  1. DD's dance teacher changed her uniform for the bratek leotard after discussion with the girls; for most of them it's fine At college DD wears a sports bra that shows and it isn't a problem - but as you say costumes for shows can be tricky Combining a larger cup size (EE) & a smaller back size (26) means everyday bra buying is tricky & specialist bras are almost impossible
  2. No dancing at all atm so I'm not worried about her doing pointe I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it a little odd I've told her not to sew/wear them until her teacher here has seen them - at least she knows what DD's foot looks like when it's uninjured (& yes I'm sure the schools teachers/shops fitters know what they are doing but she's my baby & I worry as she hasn't done a lot of pointe yet)
  3. Should DD have had new ponte shoes fitted while she has a swollen ankle from a torn Achilles? I know I'm being daft - but I just don't know if it's OK or not (I wouldn't buy new shoes while I had a swollen ankle) Never mind the stress of a bill for pointe (which I wasn't expecting) tap & latin shoes!!
  4. I added: Travel arrangements Audition uniform Audition kit (CDs, sheet music, solos ect, monologues, passport photos, id etc) Where we were staying & maps of the area to the spreadsheet - which really helped & I made up a folder with all the information in (duplicates f the music & everything) plus a master copy The master copy a leotard/tights/shoes went in her handbag & the audition & audition kit went in her dance bag - then even if she lost one or other she was OK - the Master kit was used in 2 auditons the first year & not at all in the second
  5. Hey Taxi - DD was approached at college last week......someone has been talking to me on-line & seen videos of DD & recognised her
  6. DD wasn't too impressed by it - but it was better than not dancing
  7. How are the injuries going ladies?y DD was Tap dancing while sitting down today - she is going stir crazy I can't see her doing pointe any time soon tho'
  8. How lovely - what a relief Lots & lots of luck to her......now you just have to sort out uniform!!
  9. Millennium is excellent and the Diploma was DD's top choice. But when DD didn't get funding we researched she thinks she remembers that the fountion was only half days
  10. Oh dear - I hope they both get well soon as well I wonder if the injuries could have been anticipated/preventable? (I haven't had the full tale from DD yet)
  11. & on a child protection front it's hard too 16 year olds can move out (run away?) & not be returned because they are adults and can do what they like - however the parent may still be responsible for that child/persons safety unless social services will take over - which is almost impossible
  12. Yep - injuries First week of college & she has torn something!! So the entire summer has been around developing transferable skills, just in case;this injury seems minor - but the next one? or the one after that?
  13. My DD started a three year diploma in Musical Theatre yesterday; but she did the pre-voc last year. She came home after the first day to say how wonderful it was to not only be 'allowed' to sing and dance all day, but to be 'required' to It was a dream come true for her. I have to say I was glad she did the pre-voc as I was a little concerned about the level of work and commitment required & thought a 1 year course would be easier to 'write off' if it all went pear-shaped & she hated it - but tbh she has gone from strength to strength!
  14. Yes - DD is covered on our H/H insurance for no extra cost (including bike/computer etc but now jewellry)
  15. DD is a bit concerned she won't be good enough but she is looking forward to the TopHat stuff!! I moved all her stuff back to Essex today & did an enormous shop for the freezer!! Edited cos I forgot a bit
  16. I'm sorry Primrose - I don't know what to say; how scary and frightening that must have been
  17. Are these open classes or do you have to be part of their organisation? What level are they?
  18. You can use a standard format Like an important date or year - something special to the site & your nickname or something - then each site will be easy to remember but different So 1812DanceKaty might work for me & for the other site 1812MummyKaty (these are not my format or passwords - just examples) Each one would be different but easily remembered
