  1. Tierney Heap was a wonderful Lilac Fairy last week in the Cuthbertson / Clarke performance. No problem in the variation, very strong dancer ! Any news from Kobayashi / Bonelli on Friday ?
  2. She is a première danseuse (first soloist), she was really pushed forward by Benjamin Millepied (well deserved as she is a stunning dancer). And, as said before, some women from other companies or schools could join the company and even become étoile (Pagliero) but no men since 2004.
  3. Hannah O'Neill in her recent interview for Pointe Magazine speaks about the difficulties of being "surnuméraire" in POB.
  4. You are right Floss but the difference is the jury (very french). I guess Kevin O'Hare decides to give a contract to a dancer, in Paris there is a competition and a candidate has to have enough persons for him in the jury to succeed, the artistic director is not the only one deciding.
  5. alison, Joseph Aumeer has a short term contract for next season, he is considered as "surnuméraire" which means he is not part of the company for the moment. He will have to compete again next year in July to eventually gain the possibility to really enter the company. Every year some people who did not follow the Paris Opera ballet school are in the same case (getting a short term contract) but few of them really enter the company, I think the last boy who could finally enter the POB was a boy from CNSM - Paris in 2004 ! A student from the Royal Ballet School, Axel Alvarez, got the same contract as Aumeer two or three years ago, he was quite often on stage but did not get a long term contract after that. I think it will not be easy for this talented young dancer but we will see...
  6. I saw that announcement on instagram.
  7. Joseph Aumeer is going to POB next season ! Congratulations to him ! What a loss for RB, they should have proposed him a real contract !
  8. Is Hayward strong enough technically for Aurora and Sugar Plum Fairy ?
  9. I saw the rehearsal yesterday and AT de K was there stunning work worth seeing
  10. Yesterday was the exam for the graduating students of the Paris Opera Ballet School, one girl and two boys got permanent contracts with the company. Today was the "concours de recrutement externe" for any dancer between 16 and 26 years old. Two boys got the two remaining permanent contracts and J. Aumer was just behind them which means Aurélie Dupont will certainly/probably propose him a short term contract with the company.
  11. Joseph Aumer has a busy week as he was today in Paris for the audition where he finished 3rd.
  12. Joseph Aumeer was at the audition today to enter the Paris Opera Ballet, he finished in 3rd place and will certainly have a short term contract.
  13. Well if she can continue to have nice things to dance it's the most important...
  14. yes capybara on their website click on www.forum-dansomanie.net then click on Tout sur la danse then Nouvelles de l'English National Ballet and it's on page 20 it's true that with all the "annonce" and post it you have to scroll down a lot, not very logical...
  15. Those balletomanes speak about Le corsaire being very kitsch, yet they notice as well that ENB's production is far more new than the one of ABT. But even if the soloists are good they think the company will suffer from the comparison with big international companies. It appears that the Ballet de l'Opéra de Vienne came a few years ago in Paris in the Festival Les étés de la danse and that it was too soon after only a few seasons under Manuel Legris management. They compare that invitation with the one of ENB this season. One person notes that the male principals hired by Tamara Rojo have muscles in common but are not very light and lyrical except Isaac Hernandez. For this person Cesar Corrales, even if he is not a principal, is the most spectacular recruit. Among the ladies we find the names of Shiori Kase, Lauretta Summerscales, Ksenia O. among the ones to watch during the parisian week.
  16. Some french balletomanes on Dansomanie think that ENB is not the kind of company we should expect to see at Palais Garnier. They think that the corps de ballet is quite weak, for them the real interest is Rojo and Cojocaru, for them the international level of the company is clearly not there yet. So let's wait and see... ENB has a lot to do to conquer Paris next week.
  17. I am curious to see what Lacarra and Dino are going to do... She must be about ten years older than he is ?
