, contemporary & ballet) Does anyone have any suggestions for us?
  20. Merry Christmas Everyone May 2016 be calm & peaceful
  21. Performers was inspected too at a similar time & got Outstanding
  22. DD says hers are all at college - so your project might need to be in before she gets to see them Can you google images for the bags?
  23. Don't worry about outcomes enjoy learning & dancing Have fun - that's why you dance because it's fun
  24. That apart from certain steps in ballet for most dance she needed to make a consious effort to keep them loser as when they were locked all the strain was on the tendons/ligaments & it could lead to injury
  25. DD was at a physio today as she pulled her Achilles at the start of term & then her foot a week ago He has recommended some specific exercises and a special massage on her calf - but not any stretching as she is too hypermobile anyway. I was very impressed by the knowledge he had of Ballet as well as other types of Jazz and he was very careful to explain when she needs to 'lock' her knees. Very impressive
