  1. Hi Prima, not sure which courses you are talking about - can you link them please? The ones I can see on the ISTD siet are for teachers and I can't find the children's ones at all (technical numpy) sorry
  2. Taxi that is what the practise nurse said to me; even if she had C last year (she did) she HAS to have it again this year even allowing for their over-protectiveness of DD, that was a firm statement
  3. It's situations like this that make me so grateful for our fabulous surgery Last year (Oct/Nov) Dd was very poorly & the GP she was registered with kept saying "it isn't a chest infection so she can't have antibiotics" - 3 weeks later she was so ill with a chest infection & asthma it was unreal I brought her home and registered her as a 'visitor' & she was immediately on antibiotics & steroids narrowly missing an admission to hospital. So our home surgery have agreed to keep her registered there, despite her living away & they will prescribe as soon as she gets a cough - they say they have to be so protective of asthmatics chests & more so in her case (because of her dad's medical history) The sad thing is that I went with DD to the initial appointment when she registered by the college & also took her to that GP when she was ill (twice) - each time I explained her medical history & each time it was ignored. Edited to add - sorry off topic
  4. I think it suggests it is spread by body fluids/saliva (so sharing glasses/bottles/cigarettes & kissing) so possibly not for younger boarding school & yr9/10 are on the list for inoculations anyway
  5. I rang today - absolutely no problem & can we book her in for her flu jab too (in October); the nurse has messaged all the practise nurses to remind them if they hear of a teen going early to grab them for vaccination & thanks for reminding them about DD but she would have come up on the system as she had it last year. I do wish services were a bit less postcode based; sorry Taxi (edited as I can't spell)
  6. It was introduced either last year or the year before and was offered at both 18 (yr13) & the younger teens started getting it too in yrs 9 & 10 depeding on when your Health Authority plan i. the idea is that by the time those children get to 18 they will all have been done already I imagine boarding schools are probably a little more hygiene conscious that halls of residence & student accommodation.....at least I sure hope they are
  7. It's a new one this year so will be offered to yr13 routinely Older children need to get a top up (I have since been told) because of the extra strains being inoculated against & it is being added to the teen vaccines (at about 13) so when they get to 18 they won't need it again (iyswim) But it's when teens live together that it really spreads plus they are less likely to get early treatments away from home
  8. There are new Meningitis inoculations which all students going away to college need to get If you are 18 you will get called in for it - but if you are 16 or 17 you might have to ask at your surgery. DD got hers last year but there is a new one out this year so I don't know if she needs a top-up Not really doing Dance - but fairly important
  9. Some of DD's 'friends' on Facebook are 'professional dancers' with barely any training, no vocational training at all & they do fetes/holiday camps for drinking money - so let's hope some of them were surveyed
  10. I wonder how the DaDA funded dancers stood up against the non funded ones.......as well as the different types of dance & actually it doesn't specifically say that the dancers were trained dancer......just that they were dancing professionally, unless I read it wrong Does anyone have access to the actual survey results, I worry about stats without reading the actual survey & it's constraints
  11. I know it's not dance related but I'm apalled (is that spelt right, I'm not sure) that this has happened in the sam budget that increased the allowance for inheritance tax
  12. Thanks - I'll ask her (or the physio) Sorry for hijacking Ellie
  13. Is this tape what DD will have had when she torn her aductor? If it is I need to find a hypoallergenic form of it for her as her skin reacted badly to it
  14. Hi This group is having auditions again at the beginning of July http://www.artistryyouthdance.com/register "Artistry Youth Dance is a vibrant youth dance company that showcases aspiring performers of African and Caribbean descent, aged 14-19 years. With a focus on Jazz and Contemporary dance, we aim to provide training and performance opportunities for our Company members, showcasing their talents and celebrating their artistry." DD has really enjoyed being part of this group I posted in case anyone is interested
  15. All sorted - it was an oversight Lovely when it's easy to sort
  16. Dd has always struggled with hairstyle - whether Ballroom or Latin or Ballet or Tap or Jazz, there seems to be a regulation 'hair style' & I just can't I'm not being awkward, I really just can't! Some teachers have responded well with "tidy, tied up and out the way" but some have been "my way for else!" so I just deliver then to the teacher with a passive aggressive I don't know how.... and they have split between "well I can't either" so why did you ask me to or some lovely hairstyles or "well actually tidy, tied up and out the way will do" I am such a failure at hair! But I can (normally) buy an appropriate leotard!
  17. DD had a very successful singing lesson(for dancers) from Picture's DH Then out for a meal afterwards - it was lovely
  18. Well I have my computer in the car (I rarely leave it behind) Looking forward to it
  19. I know why do you think she has 4 jobs It's like a GCSE year twice!! last year for GCSEs & this year for this......hopefully I'll have 3 years before we get a short one again
  20. Yes term has finished (it was a pre-vocational course) & the show is at her 'old' associates that said she could come back for the last half-term to help 'keep up her dancing' as she will be off 15 weeks
  21. Oh I thought there was an active thread about that topic & forgot about your post on here Oh I am embarrassed - I didn't mean to be rude, really I didn't - I just got confused
  22. Actually Melody - I think you could be right I'll be gentle and firm; DD got upset at the weekend as she's 'letting everyone down'
  23. Um mnemo & youngatheart - are these for a different thread?
  24. It is hard to get it right; & at DD's age I hesitate to intervene - but it's making her feel bad, so I don't know what to do
