  1. It's a shame the auditions won't be held in Birmingham. Edit to say I thought the performances would be in Birmingham! I had already seen this on Facebook but didn't read it carefully !
  2. NG Dance have put on some extra sessions in Nottingham to accommodate children who were still in school last week. You can book online for the whole day or turn up to do mornings, afternoons or whole day. If you're from outside Nottingham I recommend doing the Toton park tram park and ride to avoid the commuter traffic. The Lace Market tram stop is 5 minutes away. My daughter hasn't attended before but I've chatted to the teachers via Facebook over the last few months and they are lovely. I'll be taking my 10 year old and her friend but it's open to age 7-18 http://www.ngdance.org/-sessions-/
  3. Do JA's have to audition or do they move up automatically?
  4. I'll have to try it when DD has outgrown her current pair, just in case I mess them up
  5. I had a look at them in store, they're a very pink pink aren't they? I would like to get Sainsburys ballet shoes when they are in stock. My friend gets them for her daughter and they're a lovely flesh coloured pink rather than salmon pink.
  6. My daughter attends workshops on Tuesdays but I've asked her to invite her friends.
  7. It looks great, it's the type of class I like. I've invited my daughter to like the page, hopefully some of her housemates will be interested. I know they don't 'socialise' on Tuesday evenings ;-)
  8. That's reassuring to hear your daughter will be a soloist after not getting through previously. Well done to your daughter!
  9. Hi Poodle, We went to an audition last year and got chatting to a parent who's daughter was chosen and she'd only just done her grade 2 exam. I recognised some children from local dance schools and I don't think they were higher than grade 2. The girl who was awarded the half scholarship was amongst those. My daughter had only been studying grade1 at a 'proper' ballet school for 6 months and also had a bad cold so we weren't expecting her to get picked, it was a valuable experience and I think we'll go again in 2018 :-)
  10. It isn't Elmhurst associates, it's Chantry. my daughter measures 137cm so think I'll be opting for the 11-12. Thanks for the replies :-)
  11. I've just remembered how to quote replies, I've heard Bloch clothing does come up small..
  12. Sorry Elfin, I missed your reply! I was thinking the cotton ones might not have as much give. She needs the leotard for an associate scheme so I might ask if they have samples. I'm worried now that the 8-10 might be too small in the girth now.
  13. Thanks Moomin, I slow typing my reply above! I'll probably go with 8-10 as my daughter is petite compared to average.
  14. Thanks Pixiewoo, I plucked that website off Google but I've ordered from their eBay store in the past and they were really helpful. I have to place the order with the school as there's other items we need too. I've just measured my daughter and she's measuring 8-10 apart from her girth, I just hope the cotton leotards are stretchy..
  15. My daughter needs a Bloch cotton Lycra leotard, she's currently in a Roch Valley 9-10 shiny leotard. Do the cotton Lycra ones have as much give? My daughter will be 11 in 3 months but is very petite, she wears 9-10 clothes. Are Bloch leotards true to size? In Bloch size 1B is 8-10, the next size up is 11-12 The leotard we need to order is this one http://www.dancinginthestreet.com/Catalogue/Regulation-Uniform/Bloch-Female-RAD-Uniform/Bloch-BU102-Tank-Leotard Thanks in advance
  16. I'm currently watching Ballroom Boys on CH4+1. One of the Mums said her son's ballroom dancing costs £100 per week!!!
  17. Try not to feel bad, you weren't to know she would miss her old teacher. She will thank you when she's older.
  18. Sorry meant to type Lema, it got auto corrected.
  19. Lena,this sounds great... http://www.ngdance.org/-sessions-/
  20. Sarah, Yes I did mean to, I know it's a very old thread. I hope I haven't broken forum rules.
  21. Clara, I have sent you a private message. If any knows Clara please could they alert her to this thread as she's no longer active on here TIA
  22. The Senior Summer Course at Chantry is for ages 12-25, there's some video on this link. http://www.chantry-school.org/contemporary-dance-arts-intensives.html
  23. I was searching for hairpins before DD's exam, Boots didn't have any and Primark only had light brown ones. I managed to get some black hairpins from a Black Hair and beauty supply store but they were the long ones. I thought we were meant to blame everything on Jeremy Corbyn, maybe he uses hairpins on his allotment.
